I’m not sure if this experience is for everyone but I loved it. Floatopia is tucked out of the way down a side street off Chiswick High Road. I was warmly welcomed on arrival and the premise was very relaxed. As it was my first time the whole process was explained to me, I had the option of music, I could turn the light on or off and a neck pillow was supplied if I needed it.
After the introduction I was left in the room by myself to shower before I entered the float cabin. The Epsom solution was dense with a slimy feel and I instantly floated. I pulled the door shut, turned off the light, lay down in the solution and relaxed.
I first felt like I was spinning or that I was going to topple over but then got use to the feeling of floating in space. I quickly fell asleep and woke only when the music started to let me know I only had a short time to go.
When I got out of the solution I felt like I was still floating. Everything was provided for the shower so all I had to do was put back on the clothes I arrived in.
After leaving the float room I was encouraged to relax in the relaxation room and was given the choice of either water or Roobis Tea. There was plenty of information around to explain the experience I had in the float room.
I would recommend this for anyone that finds it hard to switch off and just needs an hour to themselves without any stimulus.
I wouldn’t recommend this to people that are claustrophobic.
