I've finished my intro offer at yoga haven in Birmingham a.k.a. "hot yoga studio" and figured I'd write down my thoughts on it so I can remember how much I loved it.

I decided I wanted to try hot yoga when my old fitness routine of the gym wasn't doing it for me anymore. Ive read a lot about hot yoga in birmingham and I needed to shake things up, and yoga is one thing I've never tried before, so I went down to yoga haven near snowhill station in Birmingham.

Great staff, very friendly and very welcoming. The owner, a lady called Allie was also there and she chatted to me in depth about the benefits of hot yoga. She was super helpful and had a wealth of knowledge as she's been teaching for an impressive 13 years! She showed me around and was really excited to tell me they're expanding into the ground and lower grouond floors of the building and adding big changing rooms, more showers and toilets.

My first class was hard and I never realsied I could sweat this much! The tips about wearing as little clothing as possible were right, it's hot! 10 classes in, I was able to get into the poses a little deeper, my mind felt calmer and my overall happiness was on the rise.

I love this yoga studio and have become an annual member! My advise, one class isnt enough to decide if you like it, it certainly takes getting used to, but when you do, you fall in love with it!!!

I've been a dedicated member of Yoga Haven since it begun in 2008, my attendance has peaked and trough end over the years due to the distance I travel to the class (60 miles) but I am always welcomed back and not made to feel inconsistent attendance is a problem.

There is a variety of hot yoga and the more dynamic hot flow classes, as I like to mix up my yoga practise. Recently added Jivamukti which is new to the midlands by the lovely Emily which is amazing.

Teachers have years of experience and very knowledgeable. They all get trained by yogahaven and are very friendly and passionate about its smooth running and success. They use a nice balance of laymans terms and Sanskrit, so you understand what's being said in the class.

The only thing that lets YH Birmingham down is there's only one shower which can cause a bit of a wait after class, but I'm pretty sure the owner has plans for this to be addressed.

Staff in the desk very welcoming and sincere and if ever there is any issue regarding lost property, class bookings or even advice and feedback on your practice they are always more than happy to help in a friendly and professional manner.

I have never found a yoga centre that I get more from, it's always worth the journey, wish there was one on my doorstep!!

I decided to try out this studio after having some pretty disappointing experiences at other yoga venues around Birmingham. I was made to feel really welcome by all the staff, and there seems to be a lovely community feel to the place. The class I did was challenging but great - felt amazing after. The teacher seemed knowledgeable and being in the heat was tough at first, but I crave it now. Admittedly, the shower facilities could be better, but I was told by one of the receptionists that they're putting in more showers later this year. I left feeling ten times better than when I walked in. I've fallen in love with hot yoga and have now become a regular here. Would definitely recommend it.

A huge disappointment! The staff were unapproachable, pretentious and rude, the yoga teacher wasn't calming at all, told us we couldn't leave the room during the class- what if you're about to vomit like I nearly did?! The teacher was also a little on the tubby side- this was explained by her inability to do some of the poses! Surely a professional instructor would be skilled and an example of the benefits to your physique?? Not impressed at all, I have a ten day card but not sure I'll be using it again.

Oh and also- 1 SHOWER in the whole place! -That's between women and men! So either go home soaked in sweat or waste your evening even more by waiting an eternity to get your turn.
