We visited the Brentwood/Warley Virgin active for our spa and it is nothing like the images shown on the site and mor like a david Lloyd. The one in Romford is the same. Nowhere to sit by pool, big jacuzzi and adequate steam room, minature sauna. Mum and I have been going on spa days 3 times a year for about 7 years and this was the poorest experience. It started with her being told she couldn't use any facilities including the pool as she had ticked the blood pressure box although she is on tablets so has no problems, again this is the first time ever to be told this. Lunch was a costa but 2 hot Pannonia took 40 minutes to create and with 5 minutes before they were due out we were told no pesto in a chicken, pesto and mozzarella panini! Ended up it was cheddar too! Only thing good were the treatments

Booked this as a special birthday treat, was expecting a lot more than what we got!!!

Could not fault the whole spa experience, the girls who work in the spa are all lovely! Massages were great and such a relaxing experience, LOVED this!

Most of the facilities were out of order on the day we went, I understand this is not the hotels fault, but all staff were rude and we got the impression that they really couldn't care less about us not being happy! We weren't really given any information about what we could do, so ended up just going for a walk! I was so disappointed that no one had apologised or told us of anything else available for us to do!

Afternoon tea was also something that we were really excited about, and again unfortunately this was ruined by rude staff, stale sandwiches and dry, tasteless cakes!!!

Visited Marriott St Pierre with a voucher for use of the leisure facilities. Have visted before; lovely spa location in grand manor house grounds and golf green. Good service at spa reception. Using the aerobics studio for a bit of yoga, was no problem; nice of staff to kindly use their discretion with this extra ask!
The pool area was clean, with a beautiful, high, round wooden ceiling. The jacuzzi and steam room are lit for relaxation.
The only gripe was that there were quite a lot of families enjoying themselves... which is fair enough. But really not very relaxing for a spa day. The jacuzzi said no under 8's but this didn't deter a Dad and son clearly younger than that, from coming in to play.
I would definitely check in future if there are adult-only times because it was basically like a nicer version of a local leisure centre rather than a spa-hotel.

Cedar Court Hotel (Bradford) : Expectation was lacking for this spa-day package before we had even arrived, as it was not the venue originally advertised when the spa voucher was purchased. To say this venue was a 'spa' is a push, I would describe it as a hotel with a pool. The lunch was slow, due to the un-attentive staff, and disappointingly average. As a wedding party filed in when we were eating we felt pushed out of the lounge area. The changing facilities were small and basic. The swimming pool area facilities were again basic - no loungers, unprofessional signs, very small sauna, cold pool with what looked like lime-scale around the edge. All in all not a luxurious, relaxing day at all.

I visited the lovely Barnsdale Hall Hotel Spa with my husband. For the price of £48 we had a day at the Spa and a champagne lunch which was a good deal. The staff were helpful- especially when we had problems with the turnstile and tokens needed to enter the swimming pool area. It was a bit of a palaver really!
The following isn't really a criticism- it's just that as a mature couple (and me being a teacher!), it isn't really a quiet place to relax with like minded adults- there were a lot of parents with noisy young children there. As I said, not a criticism- it just wasn't what I expected at a Spa. Lovely for families though.
We went for a walk in the lovely grounds and drove a couple of villages down to spend a bit of time enjoying the views of Rutland Water.
The meal was delicious and the restaurant staff couldn't do enough for us. We even had the pleasure of listening to some sublime singing by a lady who effortessly gave renditions of jazz classics.

Montcalm Hotel London. Spa facilities are very clean, very small, but if you are lucky to be just two of you then is luxury experience. Hot tub is OK, just wish to be longer cycle on timer. Wet sauna is the best one with nice drop of eucalyptus oil in the air. Olympic style pool is great and spacious. Dry sauna is good too, same as heated lounger beside the pool. Plenty towels around and changing rooms are very comfortable. Staffs are welcoming and friendly. Other side of this experience was lunch...chosen main course was OK (very tasty and great presented, not Michelin star but close), but options are only 3...We decided to order an extra desert for us and then were disappointment of all our experience as that was disaster.... Manager apologies to us for this mistake what was made in the kitchen and finally didn’t charge on final bill. Like all hotel dining places have service style with overdosed friendliest ambience, but I would like to see more unofficial attitude and not artificial smiles...but I guess this was created by someone before. I would be back for some treatment to SPA, but not sure to dine anymore here...

We went to Swinton Park as this was closest to where we live (but still over 70 miles away).
This spa lacks a pool - but this is the only negative for a fantastic, and beautiful place. Treatments were extra, but worth the extra as my back massage was amazing. Food was very tasty, and huge portions. I would recommend this - so long as you don't mind the lack of pool.

Montcalm hotel - Me and my friend, arrived at the hotel around 10 and hit the gym staright away. We worked out for an hour and then had a leisuerly swim. We then had a lunch with champage, which was lovely! We then went back for steam and sauna, which was really hot. The water of the jacuzzi was very hot as well, me and my friend, we chilled out on the loungers and read our magazine. The venue was really small, but luckily it was only me and my friend who used the facilities, so we had a really good time. In the afternoon, we went for afternoon tea with cakes, which were delicious. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We were both very glad to have rested vefore hitting the shops in the evening!
