Scar Tissue Massage at Aggie Lee Therapy is a common treatment used to help remodel scar tissue that has develeloped in injured tissue or post pregnancy massage of cesarean section scar. It if a method usually used after surgery, fracture or soft tissue injury like sprains and strains or after pregnancy for post cesarean scar. The alternative name relating to scar tissue massage is scar mobilization.
Two most common techniques used are:
– cross friction massage which involves using one or two fingers to massage your scar and ensures the collagen fibres of that scar are aligned properly. This tehcnique for instance is used in the treatment of tendonitis or ligament sprains.
– myofascial release is a technique that involves using the hands to massage the skin and underlying tissues around the scar with slow motions and medium force applied.
It gives the best results when treatment is on regular, weekly basis. It is mostly beneficial after pregnancy for women who had cesarean section scar.
