First class was good as we learned the basic of salsa. The teacher was good and took time with each of us. The venue is good and the value for money is spot on. Recommended!
We went as a group and loved it and dance teacher was spot on. The venue is highly recommended for value for money! It felt like a private lesson for us.
I loved the ballet class taster with Phoebe Appleby and I have already signed up for the ballet beginners course. Unfortunately didn't feel the street dance taster was suitable for beginners.
I got one of the vouchers that gave you 3 classes at Sadler's Wells - all were in different venues (Westminster Academy, Finsbury Town Hall, and Lillian Bayliss Studio) in and around the Angel/Clerkenwell area with different instructors. The ballet taster was really good, giving a good overall feel of what doing ballet would encompass, the Urban Street Dance gave you a good idea of what classes would be like as well. Bollywood was taken by a fill-in teacher the week I went - I found the teacher good but can't comment on what doing a course of classes would be like. I didn't decide to go ahead with a term of any of these - I preferred Zumba (I also attended 2 classes of Zumba at City on a different deal, with two different instructors - one I preferred over the other) but that's just my own personal taste (prefer to be constantly moving rather than stopping & starting). Overall I'd say City Academy provides a variety of different classes of good quality & value - it's just up to you what you're after.
I love the studios, the easygoing atmosphere and the classes I attended were fun and beneficial.
I got myself a membercard that I can top up as I go as I wanted to go for more classes.
Lovely lively place in a spot of London that I really like!
The process was a little tricky to start as they didn't have any taster classes left to try. They did however let you do the first class of a course to try it out. The people on e-mail were very nice and helpful. The teacher was lovely and the class size nice and intimate so you can get a lot of personal tuition. I found the actual venue a little unusual but this didn't stop any of the great training. My calves are killing me today!
Cannot recommend enough. Fantastic atmosphere, ideal location (opposite Selfridges), great teachers (friendly, all pros, offer corrections). Facilities are a bit basic (no lockers in the changing rooms, you need to take your stuff with you in the studio) but for £7 a 90 min class I can put up with it. They have classes for all levels, from absolute beginners to pros. Loads of other classes (lambada, jazz dance, pole dance, ....) Just perfect.
