Good to know: Banya No.1 offers a selection of treatments, from honey and salt scrub to mud wraps, chosen for their effectiveness and boasting an “all-natural” status, prepared on the premises with organic ingredients. The signature treatment is Parenie (10 min - £25) – a massage that involves Veniks (bunches of birch and oak twigs). The type of wood is a key element of the treatment as the young leaves release essential oils during the massage that offer great health benefits. To address the misconception of the Veniks, a lot of people believe they are beaten with branches, but the reality is that they barely touch you. Being massaged with Veniks is more about using the branches to channel the steam in the room to aid detoxification. Other treatments available for booking: • Honey & Salt Scrub performed in the heat of the steam room (10 min) - £15 • Body Wash with soap and leafy birch twigs on the hot stone (10 min) - £15 • Coffee Body Scrub (10 min) - £20 • Aloe Vera Full Body & Hair Mask (15 min) - £25 • Mud Wrap (the mud has over 800 organic components and is sourced from famous Baldone Marshes in Latvia) 50 min - £65 • Massage (Russian, Deep Tissue, Sports, Shiatsu, Remedial and Reflexology) 30min - £35, 1 hour - £60

Banya No.1 is the one and only authentic Russian Banya in London, with unique original stove, humid steam room, plunge pool with icy-cold water for the temperature contrast and a fully licensed lounge bar where the guests can relax and sample typical Russian snacks, from pickled gherkins to caviar.
It is a great place to dive into health and wellness with a variety of authentic invigorating treatments, such as birch & oak leaves massage, scrubs and mud wraps. All of the ingredients are natural and the preparations are made on the premises.
According to trendspotters at Condé Nast Traveller UK, Russian banya's are poised to be the next big, mainstream spa trend currently gaining steady popularity across Europe.
Banya is also a social experience – there are mixed sessions for men and women, as well as male or female only days. Your party can sit and socialise in the lounge in between treatments and visits to the steam room.
So what makes Banya the unique spa experience?
The essential elements of Banya are hot, in the form of an ultra-heated steam room, and cold, in the form of an icy cold plunge pool.
The steam room is around 70С, but crucially, around 70-80% humidity. Unlike an average everyday dry sauna, this gives you intense heat, but without the dryness. This is thanks to the Banya No.1 pride and joy, the stove, that consists of huge rows of heated stones. The high temperature and large surface area of stones cause the water to evaporate into miniscule steam droplets. This provides you with the perfect balance of heat and moisture.
The plunge pool is a chilling 7-10 degrees to counteract the heat of the steam room. Alternatively there are wall mounted and plumbed in oak buckets on a twine pull-rope. Close your eyes, breath in, pull the rope and you are drenched in ice-cold water. The sudden change of temperature has a highly beneficial effect on the body – all toxins are released, and a feeling of relief and tingling lightness follows shortly after.
