My third visit to this venue, this time with my partner for the Retreat Spa Day for 2.
The day prior to our visit, I was emailed a reminder regarding our booking, and was also informed that the steam room wasn't working, and given the opportunity to change our booking to another day, which I thought was considerate of the venue.
We chose to visit anyway as we had other arrangement in the area during the weekend.
We arrived early, my partner completed his forms, then we made use of the spa facilities before our treatments.
The copper bath ritual in the VIP Suite was lovely... though the pop up plug does tend to pop up very easily !!!
Our treatments were wonderful, so relaxing that apparently I slept through half of mine :-)
Following our treatments, we had a light lunch, which was a choice of either a sandwich or a salad. We weren't offered a glass of wine with our lunch which should have been included, but I chose not to enquire about it as I was driving and couldn't drink anyway - I'm sure that if I'd asked, it would have been sorted.
We then had a lovely snooze in the relaxation room before we left.
The spa itself was very quiet, despite there being a wedding and a conference in the hotel itself - we only saw one other couple using the spa facilities during our time there.
In all, a lovely relaxing day, and we'll be back again :-)
Booked a week in advance – rang and spoke to very helpful gentlemen on hotel reception to check room type of booking.
Had a call from spa on the day before arrival to confirm treatment times, and another call from hotel events manager on day of arrival to check for any dietary requirements for spa lunch.
Upon arrival, we were dealt with swiftly at reception, and went straight up to our room which was clean, comfortable and spacious.
We later went down to the bar area for dinner, where there was a little confusion when I was asked to pay for the dinner that was included in the package – the young lady went to reception and sorted this straight away though. Be aware that there is an allowance of £26 each to spend on the ‘three course dinner’ - it just about covers three courses if you choose from the bar menu, but it would probably only cover two courses if you ate in the restaurant.
Back in the room, and despite there being no heating on, it was incredibly warm, and we had to sleep with the window open all night.
Breakfast was really good, a buffet style service with plenty of choice, including fruit, cooked breakfast, cereal and pastries.
Our spa treatments were booked for the afternoon, so we headed down to make use of the leisure facilities before our spa lunch that was also included in the package.
The hotel pool was quite busy as it’s used by non-residents too. The Jacuzzi seats 4 comfortably - any more than that and it gets a tad cosy !!! The sauna and the steam room were spacious though. My only other criticism in this area is a shortage of seating around the pool area, and the only source of drinking water was a water fountain at the opposite end of the pool to the sauna and steam room.
Our spa lunch consisted of a Bento box, including a wrap, salad and a chocolate brownie. These were enjoyable, but there seemed to be some problems with other peoples bookings for lunch, as they were on the same package as us but their food had not been ordered for some reason.
Following lunch, we went into the Spa area to sit in the relaxation room prior to our treatments. The room was quite small with plastic loungers, more like a waiting room, and it wasn’t really possible to relax.
The spa seemed to be quite busy that afternoon, and we were a little late being collected for our treatments. We both opted for the Fit for Business Back Ritual, which were carried out professionally.
Overall, a nice night away over a bank holiday weekend – we’re planning a visit to another one of their hotels for the same package later in the year.
I visited St. Georges Park Health Club and Spa with a friend for the Comfort and Harmony treatment.
The venue is excellent, all facilities were very well maintained, our light lunch was just right, and my back massage by therapist Lucy was spot on - I asked for a firm massage, and that's exactly what I got !
My friend said her facial was wonderful and relaxing too, with around 8 different products being used.
We both received a foot massage prior to our treatments which was unexpected, and we were given herbal tea afterwards.
The light lunch we received was lovely - a wrap with side salad, and a choux bun for dessert. There was tea, coffee, juice and fresh & dried fruit freely available to us too.
Every member of staff I encountered was friendly, welcoming and helpful, from my initial telephone booking through to our visit - I'll be visiting again, as often as I possibly can !!!
One minor thing to note - we visited on a Wednesday morning, when a water babies class takes place at one end of the swimming pool. We weren't planning on swimming lengths anyway so it didn't really bother us, but bear this in mind if you intend to swim - although there's plenty of other things to fill your time anyway !
The gel manicure in itself was ok, and lasted just under two weeks.
It seemed to be quite rushed though, it only took about half an hour rather than the hour I was booked in for.
The salon itself is quite small, located on the upper floor up a steep flight of stairs.
Staff are friendly and helpful though.
Visited with a friend for a spa day with afternoon tea. After relaxing in the hot tubs, sauna and steam room, we each received a complimentary foot treatment, then an express facial and a wonderful back, neck and shoulder massage. There was plenty of complimentary soft drinks available, and a lovely relaxation room with comfy loungers. After our time in the spa, we made our way back into the bar area of the hotel, where we were served a wonderful afternoon tea by very attentive waiting staff. If you have chance, take a walk around the grounds and say hello to the beautiful peacocks.
To sum up, it's a lovely location with excellent staff - I intend to visit again soon !
Lovely venue, with friendly pleasant staff. The therapist asked how firm I would like her to be during my massage, and adjusted her techniques to suit. I would not hesitate to visit here again, as it was excellent value and the massage was spot-on.
A friend and I had booked the Lushly Polynesian Hand Ritual Manicures. On the day we visited, the weather wa awful, it had been snowing heavily. We were greeted at reception, and asked whether we would like a hot drink before we had our manicures. We were then taken through into a small room where we sat side by side to have our nails done. The hand ritual was lovely, with a hand scrub, massage and moisturising treatment, along with a full manicure including OPI polish which was expertly applied and lasted for at least a week. Would not hesitate to visit again !
I wanted to book for the day after purchase, so I checked with the venue before making purchase to ensure they had availability. They could accomodate us, but I was told that to make bookings using Wahanda vouchers, I would have to ring the central booking line. I made our purchases via Wahanda, then called to book in. Was on hold in a queue with 9 people ahead of me, then was given the option to get a call back, so I took that option. I was called back around 30 minutes later, and was able to make bookings for the next day.
Upon arrival at Bannatynes, we filled in health forms, then were taken through to the changing areas by a member of the spa staff, and also shown where the spa area was. We spent some times in the pool , sauna and steam rooms before heading to the spa area for our treatments. We were offered the option of separate treatment rooms or the dual room, and we opted for the latter. The therapists were professional, and the back and scalp massages were very relaxing. We were offered tea and coffee after our treatments before leaving.
My only criticism would be that the spa area is located upstairs, away from the pool changing areas, meaning that if you choose to make use of the pool facilities, you have to wander around the corridor and stairs in your dressing gown.
A nice relaxing day - we arrived early, and made use of the pool, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and heated loungers before our treatments,
Jemma was happy to fit me in for a gel manicure at very short notice, and I was extremely pleased with the results, which lasted for a full two weeks. I'm returning next week to have my nails done again.
