Over time, as we naturally age, overactive muscle movement gradually wears away the collagen in our skin, causing the skin to crease and wrinkles to appear.
Line reducing injections work by relaxing these small muscles, using the product Bocouture®. Bocouture®, like Botox®, is a injectable type of Botulinum Toxin A and is used to treat fine lines and wrinkles.Bocouture was developed in the UK in 2008 and was licensed for cosmetic use in July 2010. It is used to treat all fine lines and wrinkles that are associated with aging due to facial muscle movements. Bocouture is fast becoming the treatment of choice for many patients that have previously had botox. 'It is a presciption only treatment. I will provide you with a private prescription for this included in the price of treatment.
In general, the upper face is divided into 3 areas:
i) The forehead lines (seen when raising your eyebrows).
ii) Frown lines (Called "Glabellar"
and are seen between the eyes at the top of the nose when frowning).
iii) Crows feet / Smile lines
(seen at the outer edge of the eyes when smiling or talking).
Each area can be treated, the treatment is charged per area. You can you choose to have just one or all three areas treated. It's up to you, no pressure will be put on you to have more, it's your face so you decide what is best for you. The number of areas to be treated will be discussed at your consultation so don't worry if you don't know exactly what you want!

Who should not use Bocouture®?
Not suitable for persons under 18 years.
The following patients should not use Bocouture®:
Pregnant or breastfeeding women cannot have this treatment.
Those hypersensitive (allergic) to Botulinum neurotoxin type A or any of the other ingredients of Bocouture®
Those who suffer from a generalized disorder of muscle activity (e.g. myasthenia gravis, Lambert-Eaton syndrome)
Those who have an infection at the proposed injection site.
As a qualified nurse I may refuse or delay treatment for medical or psychological reasons.
As this is a prescription only treatment an initial consultation must be made. A prescription can take 48hrs to be available.

How quickly will you see results and how long do they last?
Bocouture injections can show effects within twenty four hours. Treatment itself can take up to ten minutes to complete.An improvement in the glabellar frown lines generally takes place within 2 to 3 days, with the maximum effect observed on day 30. The effect lasts up to 4 months after the injection.
How often will you need touch-ups?
The intervals between treatments should not be shorter than 3 months.Some lines and wrinkles may not be able to be treated with wrinkle relaxing injections, therefore, other treatments such as dermal fillers may be suggested.
How long will the results last?
Usually, it will last for 3-4 months, but repeated use often results in longer lasting results,
Will you still be able to frown, smile, or look surprised after treatment with Bocouture®?
Yes. They will be able to frown, smile, or look surprised-but without the creases.
What are the side effects of Bocouture®?
Like all medicines, Bocouture® can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. The following side effects have been observed when using Bocouture® to treat vertical lines between the eyebrows:
Muscle activity disorders
Feeling of heaviness in the upper part of the face
There are a number of other uncommon reactions, and, as with every injection, the following reactions may occur around the injection site: pain, tenderness, itching, swelling and bruising.
