Web designer for Wahanda...I love running, yoga, sunshine, and veg cuisine.
I had a really great experience at Bar - my hairstylist Brett gave me a very thorough consultation made sure he knew what I wanted and gave me tips on what would suit me best. I am looking forward to going back!
Excellent neighbourhood spot for a quick visit. The Deep Tissue massage is just that - really great for getting out knots and relieving tight muscles. If you like really soft touch massages this is probably not for you! The waiting area is very small, but my therapist was able to get me into the room straight away so it was no problem.
Had a really lovely experience at Away Spa at the W hotel. The spa is on the 6th floor - it's a small stylish space looking out over London.
My massage was one of the best I have ever had, the therapist did an excellent job of balancing deep tissue massage for my knotted back and relaxing softer pressure for everywhere else. The treatment room was spacious, sleek, and tranquil.
The only downside is that the whole spa area was not very big, so the only place to chill out before or after a treatment is in the waiting area. I really enjoyed the sauna, and found the steam room a bit too hot for comfort. There were a handful of individual changing rooms with showers and toiletries.
Overall the Away Spa is really amazing for massage treatments, but not quite enough facilities to make a whole day of it.
I had a great experience at Smile Pod in Covent Garden. I went for a 'High Gloss Diamond Polish' on Saturday afternoon. Both the receptionist and dentist/hygienist were very friendly. The office felt very relaxing, not like your typical dentist office. The dentist was very gentle and my teeth/gums look and feel great now. I am looking forward to going back for my next cleaning.
I was excited to find a deal for a Sunday as I was in dire need of a trim. I booked a deal for £35 and was able to use another voucher so I thought I was getting a great deal. Once I arrived I saw a sign on the door advertising a cheaper deal for haircut + blowdry and conditioning treatment for £19.
The haircut itself was quite basic - hardly any consultation and a very quick cut. The blow dry felt like it took ages, and the way she styled it was decent. Once I attempted to style my hair on my own, I realised there is no shape to the cut at all. It feels heavy at the ends without any layering (like a haircut I had as a kid). I need to go for another cut for someone to fix it so overall I am not pleased.
I saw Valentina for a wash, haircut, and blowdry a few weeks ago and I was really pleased with my experience. All of the staff were very friendly in the bright little salon. While I had my haircut I had a nice cup of peppermint tea and chatted with Valentina. I left feeling great about my new 'do and I would love to go back for another visit.
I was really nicely surprised with my visit to Bootcamp Pilates in Fulham. Although the location is unassuming, the studio is fresh and airy and the equipment is in tip-top shape.
The instructor I had was Sam, who was very motivating, friendly, and helpful.
You must sign up for classes in advance via their website - I am guessing the more popular times fill up quickly as there is only space for ~8 people. Classes are a bit pricey, as all Reformer Pilates classes tend to be, but if you can spare the cost you will definitely see results.
My overall thought of Pilates HQ in Islington = Amazing!
The studio was clearly marked and easy to find, just across from Angel Tube station. The inside of the studio is sparkling clean with great big windows on each side. The woman at the front desk greeted me with a warm welcome and explained where I could find the showers, changing rooms, towels, blow dryers, etc.
I attended a Sunday morning beginners class with Sharon and she was very knowledgable and helpful. With each exercise she checked our alignment and made sure we were doing things properly (those reformer machines have a lot of parts to learn!) I left here feeling great and I can't wait to go back next week.
Seeing as your first class is free with Pilates HQ, there is no reason not to try it. Classes on their own are a bit pricey, but no more than other Reformer classes.
I absolutely love visiting Pilates HQ, if the classes weren't so expensive I would go every week! My most recent class was with Keziah and she was very friendly and helpful. The facilities are always in tip top condition and the classes are challenging and different. The deal I purchased was 3 classes for £25 which is a great deal considering they are usually £20+ each. You are able to book classes online thru their website which makes finding classes super easy. I would recommend Pilates HQ to anyone looking for a new sort of workout!
