I came to Chris Hocking's Pilates Body Awareness classes as I had suffered from serious back problems since childhood and my osteopath suggested I try pilates to work on my 'core strength'. A friend recommended Chris. I had a couple of one-to-one sessions and found that Chris, quietly but expertly, understood what was going on with my body and gently started to get me to think differently about movement, exercise and posture. I have been having regular lessons at the school for about 4 or 5 years and am completely committed to it and to Chris as I have not suffered any back pain at all since I walked through her doors (save the few times I am away from classes for over a month when I start to have problems again and badly need to get back into Chris's routine lessons). Chris is an excellent and experienced teacher, who understands bodies. In a pilates class she shares her knowledge of anatomy as well as putting us through precise and exacting programmes. I have never tried another pilates class and never would as i and my body get so much out of this committed and serious teacher.
