Myofascial Release Therapy is a massage technique used for the effective rehabilitation of soft tissue and fascial tension.
The word myofascial can be broken down to two parts: ‘Myo’ means muscle and ‘fascia’ means band. Fascia, a connective tissue, is a 3D continuous web of elastin and collagen fibres surrounded by a viscous fluid. Fascia is very strong and have a high degree of flexibility.
Fascia surrounds and protects every tissue, tendon, muscle, bone, ligament and organ of the body. Ina healthy condition the fascial system is relaxed and provide cushioning and supportive mechanism that allows us to move safely without restrictions or pain. Fascia also plays a major role in joint mobility and stability.
However, poor posture or physical and emotional trauma can affect the fascial system causing it to scar and harden along the tension lines. In this way fascial network loses its cushioning mechanism and can cause disalignment in the body, pain and also affect the posture further.
Myofascial Release Therapy is an alternative therapy which promotes mind and body connection. During this therapy Aggie will work along the fascial system in order to release tensions and bring fascial network to a healthy state that will ultimately lead to improved posture and improved flexibility.
