Mind over matter. Autogenic Therapy (AT) is a technique that helps to bring about a profound state of relaxation of the mind and body at will.
Most of us are able to bounce back to health - whether it’s a broken bone, a cut or wound or even an emotional or physical trauma the body is able to repair itself. It is this that Autogenic therapy taps into to help us achieve a natural state of health and vitality.
Autogenic therapy is taught over eight to ten weekly sessions and lasts about 45 minutes to an hour, but it doesn’t just end there. The six simple mental exercises can then be practised at home two to three times a day and what’s great about it is they only take a few minutes, so even the busiest of diaries can schedule it in.
As we all know each and every one of us is different so it comes as no surprise that an individual’s AT experience will vary from person to person. As everyone is completely unique and goes to AT with all sorts of issues, the training is tailored to an individual’s needs. Your progress will be monitored so at the end of your training you’ll have a tool-kit of skills that you can use whenever you need. What’s more you will have greater control over your health and wellbeing.
We all live stressful lives. Whether it’s juggling your personal and working life, taking care of children or a loved one it all adds up. AT is a great way to bring a little balance back into your life.
It’s a skill that is easy to learn and can help control a number of emotional and physical issues such high cholesterol, PMT, pain management, skin problems, muscular tension, panic attacks, back problems and depression to name just a few.
It’s not just for those of us that are stressed or unwell, it can also help to improve sleep, concentration, creativity and overall health and well-being. It is also known to help support other therapies or treatments that a person may be having.
