Verbena Spa at The Feversham Arms

The Feversham Arms Hotel & Verbena Spa is wonderfully positioned in the middle of the North Yorkshire countryside in the idyllic market town of Helmsley. The spa is connected to the Feversham Arms Hotel via an elegant glass walk way fusing the contemporary and traditional; a theme throughout the hotel.

The Feversham Arms Hotel has a total of 33 rooms (20 of which are suites) all of which are characterised by an individual décor and style. Each room is different but all provide the complete luxury experience with large soft beds, Bang & Olufsen televisions, cds and dvds and views across the courtyard (complete with heated swimming pool) or Helmsley.

Award winning chef, Jason 'Bruno' Birkbeck, ensures all food is seasonal, innovative and guaranteed to make your mouth water. The 3 rosette restaurant is the perfect setting for a romantic meal, family get together or Sunday lunch.

The Verbena spa relaxation lounge is defined by plump cushions, sofas you sink into, and views across the south facing terrace garden. The floor to ceiling glass doors and windows bring the essence of the lemon verbena plants and all manner of English country garden perennials into the tranquillity of the lounge. The garden was designed by Matthew Wilson of the RHS and allows spa guests to relax in the sunshine whilst enjoying a light lunch, perhaps a glass of champagne, or even a dip in the outdoor hot tub or heated swimming pool.

Elemis has provided a range of exotic and indulgent spa therapies that are results driven and award winning, but also focus on allowing guests to recharge and refresh. Jessica have designed a choice selection of manicures and pedicures that ensure you hands and feet receive just as much pampering as the rest of you. The Verbena spa also offers a variety of packages tailored to specific needs. Many packages include lunch from the spa-tisserie menu, which features healthy food that will set your taste buds tingling. The Verbena spa tapas is the favorite, which allows guests to sample seasonal delicacies, perhaps rounded off with a home made smoothies.

The spa houses six singe treatment rooms and one couples room, in which guests can experience a tandem therapy, perfect for couples or ladies who would like to have a chat whilst they’re pampered. The spa has an extensive heat experience including an aromatherapy room, salt inhalation chamber, saunarium, monsoon shower, foot spas and ice fountain. This section can be experienced in conjunction with treatments or on its own as a wonderfully effective detox for your skin, sinuses and mind.

All together the Feversham Arms Hotel & Verbena Spa provides a haven for people to retreat from the pressures of life; to take some time to indulge their bodies and relax their minds. The ultimate luxury hideaway experience.

Very, very nice - it was beautiful weather so the outdoor hot-tub and pool (which were wonderful) may not be as great on a less clement day, however the facilities were top-notch.

I booked the couples Spa day @ Verbena Spa, The Feversham Arms for our 1st Wedding anniversary.
The location is idyllic in the beautiful Village of Helmsley. Just a shame we didn't get change to explore more.
The Spa & Staff were excellent and couldn't do enough for us. We both had a 1 hour massage which we both felt was excellent and really helped you relax. The facilities, whilst a little small, were good with a range of relaxing spa rooms, hot tub and swimming pool. Included in the Couples spa day you also had a 1 course lunch and a glass of wine. The food was really good and I would certainly recommend the Beef Burger meal.
The Spa had a lovely relaxing atmosphere and plenty of soft lounging chairs which you could chill out on. They also provided complementary Wi Fi access so could easily browse the internet and keep up to date using my ipad.
Overall for the value of money it was definitely worth it and could not fault what was a really great relaxing day in excellent surroundings. I would certainly recommend and I will certainly be returning to Verbena Spa, The Feversham Arms. Well done on an excellent package.

Great location and the hotel itself is stunning, the staff were good and the room really nice. Enjoyable spa experience and lovely food, the only negative from the whole experience although the quality of food was up there with the rest of the rosette awarded restaurants I have visited you don't get as much substance or as many courses as most tasting menus for the price I did expect a little more. But do not let this comment take away from the fact that the standard of food was exceptional.

I chose the Elemis Pamper Me Twice spa deal for myself and a friend to celebrate her birthday. The place itself is in a really beautiful setting out in the middle of nowhere in the North York Moors, so was lovely and quiet. We were both impressed with the decor - very plush, warm and welcoming, you felt like you'd come to a log cabin for a break away.

We both chose the same 3 treatments, the facial, deep tissue massage and manicure, all lasting an hour, hour and half an hour respectively. All 3 were very good, the Elemis products used smelt and felt amazing. We both commented that it was so relaxing that we'd fallen asleep during one of the treatments, a good sign I'm sure! The manicure was done with Jessica nail polish and products and the girl I had, Kym, was very good. It was probably the best manicure I've had actually, really thorough and precise.

In between the treatments we went to use the spa facilities. I think there probably could have been more on offer and perhaps a bit more spaced out - they are enclosed around one area and it got quite busy at one point and we weren't able to use anything so had to wait. We did enjoy the hot tub outside with a glass of Prosecco which was brought out to us, felt quite luxurious, although it could have done with being a bit hotter (had some trouble trying to change the temperature on the dial).

For lunch we could chose from anything on their lunch menu, my friend chose the ham hock broth and I chose the chicken, brie and bacon open sandwich. Really delicious, restaurant standard and also enjoyed a free glass of Champagne.

All the ladies were really helpful and friendly, their service couldn't be faulted really. The treatments were very good, however I think for the price there are a few things that could have been better. Our gowns and slippers given to us were a brown, thick cotton that seemed a bit worse for wear and some old flip flops. We did notice that other guests (we assume those staying at the hotel) that had lovely white fluffy gowns and slippers, so I don't see why all guests couldn't have had them (it did make us feel like a bit of a sore thumb). I think the spa facilities themselves could have been bigger and spaced out more, so you didn't feel like you were cramped in with other people. The ice cave was also a bit misleading, more like a glass bowl with some ice in it.

Overall it was a really good experience, very relaxing and pampering but I'm not sure I'd go back for that price, I think I'd be looking for something a bit more special.

Sceptical about outdoor pool in England in January but it was great. Massage was the best I have ever had. The suite of rooms was very spacious with great attention to detail. The quality of the evening meal was high class but for the price portions could have been a little more generous. We would certainly go again.

I have been twice now - firstly November 2010 and second time May 2012. Both times were fantastic - it is the best spa I've ever been too and it's just luxury. In November I went for a hen day - we had a treatment, afternoon and full use of the facilities. The manicure was fantastic and I was given a full bottle of Jessica nail varnish afterwards for 'touch ups'. The afternoon tea was also gorgeous - I think overall we all paid £75.

I went again in May 2012 on a £55 Whanda deal - use of facilities plus a light lunch. The lunch was lovely (not many vegetarian options though) - it was very delicate and 'light' (although we were a bit hungry after!!).

On both times we've enjoyed relaxing in the outdoor swimming pool, outdoor hot tubs and the inside rooms. I loved relaxing on the big comfy sofas, reading magazines and drinking tea in big fluffy dressing gowns.

I wouldn't hesitate to go ahead - I just wish I could afford to stay!!

We stayed for one night on a deal break. The large double bedroom was lovely but bathroom very small ( room 3 ) The spa was spacious with lots of comfy places to sit. The steam rooms ect good and we even managed to get into the outside hot tub but didnt risk the pool as it was a rather cold day!! The evening meal was delicous and the service top rate with friendly attentive waiters. All the staff in this hotel are excellent, well done.

Myself and a friend visited Verbena spa for the "two for one tuesday" offer and it was fantastic value for money! We received 2 1 hour treatments (body wrap and facial) which were bothe lovely and also had full use of the facilities, including the outdoor heated pool and hot tub, which were fab!

The spa is set in a lovely setting, with the gardens being well maintained and very aesthetically pleasing.

The staff were very attentive and looked after us throughout our stay and we felt truly relaxed and recharged by the time we left - which was our main objective!

Would definately visit again and next time stay overnight!
