Treatments were all good. Steam and sauna rooms are tiny and in the locker room which is an odd place to have them. The place lacks a thermal spa but if you're just looking for somewhere relaxing with a few treatments then this is the place.
There were too many people booked in therefore the steam room/sauna/jacuzzi where overcrowded. Had to queue for 25 mins to check in. Staff, treatments & food were all excellent.
The rooms weren't very luxurious considering we were upgraded to a superior room, it was still basic. The staff weren't very warm and friendly. They said we could book in for lunch but when we asked to have our lunch that was in with the deal on that first day they said there wasn't any room in the restaurant? It came across to is that their priority wasn't guest satisfaction but to make more money out of the guests. The facial I recieved was ok, the lady wasn't very warming, she didn't talk through the products or about my skin with me but my friends who had a facial there got advice on their skin. The thalassotherapy felt like a cop out for a treatment and should be free to use by guests at their leisure. The lady doing the 'treatment' was strict and looked bored throughout. I would not return to this spa.
Not the relaxing, 'pampering' day I had hoped for. I was told by Champneys central bookings that my facial and thalassotherapy would be booked for me, taking into account the classes I wanted to attend, and I would be given a personal itinerary on arrival. The facial had not been booked, lunch was at 12:15 and the thalassotherapy was booked for 12:55 leaving insufficient time to enjoy and digest a three course meal before needing to change and get to the pool area. This was such a shame as the food was the best thing about the day. The classes were OK, although I'm not sure how the additional charge of £5 for a Pilates class can be justified. The venue and the spa facilities were acceptable and just about met my expectations. I don't know if I would go again, but if I did I'd make sure the itinerary for the day was to suit me and not Champneys.
Lovely facilities, looks like it has recently been refurbished, male and female steam and sauna are separate. Staff very friendly and helpful.
