Agree with the comments that the longevity of both rely on client aftercare. I have had client who have had their Gelish on for 4/5 weeks. Regrowth is terrible but still no chips and high shine gloss with no scratching/dulling to surface etc is maintained. I have had some clients who have had flawless Gelish for 2 weeks, it also varies on individual nail type etc.
I cannot comment on Shellac too much but I have had one that tried Shellac and said it was not as long lasting as Gelish.
Hope this helps.

It really does depend on clients following the correct aftercare.
It is a little difficult to compare the products side by side as they are actually very different.
Shellac is a polish/gel hybrid and is applied exactly like a polish.
Gelish is a thin coloured gel and the prep of the natural nail is the same for a gel application.
They are both great products but both very different

5-6 weeks! Is this on hands or feet? I would think the regrowth on hands would look awful after this period of time can you infill this product?

All these treatments rely on the clients aftercare. The better you look after your nails after any beauty treatment the longer the results will last. Wear gloves, moisturise regularly and dont use your nails as tools!
