Hair color is the pigmentation of hair follicles due to two types of melanin: eumelanin and pheomelanin. Generally, if more eumelanin is present, the color of the hair is darker; if less eumelanin is present. are the gentle alternative to permanent hair dyes because they work in the absence of ammonia and alcohol. They give your hair beautiful shine and often dazzling colour reflections. The pigments in a colour rinse merely attach to the outer hair shaft. A portion of these pigments will rinse out with every shampoo. While colour rinses are gentle on your hair, they will last through only six to eight shampoos.
Permanent hair dyes do not slowly rinse out with every shampoo. The hydrogen peroxide in permanent hair dye formulations partially extracts the natural hair pigments and replaces them with new pigments. The pigments are then permanently anchored inside the hair shafts. Even greying hair can be completely dyed this way.
