What is Ellipse Light?
Ellipse Light is a second generation Intense Pulsed Light System used for Permanent Hair Reduction. Ellipse Light is manufactured by a company called Ellipse A/S in Denmark. The Background of Ellipse is that they are responsible for the manufacture and development of the gamma camera used for cancer diagnostic treatment.
How does it work?
Ellipse uses Intense Pulse Light to safely and effectively reduce unwanted hair. We would advise the client to have a course of treatments with 4-8 week intervals in between for the best results. When you come in for a treatment hair is needed on the treatment area so therefore other methods of hair removal should be avoided prior to treatment. Sun Exposure, including sunbed and fake tan, should be avoided 30 days before and after treatment. As the treatment progresses, the amount of hair present on the area will become reduced and finer in texture so you will not be as aware of it. A consultation and patch test will be needed prior to treatment.
Which types of clients can be treated?
Clients with black hair will find the treatment most effective due to the large concentration of melanin found in the hair, which will give an optimal absorption of light energy and convert into heat. Clients with fair hair will find the treatment less effective as there is little melanin found in the hair, therefore less heat is produced giving us less certainty of destruction of the hair in the follicle. This means blond, white, red and grey hair cannot be effectively treated.
Does it hurt?
The treatment sensation varies from area to area and from client to client. As the light energy is absorbed by melanin, the sensation that is felt depends upon the amount of melanin found in the epidermis and the hairs. Most clients describe the sensation as quite moderate almost like the snapping of a rubber band, which only lasts for a short moment.
What are the side effects?
The most common skin reaction is a mild erythema/redness of the skin that normally subsides a few hours to a few days after treatment.
Is the Ellipse Light treatment safe?
Yes. It is completely safe. Ellipse is 2nd generation Intense Pulse Light (IPL) System utilising a patented ‘dual mode filtering’ system, which removes all unnecessary and potentially harmful wavelengths. The Ellipse has pre-programmed treatment suggestions for different skin and hair types.
How does the Ellipse Light compare to other laser and IPL system?
Clients tell us they prefer the Ellipse because of its long lasting results, safety and convenience. Safety and results sets the Ellipse apart from all other laser and IPL systems due to it’s patented ‘dual mode filtering’ system.
