I had been deliberating a haircut for a while, partly because I had a family wedding soon and I wanted to look my best. Because of this, I was extra careful about where and who I chose to have my hair cut by.
Before making any bookings, I paid Burlington's Boutique a visit and requested a consultation which I had, with a lovely lady called Amy. We had a brief discussion about what I wanted to do with my hair, and she had some great suggestions, taking into consideration things like the condition of my hair, etc. We came to a mutual decision as to what I would have done, and I left pleased and convinced that this would be the place to go. When the time came to book the appointment, I got in contact with Burlington's and explained that I would prefer Amy as I had had a consultation with her previously and felt she would be most appropriate and I was told that this was perfectly ok.
Appointment time came, and I arrived fairly on time, was not made to wait long at all either. However, I was made aware that Amy was absent due to her being unwell. This was unfortunate but obviously unavoidable so I proceeded with the appointment with another lady. (I don’t recall her name).
She seemed polite at first glance, but then came the consultation. I had mentioned what was discussed between Amy and I, which she tried to dispute, as if to say I was talking absolute rubbish. True, I have limited knowledge about hairdressing, hence why I expect to be advised correctly by anyone working in this kind of establishment.
I had paid for a wash, cut and blow-dry and that’s what she gave me. The wash was fine. I then came to the decision that a fringe and trim would have to suffice as I was sort of left to my own devices which I didn’t find at all helpful, I was given no suggestions or anything. When she proceeded to cut my fringe, I explained that I wanted it fairly long. She disagreed and explained to me that if I wanted the fringe to ‘frame my face’ It needed to be quite short, hitting eye length, which I mentioned that it wasn’t what was discussed previously with Amy,. She went ahead with this and proceeded with cutting the remaining length of hair. I did mention that I was a little unsure if I wanted to keep it at the length that it was cut, and she suggested if I wanted to go shorter once it was dried, we could go shorter.
She went ahead with a blow dry, and the haircut looked a little strange. I noticed the fringe was really short, much shorter than I had wanted it. I was a little indecisive regarding the remaining length of hair and asked if it would be possible at all to go shorter. She told me that it wouldn’t be possible as the hair was now dry, the total opposite of what she had told me not long before. She even had the cheek to tell me that she didn’t quite understand why I didn’t like it as it was specifically what I had asked for. At this point, I was made to feel a little uncomfortable so, I left there with no option but to leave with what I was given.
What makes it even worse is that I was made to visit another Hairdresser and pay more money to fix what was done who told me that because the fringe was cut so thick, it has left me with thinning hair at the sides of my head so I am now unable to do anything with my hair until it grows out which will take months.
A slight disappointment as I had high hopes for this place. I don’t think I will be returning again due to the lack of experience and customer service skills shown.
