My aim as a counsellor is to help you gain a better understanding of yourself and your life, and essentially to aid you in having a happier life. I provide a supportive, ethically safe, confidential relationship within which we can explore your sense of self and any difficulties you may have. I will work with you in collaboration to form a strong therapeutic relationship in order to develop a shared understanding of your problems. In paying detailed attention to your own experience we can work together to help you understand your own, very particular, way of dealing with the world. We will look at the way you interpret your environment, past and present events in your life. It will be a process of looking closer to what you are thinking and feeling at any given moment and what your idiosyncratic thoughts and interpretations are that you bring to new situations.

Therapy can be used to explore more generally, looking at how to manage ones self in the world, at difficulties with relationships, or at diffuse and recurrent problems. Our reactions to events and people are formed from a complex interaction of actions, thoughts, feelings, beliefs and bodily responses. Most of what we do, we do out of habit, without noticing how we are doing it. Understanding where our thinking and behaviour comes from is only half the battle, noticing how we do it, in detail, is the key to transformation. By paying attention we can see how our behaviours start and how the different aspects (thinking, feeling, doing) interact with each other. With this information we can develop the possibility of change. We can learn to manage ourselves as we choose and leave behind patterns of thinking and behaving that don't feel right or are no longer in our best interest.

I have ten years of experience working with the following issues: self-esteem; relationship issues; low mood; anxiety; addiction, sexuality, disability and health and career stress. I offer evening and early morning (pre-work) appointments 50 minutes.

I've worked as a therapist in London since 2004 in a variety of settings as a therapist, senior counsellor and as a service manager for CBT Day Program, CBT Residential Rehab (for addiction), Prison, Charity & Private Practice. I've been a member of BACP (British Association Counselling and Psychotherapy) since 2004 and a member of BPS (British Psychology Society since 1996 and I qualified as a Counsellor in 2007 with Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling Psychology from Roehampton University. My therapy technique has developed over the past ten years and is an integrative one, combining a variety of psychological, humanistic, CBT therapies and mindfulness.
