Is there a facial/treatment to help combat teenage oily and blemish prone skin?

My younger sister (aged 14), suffers terribly from oily skin and breakouts. Is there a particular type of facial or treatment that can help to combat this? She has tried many blemish related products and had zero success.

She can try our Dermalogica facial followed with high frequency treatment. This facial will cleanse the skin deep and will calm it down. The best result will be after 3 treatments ,but the skin might improve much sooner depends on the condition. You are welcome any time for a free skin analysis which will determine the right treatment . We will also recommend products for home care ,so she can maintain the treatment results. We are based in Croydon high street. For more information 02086818503.

I would recommend Environ products. I will be switching from Clarin's to Environ in a few weeks.

Acne and blemish prone skin is very active and highly sensitive. It is always the tempation to apply creams which profess to being a 'miracle' cure. However these creams often contain harsh ingredients such as salicylic acid which strip the skin and promote even more oil production. The gentle approach is best and always try and treat with preparations that say 'for sensitive skin' on the label.
Having a face to face consultation with a knowledgeable skin specialist such as a Doctor is advisable to ensure that you get the best advice.

Yes, the Jurlique Facials are good, these are only natural ingredients made in Australia. Since your sister is only 14 she is going through her teenage years and she will have breakouts. As far as oily skin this can be balanced with a Jurlique facial, definitely.

Hi there.
There are many treatments/products available but without seeing your sister and discussing in detail many things diet, symptoms etc it is difficult to provide an accurate treatment plan. Where are you based. Please feel free to email me directly on beauty@homebeautysalon.co.uk

For young acne and oily spot suffers I use Obagi Clenziderm treatment. It is simple and effective. It is a prescription strength system containing a patented solubilised benzoyl peroxide which is able to penetrate the skin to dry up acne spots. There are some photos' on the links below.
It is also important to drink plenty of water, cut out sugars, caffein and sugary drinks. Ensure the diet is balanced with good sources of antioxidants and vitamins.

She would need a proper skin consultation but there are a number of treatments available that work and yet are still gentle enough for teenage skin. A good 'at home' product range is the Body Shop Tea Tree range. Please also remember that there are a number of other factors to consider such as diet and hormones too.

Hi Micaella-carroll, I use Eve Taylor skin care in my salon and they have an amazing range of skin care products for oily, acne skin care. They have a purifying facial wash, age resist active complex (an exfoliant) , purifying lotion and the purifying mask are all excellent products. The products are designed to rebalance the skin so it can treat and heal itself. They also have a cleansing brush to use when washing the face morning and night. I have a number of clients with oily acne skin and the results are fantastic. I must also declare that I am now an eve taylor trainer and work part time for the company along side running my own beauty salon at home. but I wouldnt have the products in my salon if I didnt think they worked, its the reason why I went on to work for them .. I cant really coment about any other range sorry. if you google eve taylor skin care the company website comes up and you will find their contact details and they will be able to advise you further if necessary.

Hi Micaela,
There are many topical treatment which work but they won't ever get to the cause which is normally due to one of more of the following:
Hormonal issues
Digestive ane elimination
Blood sugar imbalance
Diet
On the topical level I recommend exfoliating once a week and also mixing one drop of pure tea tree oil in her moisturiser twice a day. This will quell the infection and prevent more outbreaks and she should start to see change in about a week. She needs to keep it up though.
But to get to the real cause I advise her to:
1) Balance her hormones by eating raw nuts and seeds, high fibre foods, vegetables pulses and oily fish
2) Support her digestion and elimination by increasing water and fibre
3)Takin cinnamon every day to balance blood sugar
4)Clean up her diet by avoiding sugar and saturated fat.
Seeing a nutritionist will help her get to really get to= the bottom of the problem and get specific herbs or vitamins to balance her hormones and assist digestive and liver function.
With very best wishes.
