Overall a decent spa stay for the money. Nice little getaway, hotel staff were very pleasant.
Our spa break was wonderful. The location was peaceful, the grounds were well maintained. We were warmly greeted and all the staff were kind and professional. The food was delicious. Our room was comfortable and spacious .The spa treatments were relaxing in tranquil surroundings.

The rooms were very comfortable, clean and a good size with tea and coffee and bottles of water. The hotel looked like a country house and was in a lovely setting. We were pleasantly surprised at how enjoyable the food was for our evening meal and there was a lovely selection at breakfast. The conservatory where meals were served looked out over lovely gardens. The christmas cracker with charades and little puzzle was a nice touch at dinner.The staff were very helpful and pleasant in the hotel and restaurant so overall the hotel side of things was good except for the bar. The bar area in the hotel really could be improved to make residents feel like they would like to stay for a drink or two after dinner. The music was dire and there was golf on the large tv! We had gone to have a couple of drinks after dinner but some decent music would have tempted us or even had there been a music channel on the tv. This seems to be a common issue in hotels in my experience. We did find the spa side of things a little disappointing for a number of reasons and as it was an overnight spa break this was really the main reason for coming. The spa is not attached to the hotel but is a few hundred yards away across the car park. After I booked the break online we had a call to say we couldn't book any treatments on the Sunday but in principle we didn't mind too much as we had the whole of Monday to relax. The downside of this was that we didn't have the use of our room to shower, dress and do hair and make up afterwards so had to make sure we had everything we needed at the spa and leave the rest in the car after checkout. The spa facilities were extremely busy and seemed to be full of gym members . The pool was clearly marked out for lane swimming with no area for casual guests' relaxation. We found it incredibly difficult to find space in the sauna or steam room so were restricted to using the indoor spa and outdoor hot tubs which left us feeling that we didn't have the option to use the facilities as you would expect or might have wanted. It doesn't feel like a dedicated spa but rather a facility for regular gym members which has had the use extended to maximise income generated. There were a couple of chairs placed outside the steam room area but it felt like an afterthought to queue and could do with a more relaxing indoor area to wait, read or get a drink or whatever. The spa treatment area was away from the pool area and was clean and relaxing and the treatments we booked were pleasant but we didn't get the full time for our hot shell massage as we were collected 5 mins late from the relaxation room and lost another 5 mins while the therapist went away and then finished a couple of minutes early. So overall I felt the hotel was good but left a little disappointed with the spa experience. I do think gym membership and Spa guests are there for different reasons with a sense of entitlement for different reasons so this mix did not work for me. We had a pleasant enough stay but there is room for easy improvements that would entice people back. After our stay I was talking to a colleague who I found stayed at the same location who felt exactly the same as me.

I attended the wedding of Simon & Kerry on Wednesday 14th September and stayed overnight,the venue was top class , my room was very clean ,the staff were extreamly friendly nothing was too much trouble
