This was my first ever wax so it may have been a bit over enthusiastic of me to go for the under-arms, full legs and bikini all in one go. But first of all, the venue. It's fine. Usual set-up with a hairdressers being the main business with additional rooms let out to beauty practitioners. It's not glamorous but it's clean and everyone seemed friendly. It was easy to find and I parked in the car park behind the cinema without any trouble.
I can't remember the lady's name, but she was running a little behind schedule. When we started, she was very professional, very kind and pleasant. Being my first time, she reassured me and was sympathetic to my evident fear! I'm going on a two-week holiday and thought it would be great to be hair free for the duration without having to worry about shaving. I hadn't really thought too much about the pain of waxing until I was there, waiting for it to start.
So, I have no previous experience to compare this to. She started with my under arms and I can't lie, it was excruciating. Then bikini, also excruciating - almost unbearably so. Then legs, by which point I was numb so felt very little! She worked quickly and seemed to be very thorough. She was quick to apply pressure after each strip and also rubbed on a soothing cream. I'm not sure I could ever go through that again but I do feel very lovely and smooth. I didn't have any nasty reaction or the red bumps I have read about elsewhere. I did feel slightly traumatised afterwards and my underarms are still tender, but I am very smooth and will be happy to get my legs out on the beach in Jamaica.
So, while I wouldn't necessarily recommend waxing (I'm sure I'll be converted once I've forgotten the pain!), if you are going to get a wax, I would certainly recommend this woman. And sincere apologies for not remembering her name! She was very lovely.
