London based Italian writer crazy about yoga, pampering, shoes, cats, books, videogames, films and more pampering. I won't wear the same hair colour for over a month, but I'll re-read the same book 100 times.
Former Wahanda editorial intern, I'm now a huge fan from the outside.
I headed to Strip last Saturday, having booked a Brazilian Wax thanks to the fabulous Wahanda Mobdeal: having had to reschedule a couple of times during the day due to conflicting appointments, I found the girls to be extremely kind and accommodating.
On arrival I was impressed: the venue looks like a fancy lingerie boutique, with a lovely (if small) selection from some well known brands. I was whisked downstairs to the Olive treatment room, which was a bit masculine in colour shades for me, but very relaxing. I was left alone for a couple of minutes to get undressed, freshen up with wet wipes and lay down.
My therapist, Louisa, suggested I get a Hollywood instead of a Brazilian due to my previous laser sessions (hair is now weak in the area, wouldn't make for a pretty brazilian, said the professional).
I braced myself for the pain, while absent-mindedly watching 'How to lose a guy in 10 days' on the conveniently positioned flat screen on the wall, but there was none.
Louise kept rolling the sweet smelling Lavender (then Olive) wax on me, giving it a minute to solidify, then removing it with not so much as an 'ouch' from me aside from the really sensitive areas.
After the waxing it was time for my reward, the soothing indian head massage included in the Mobdeal. I even managed to treat myself with a collection of Sex and the City underwear thanks to the 20% discount.
I'm not surprised this is a celebrity favourite: I was really impressed with the quality of the service I received, the friendliness of the team and the venue itself, and I already booked my next appointment!
I took advantage of the wonderful Mobdeal for ten Vitalbody classes for 10£ back in February, and being already a yoga and pilates regular at my local gym, my choice fell on the six weeks burlesque course.
Fallon is a real dancer, a consummate professional and a lovely teacher: she really put us girls at ease from the first lesson, and had us shimming and shaking in no time. I enjoyed the course so much I will be using the rest of my voucher lessons to take additional burlesque classes. I wholeheartedly recommend it to groups of girlfriends or even solo females wanting to move a bit and try a different kind of workout.
I have been getting my hair cut and coloured at HOB salons (Stanmore first, now Bushey), since I moved to England, with high expectations and horror stories about British hairdressers in my head! I was lucky enough to met an amazing colour technician, Claire, who likes to experiment with my hair almost as much as I do!
She is incredibly talented, a great listener and she'll never force a colour on anybody.
This time I decided to go for cherry highlights on my bob, and they couldn't look better!
On my last visit I dragged my boyfriend for a much, much needed chop, and it was another happily ever after story. Couldn't be happier with all my experiences at HOB.
After closing down for a couple of weeks, LA Fitness Northwood is back, and what a makeover! Gone are the dingy carpets and old lockers, gone the tiny sauna and steam room. A brand new spa area near the pool has been opened, and it's a whole different after-workout relaxation half an hour. Unless you happen to pop in the jacuzzi when there's a children swimming lesson a inch away from you, like I did. Easily avoidable by looking at the timetables: highly recommended practice!
I highly suggest anybody looking for yoga lessons in the area to enquire about which instructor is teaching and when. The two instructors I came across have two very different styles, and are catering to already formed classes of ladies (and the odd gent). I had some trouble adjucting to the morning yoga routine after months spent in the evening class.
Definetly thumbs up to the management for finally equipping the gym with a stretching area, a separate free-weight room and a spinning room. No more sweat drops near my yoga mat!
I spent most of my Christmas holidays at the Terme di Saturnia with my family, and I would recommend it to anybody without hesitation. Everything is worth the (hefty) price: the therapists are professionals with experience, a great range of different massages, facials and treatments is offered, and the facilities in the beauty area are both stunning and relaxing.
The recently built Roman Bath, with aromatherapy room and the new sauna/steam room combo was underwhelming as far as space is concerned. The Hotel gets pretty crowded during the holiday season, so bigger rooms would have been appreciated.
Everything is forgotten as soon as you step foot in the thermal pool, look around at the breathtaking Tuscan scenery, relax with a glass of mulled wine and watch the sunset while the miracle water works for you!
The restaurants are also unmissable, and offer a great selection of typical, modern and diet-friendly dishes (there is also the possibility of having costumized diet menus under doctor's supervision).
The gym could definetly use improvements, but the pilates studio was a pleasant surprise. More studio classes to benefit of the excellence of Tuscan weathers could be organized, such as outdoors yoga or stretching.
Although many old guests have started complaining about the huge renovations and the more modern appeal of the resort, it still manages to offer five star luxury paired with comfort.
