The Club and Spa at Hoole Hall

I visited this spa with my boyfriend for a 4-hour spa evening. It included a 30-minute massage each (and a glass of bubbly each supposedly).
On arrival, the reception staff were very friendly and handed us our towels/robes/slippers and showed us to the changing rooms and instructed us to head upstairs once we had changed into our swimwear. I was slightly confused by the locker system - the lockers in the ladies changing rooms are locked by padlocks. I was unsure what to do with the key (it didn't have a keyring or anything). I put it in the pocket of my bathrobe and did panic quite a few times during the evening when I thought someone else had picked up my bathrobe while I've been in the pool!
Upstairs there was another reception. No staff anywhere in sight. We were unsure what to do, so waited in the little comfy room where people were waiting to have their treatments. We were sat there for about 30 minutes and still no staff in sight. The free fruity tea served had run out. Finally a lady appeared at the reception and booked us in for our massages. She didn't tell us anything about the spa facilities or where they were located, so we were left to our own devices. She also didn't offer us a glass of bubbly as was promised in the deal!
We found our way around the spa OK. The different thermal rooms were indeed very good and relaxing. The pools were also brilliant and I especially enjoyed the the large outdoor pool (well, not really outdoor, but you do get to see the sky). It wasn't crowded anywhere in the thermal areas and overall it was a very relaxing evening.
We wandered to the cafe for a bite to eat but unfortunately they had run out of everything?? We were told they don't really serve food in the evening.
My massage was quite average. It was about 20-minutes (it was supposed to be 30 minutes) and the therapist rushed in my opinion. The treatment rooms themselves were very good, clean and relaxing. The post-relaxation area with the giant bean bags was also very good and my boyfriend fell asleep after his massage.
Overall, I would recommend this spa for its thermal areas and pools and general ambiance - but unfortunately we found the customer service to be somewhat lacking.
