AVOID - Worst Brazilian Blow dry ever
Alarm bells should have rung when the hairdresser, after telling me to keep it dry for two days, attempted to douse my hair with hairspray before I left!
When I woke the next day, the top layer was straightish, but underneath my hair had sprung back to its normal kinks and curls; presumably she didn’t straighten the lower layers anything like enough. My scalp also felt bumpy, like sand paper – although it didn’t itch or flake. As my hair’s been washed a couple of times now, and a week later the bumpiness is starting to wear off, it seem it was just the roots of my hair were rigid, creating the odd bumpy texture.
After washing, my hair instead of being straight is a tangled nest that looks like candy floss, and takes an age to de-tangle, even with lots of conditioner. Even with blow drying, my hair quickly reverts to a frizzy mess,
I’ve been having Brazilian Blowdries for about five years now, generally every 5-6 months. Usually my hair is straight and well behaved enough not to need blowdrying for at least four months after a treatment. This is appalling – and I don’t want to go elsewhere to get another BB because I try to avoid the chemical treatment too often.
Pleased with my highlights, however it was frustrating to be kept waiting, with my treatment starting half an hour after the time scheduled. I was offered tea and coffee while waiting, and the women were very friendly, but I would have been happier if I'd been told they were running late at the outset.
Great haircut, I'm really pleased with it. Dimitris cut my hair, & paid huge attention to detail to get it to sit just right.
- and gave me the most amazing head massage when my hair was washed.
One thing to watch out for - my phone map took me to the wrong part of Greys Inn Road (and it is a very long road!) The salon is actually on the corner of Mount Pleasant, very close to the big junction with Clerkenwell Road/Theobalds Road.
great salon, and they do good manicures - just so unfortunate that they are extremely anti people booking on wahanda - not that you receive a poor service, but the level of pressure to make repeat bookings directly (and without discount)is unpleasant. If it weren't for this I would have awarded '5*' again.
I felt uncomfortable with this the first time I used the salon; it felt even more pressured second time around - sufficiently so that I probably won't go here again.
If they don't want business through wahanda, then they either shouldnt use the site, or if they only want to use the site to attract new business, restrict discounts to new clients only.
great salon - an area of Islington I didnt know existed
salon is very clean, tidy and well equipped
Had a great manicure and pedicure - ordinary varnish, not shellac.
I have applied additional top coats every 2-3 days, but the varnish still looks fine after ten days - something of a record for me!
wonderful wide massage table; I'm not a svelte size 10 or trim 14 - usually when I have a massage, my arms don't fit comfortably on the table. so the wide massage table here is brilliant - stands to reason that if your body is in alignment and your not straining to hold you arms up or behind your head to be comfortable, that the massage will be tons more effective.
The massage therapist was great, it was an excellent massage.
I was a bit concerned about the comments of noisy gym music, but booked anyway because its close to home,. Admitedly I was here on a Friday evening, so the gym may have brrn quieter than normal, but I really didn't notice it after the first few minutes.
I'll definitely be going back.
Rachels manicure was excellent as ever - it's lasted 4 weeks before chipping, including a week away with no diswasher.
I chose a really nice blue shade this time.
massage OK - admin atrocious
I'd booked an afterwork massage at 6pm - received a call at 2pm requesting that I move it to 7pm
call at around 6.30pm to cancel (just as well I live close by and wasnt already on my way)
further call at about 7pm to ask if I could reschedule to 8pm
I forgot to pick up the voucher with all the other changes, emailed it to the address they gave me, still got a load of phone calls & emails asking me to send the voucher - emailed it about 4 times in the end.
the massage itself was fine - but overall a frustrating experience.
Fantastic nails as ever - CND have some fantastic new colours. this was my 3rd visit - so I definitely reccommend.
My previous manicure by Rachael lasted 4 weeks and still looked great with no chips, despite lugging around lots of packing boxes throughout.
