I have been waiting with great anticipation for the re-opening of the Ironmonger Row Turkish Baths... I used to come on a regular basis and whilst the facilities had got grubby and it was often over-crowded I still managed to get my "relax" fix :)
Spa London have now taken over the management of the Turkish Baths area which have had a complete re-vamp... I think the Roman hot rooms are still in the same place but that is about it. There is much more room - 2 medium sized steam rooms, 2 saunas, a monsoon shower, an ice fountain, a relaxation lounge, bucket shower and plunge pool.
I have now been twice but on neither occasions has everything been working correctly... today the steam rooms were intermittent, the saunas only started working after 2 hours, the hot rooms did not work (again)....
I think they really missed a trick with the locker rooms (way too small) and the plunge pool is miles away from steam rooms...
I also have on both visits paid £30 for the Turkish Bath Experience - cleanse, scrub, massage for 60 minutes but the marble slabs you lie on have been cold and the all 3 parts of the treatment too short - no way did the treatment last 60 minutes!!!
Come on Spa London - get your act together!.... third time lucky for me hopefully!!!
