Milia are tiny little white bumps or cysts that appear under the skin. They may resemble acne pimples, but they are really a completely different type of skin breakout. They are about 1-2 mm in size and can show up as single bumps or in clusters.
Milia are caused by dead cells that are trapped on the surface of the person’s skin. They often appear around the eyes, nose and sometimes near chin and can be caused by things such as too much exposure to the sun or by exfoliating the skin too roughly.
The method we use to remove the offending milia bumps involves cutting open the skin and using gentle pressure to pop them out. This extraction method shouldn’t be tried at home, because you could introduce bacteria into the area or damage your skin further. We use only sterile needles and we make sure everything is bacteria free.
