DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!

I bought a wowcher and after trying to book for ages, made my way to this grotty, dirty, rank little shop only for the vile woman at VB to take me round the corner for a spray tan in the basement of a disused tattoo shop.

there was a spray tanner who was working in two rooms and i could hear her arguing with one woman who was freaking out about patches and streaks.

I didnt want to sit on the filthy bench looking at dirt, peeling pictures of tattoos and balls of hair on the floor let alone get naked there! so I left.

I have emailed VB and Wowcher over 20 times to try to get my money back - its the principle of the matter... not the money!

This place needs to be shut down by health and safety... I have made a complaint - think everyone else should too.

Dishonest. Disgusting. Dirty

DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!

I am not going to write a lengthy review about this venue, practically EVERY single point that has been noted in many of the previous reviews are correct and factual. The 'manager' is disgraceful and obnoxious, the staff seem like they are walking on egg-shells, the receptionist was treated like a slave. I really thought the staff were trying to make the best out of a bad situation, they are so young, inexperienced and unkept (understatement), but super sweet and friendly. My chaotic treatment was explained to me by the 'beautician' and took approximately one hour. I have to admit that the end result surprisingly is very very good, I would re-visit this 'spa' (LOL) ONLY because my feet feel like baby's feet! and the staff were friendly, I just hope the 'manager' is not there. For £20 with these results it is good value for money, relaxing it is not, clean it is not (dusty and unclean equipment), professional it is not, cheap it is with a 'good' end result. I think reading these reviews will manage anyone's expectations.

Very poor service! I had to wait hours for treatment. They cancelled on me at the last minute. Unfriendly rude staff. They didnt put my appointment in the diary. Dirty environment. I did not receive a full hour treatment. DO NOT GO THERE!

Stay away from this place. Seriously.
Extremely dirtry, wet towels on the floor, clutter all over the place, dust and an overall disregard for the facilities and instruments.
The staff was not exaclty rude but clearly inured to the place where they work.
I asked the therapist to stop mid pedicure because I could not bear the though of staying there any longer. Apologized because it was not her fault, her reply "I don't blame you".
Be warned: they are selling the place via groupon as Beauty by Fanta, I guess they are trying to hide the bad reviews.

Total dump with rude, confrontational and lazy staff!
I have never left a review until now but.... how is this place still in business!
To be honest, i was pleased they quadruple booked my time slot as the thought of one of them actually touching my body sent a shiver down my spine. Fair enough... things can go wrong with booking systems but reading the reviews - do they go wrong 15 times in a week. I have also never been spoken to so badly for no reason - the line ''we'll call you, maybe next week, and let you know when's a good time for us'' was the final straw...

If you have booked through Groupon, i'd ask for a refund. Having rang this week to do that very thing, i think you'll find you're not the only one...

DO NOT GO HERE!!!

My boyfriend kindly purchased a voucher on groupon for me to have a swedish massage. We received the voucher through groupon and followed the booking instructions which were to call the number and book an appointment... When my boyfriend called he was advised to make the booking online which we did and we received the booking confirmation...

I had booked the appointment for a day when I would really appreciate a massage and just before I was to leave the country for a holiday...

On arriving at the salon I was greeted with a grunt by the receptionist who was playing on her phone with her shoes kicked off.The first impression wasn't great but I thought I would write it off as one of those things as it was near the end of the day.

I was there at least 15mins prior to my appointment and at the time was the only customer to have arrived... at no point did they indicate to me that there was a problem with my booking.

At 6pm (the time my massage was to begin) 2 other people turned up who also had a massage booked for 6pm,.. as well 3 other people with appointments for an array of treatments..

The staff then became hostile and suddenly told me that I was now not on their system... I showed them the booking confirmation and explained to them that my partner had also spoken to the reception and had confirmed my booking and I asked them why it had taken till now to tell me this. It also appeared that at least 3 of the other women weren't on the system as well. One woman who was on the system for a massage at 6pm offered to go away for 15mins to help teh situation to which she was tiold you'll have to go away for much longer than that love!

The staff were EXTREMELY RUDE!! When i asked what they could do they just told myself and the other women we would have to wait and they would see.... they suggested that we could sit there for an hour or 2 and but even them we would only be able to have a 30min massage if we were lucky!!! I explained this was not what I had paid for or booked to which they explained it was that or I could just go away and come back when it was better for them!!.. they also then continued to explain that even though i had followed their booking procedure and that required by groupon the voucher lasts for 3 months so that gives them the right to move my booking or cancel it without my knowledge.

By 6:15pm nothing had been resolved and not a single person was receiving the treatment they had booked and piad for. I asked for a refund to make the situation easier to which I was told go speak to Groupon and 'Good Luck You'll need it!!' Or come back when it was better for THEM!

I then explained that I couldn't come in the next day or 'when was good for them! as a) I was the paying customer and my time was limited as I had other things to do amd b) I was leaving the country for a holiday... to whcih they responded well they voucher lasts for 3 months love I doubt you are going away for that long!

I left the Salon feeling cheated and extremely upset by the confrontational staff, who were extremely rude and aggressive. they offered no sympathy or any suitable resolution for the massive mistakes they had made.

I am surprised Groupon advertise deals for companies such as this.

I will say that during my time in the Salon I did need to use the bathroom, on doing so I did notice how dirty the salon was. The clean towels were kept on the floor out next to the toilet and there were large black rubbish bags next to the reception desk with a screen trying to cover them.

I shall be notifying Groupon of my experience but a word of warning from someone who has been a customer DO NOT GO!

I bought a voucher through Groupon for a massage in April. I was not able to book an appointment...website always down, no one answering the phone (tried at different times of the day) ...also, after reading the bad reviews here, I called Groupon that admitted to have "issues" with this salon. They happily refunded me my voucher!I have to admit I've been lucky this time....Be careful, it seems these people are back in Groupon with a different name, Beauty by Fanta, but adress is exactly the same...maybe they changed management and now is all OK, but you never know....

I bought a voucher for a massage on groupon. Having booked via their online system, the first time they cancelled my apointment. The second time, having gone all the way there and spent at least 10 minutes trying to find the place (its down an alley and there is no sign), they told me that they did not have my booking - despite me being able to produce email confirmation of the appointment!
They made no effort to apologise or sort the problem out which I was pretty surprised at! To be honest, it seems I got off pretty lightly reading some of the reviews on here and having seen the state of the place. There is a massage bed literally right next to the door, and a very cramped area with very little privacy for anyone receivcing treatments. I certainly wouldn't go back - and have asked GROUPON for a refund.
NOT RECOMMENDED!!!

Just a general thank you to those who have taken the time to share their experiences at this place. I shall not be going! Still, I see that 146 people have apparently bought a deal for this place, currently on Groupon - I guess not everyone checks reviews....

Please do not go to this salon, I had a massage in a room with a bare window (no curtain) no soft music (for relaxation) really dirty and soo not therapeutic . the manageress a very big woman was so so disinterested with her dirty pants showing over her filthy black legging and uniform top was also filthy. I was offered a class of water in a filthy glass which made me heave, However the girl that did my massage Rebecca was very chatty and friendly. I would strongly recommend not using this seedy salon, I have never seen such a place anywhere in the world. I have lost all faith in Groupon now and would never recommend their deals to anyone, if this is the sort of company they do business with.
DO NOT BOOK FOR THIS SALON you will be very disappointed

Cannot agree more - I went to this salon and it was so awful i walked out before I let them begin. They even admitted that they do not change the towels until the end of the day - yuk! I rang groupon though, and they gave me my money back (thankfully). Avoid this place at all costs!

From the moment I entered Vanessa Blake 'spa' I wanted to leave right away. The staff were unwelcoming, the atmosphere was horrible and it just felt like a dirty dump. I booked myself a pedicure after buying a discount voucher from Groupon. Luxury this 'spa' certainly was not. The staff were unqualified and rude. My therapist cut my skin whilst trimming my cuticles and stated'oh well, these things happen' whilst i had blood pouring rom my nail. The treatment should have lasted 1hour. I spent the first 20 mins in a wrap and the last 20mins under a drying machine. The rest of the time the therapist spent painting my nails which later smudged. I could have done a much better job myself at home and wish I had left when my gut instinct told me to. I also wish I had listened to other who had written honest reviews on this site. I am going to write to Groupon for breaching the Trade Descriptions Act. What they had written about Vanessa Blake made it sound like a luxury treatment when in fact this was nothing but a grimy unprofessional practice.

I'll try to keep this brief! I purchased a voucher through Groupon for a pedicure treatment.... never again.

This so called "spa" is an absolute joke. Its small, overcrowded, very dirty, and feels as though you have stepped into some kind of junk garage. I considered walking straight out again as soon as I stepped inside, but decided to stay. Its hard to even find the entrance at first, which is through an unmarked metal door.

Stepping inside I almost fell over people having pedicures done in the reception area. My therapist however, was very sweet, and tried to make the best of a bad working environment. The treatment itself was o.k., however my nail polish came off after my feet were wrapped in cling film so I could go home. I wanted the experience to be over asap. I was transferred from the treatment room to the reception area to wait for my polish to dry incase somebody else needed the room I was in. The owner of this place should be absolutely ASHAMED. As should Groupon for even plugging this place as somewhere to "relax" and enjoy a treatment. Didn't even come close to being worth the voucher value of £23.

DO NOT GO THERE. positive reviews of this place have probably been written by the owner.

I have bought a Groupon voucher for a pedicure at Vanessa Blake in Camden Town on the 23/02.
It takes me 3 weeks to be able to make a booking.
For 2 weeks the online booking system was down.
On the 3rd week after dialling the salon on speed dial for 3 days I managed to speak to somebody who book me for the early appointment 30/04.
So after waiting for 2 months I went the salon the past Saturday.
After ready the bad reviews about Vanessa Blake in Camden Town – I had the feeling that I would get a bad treatment too!
I was booked for 12h.
Glad I was early as it took me a while to found the entrance of the salon - that was challenging already as this doesn’t look like a beauty salon but more like an old dirty garage on the back of Camden Market!
I will not event bring my car to do the MOT!!
Anyway I walk in the salon and nobody say ‘Hi’ or ‘welcome’ – you had 3 rude receptions standing at the reception area.
As I was guessing my appointment was not in the system and soon as mention the name of the person who I spoke on the phone on one of the rude receptionist give me excuses that this person has been sacked… blablabla… so I said that’s not my problem I want my pedicure!
This rude girl told me that she was the manager – OMG!! That’s a joke as she had no customer care at all and was so rude and full of attitude!!
Anyway of course they were full on that day and I had to make a new appointment – no think I will not come back!!
When I was walking to the door – I heard them laughing at me… and she is the manager?!?!?
You need to go back to basic ladies, groom yourself and change your jobs!!!
So please do me a favour – DON’T GO TO VANESSA BLAKE dirty garage event if you have a cheap voucher!!!

I agree with the women who have written below. This 'Spa' is an absolute dump with staff that is rude and obnoxious. I could not believe that the place was falling apart and was extremely dirty, it was gross but I'm getting ahead of myself. I initially did find the street it is located at but there is no obvious sign stating that there is a 'Spa' in the area, rather the Camden Market toilets were located there. I thought I had the wrong place! I asked around and it seemed that no one had any idea that it existed. I kept trying to call the place for 20 mins and either the phone was busy or no one picked up but when I finally realized that it is located through this grey half broken door and walked in, there were 3 women just standing around the reception and phone!!!

When asked why they did not pick up, the blonde lady who works there snapped and said that they were all in treatments and she cannot help me since I'm late. Every question I asked seemed to have a very rude and loud answer. It continued that way and honestly I just could not hack speaking to her or standing in that disgusting room anymore. I let them re book my appointment but there is no way in hell that I'm going to go back there, I do NOT want to be barefoot in that place. Reading the reviews on line I don't think many customers do.

I had a groupon coupon for treatment. Calling this place a spa is the equivelent of calling an KFC outlet a gourmet restaurant. It is grubby and the facilities poor and treatment unprofessional. I have to agree with all the negative comments about this place. Having read the 'wonderful' review in March. Iscrolled down and was interested to read the same review word for word, even the same name in Jan. It is obviously a 'professionally' written review to counter the more truthful reviews. The place is grubby, the treatment, cursory: Applying of cream and leaving for over 45 minutes before sanding the hard skin off. The therapist - who wore her outdoor clothes - wore gloves but inadvertently transferred some of the cream onto the soft tissue on my leg and the front of my foot resulting in burning. I couldn't wait to get out of the place.

I bought a groupon deal to go to this 'spa' and it has put me off buying groupon vouchers. I arrived for my 5pm appointment just before 5 and took a seat in their cramped waiting area. I spent the next 10 minutes listing to one of the staff being very rude to a customer on the phone, not a great first impression. I then spent the next 20 minutes thinking, they're obviously running late but surely can't be much longer. I was wrong, I finally had my appointment at 6pm, an hour late and the reason for them being late was not because they were over running, the therapist was available but didn't like using the room that was free, she wanted to wait for the one that was in use! I couldn't believe it and was certainly not particularly relaxed by the time I had my treatment but I thought maybe my massage would help relieve my tension. Wrong again. It was the worst massage I have ever had. The therapist treated me like she was massaging a bodybuilder (which I am most definitely not). It was incredibly painful, a horrific experience. Luckily the facial afterwards was good but I couldn't wait to get out of there. Even if you find the most amazing deal for this place, don't go, it'll ruin your day and the next few days if my massage was anything to go by!

Unless in extreme cases, I'm reluctant to leave entirely negative feedback on an experience as I know how damaging it can be to small businesses. However, I would without reservation say avoid this 'spa' at all costs.
I bought what I thought was a bargain pedicure from Groupon for £21 at Vanessa Blake in Camden. It turns out this was too good to be true.
As previous reviews describe, the building isn't easy to find and looks run down from the outside. I arrived 5 minutes early for my pedicure and walked into what seemed to be a very dark reception and treatment area combined - not particularly welcoming, private or relaxing. I was 'greeted' by three members of staff behind the desk who all looked blankly at me. I explained my booking and was asked for my voucher. I had printed out my Groupon voucher but, unfortunately, I had forgotten to bring it with me - I did explain however I had all the information as an evoucher on my smartphone and showed them this. I can see how this may have been inconvenient for them, but being a business who seem to deal with Groupon a lot, I thought this wouldn't have been a huge problem. I was wrong and was told I would have to obtain a printed voucher. Being 5 miles from home, it wasn't an option to go back and retrieve my forgotten print out. One of the girls informed me there was an internet cafe at the back of Morrisons. I don't know the area particularly well, and asked for directions. Again a blank stare. I realised I didn't have any cash on me to pay to use the internet cafe and it's printer and asked where the nearest cash point was. Yet again, another blank stare. In fact, a customer waiting gave me directions as I think she sensed how unhelpful the staff were being. To make matters worse it was raining heavily. As I turned to leave in search of the internet cafe I was asked if my appointment was at 1pm, I replied yes, and was then informed this would eat into my treatment time. I was astounded at how inflexible, unhelpful and downright rude the staff were. This was meant to be a relaxing and enjoyable experience. At that point I couldn't think of anything less relaxing and enjoyable than spending the next hour with staff who couldn't care less, and receiving my treatment in the reception area of a run down 'spa'. I decided to forfeit the £21 and not return.
I would warn anyone against going here. I can't comment on the quality of the treatments as my experience of Vanessa Blake was no negative I didn't get that far. When you work in a service industry, you must be prepared to be pleasant at the very least to your clients, especially those who have already paid for a service. There seemed to be a wall of hostility and an attitude of inconvenience there - something I have never experienced on that level at a spa before. AVOID.

Arriving half an hour early, I walked into, what looked like a waiting area. I was looking at 2 ladies on chairs with a towel over their legs! Behind the wall and the 2 ladies was a reception desk. I apologised for arriving early and was told I could wait. I waited and waited. The girls had not had time for a break. Lovely girls working there. Friendly. I wasn't offered a drink on arrival and was a little surprised at the dirty floors. Noone asked me if they could take my coat to hang up, so I sat on it and then dragged it around with me later. Another girl sitting on a chair almost next to me was waiting with her feet on bare dirty floors following her pedicure waiting for her toes to dry. I was really hoping I wouldn't be treated on the chair by reception so that anyone walking in from outside looked straight at me. 45 minutes after I arrived and 15 minutes after my appointment time, I was offered a chair in front of the door at reception. As we passed the nail varnish, I was asked to choose a colour. One of the colours was too thick and needed replacing! I got to my chair. Nothing was explained to me. I wasn't asked about allergies. The girl was lovely and finally offered me a drink after rubbing in some cream. No idea what it was and then wrapping my foot in cling film for 15 mins while she disappeared. In the meantime, a father and son walked in looking at me. I didn't feel at all comfortable with this. The older man was sat in the chair right next to me watching the next part of my treatment. I just wanted to get out of there. Finally the girl painted my nails. I don't remember having a foot massage at any time. The nails looked good, but then I had to walk on the dirty floor to sit where I started on arrival! One therapist saw me trying not to put my feet on the floor, so kindly brought a towel for me to put my feet on. I asked for some drying spray to speed up the process so I could get home. There was no spray, so she tried wrapping me in clingfilm to go home and of course some of my nail varnish was already OFF! I decided not to get it done again. I wanted to get home. I'd already been there 2 hours and there were so many people around I needed to leave. I kept my socks off and went home where I re-did the toes that needed to be done myself. My skin around the heels was still rough. I could have done a better job at home myself without having had the awful experience of what should have been a relaxing switch off pedicure (as described), which was instead, a rushed, stressful experience and not very well done. No, I will not be going there again. Groupon has worked very well for them, but if it's privacy you want, this is not the place to go.

I have recently been to Vanessa Blake Spa as I was given a voucher from my mum. It was for a hydro facial and a full body massage.

I went with my friend and it was lovely to find the Spa located in the middle of the hustle and bustle of busy Camden. The place was really cosy and the amosphere relaxed. The therapists were all friendly and attentive despite having lots of clients who were enjoying their treatments. I went into a treatment room at the back of the Spa that was nicley decorated in silver and black. I felt very relaxed when the therapist started massaging me and even fell asleep. This lasted for an hour and then I had the hydro facial experience. This was the first hydro facial I have had and my skin felt so youthful. I was really pleased with both treatments and felt comfortable with the therapist for an hour and a half. She was extremely professional and aware of the massage techniques to help with my back ache. During my massage the therapist used the Vanessa Blake healing gel - it felt really lovely and my skin felt refreshed and soft. I even purchased a bottle of the healing gel to take home.

After the massage I was offered a cup of tea and a magazine whilst I waited for my friend who had a luxury pedicure .... this incorporated a callous treatment which I have never seen done before. My friends feet felt so soft. She bought a tin of Orba footcream which had a fabulous peppermint smell.
After seeing the pedicure I will certainly be coming back to have the pedicure done as I would love to have the callous treatment done. Big thanks to the Casey for being so sweet and giving me a great afternoon - she is fabulous at Swedish massage.
