Hotel part was fantastic and great staff. However we paid the extra money so as to enjoy a 55mins treatment each, we were massively short changed. I had a aromatherapy massage by Magdelena which lasted 40mins, 15mins short!! Worst massage I've ever experienced too, my 8yrs old niece gives a better neck and shoulder massage! She kept walking all the way across this huge room to get more oil which kept wasting time, it was honestly a total shambles. She didnt seem to know what she was doing at all. Also her stomach kept on rumbling too which was so awkward and annoying. She even took her shoes off mid massage! Left feeling more stressed than I did when I went in due to getting so annoyed at how awful it was and what a waste of money. Used a Macdonald Spa before at an other location and it was a million times better. What a disappointment! Jacob the Concierge and the restaurant staff from the hotel were all brilliant though but do not waste your money in the spa. My friend had a facial and she too was less than impressed. We both left feeling hugely disappointed and annoyed at how much it had cost £139.50 each!!
Booking with the vouchers was no problem at all. On arrival at the hotel, my mum and I received a warm welcome, and any questioms we asked were answered. Our room was not the best, but as we were staying one night, we stayed. However our duvet was in a bad condition with the stuffing in shreds, this made it patchy. We asked for this to be changed, this was done. The room was clean, but needed decorated and new furniture as the walls were marked and the furniture in need of being replaced. However saying this, the hotel was nice, our evening meal was lovely and we really enjoyed it. The spa was good, with new gym equipment, clean changing areas, pool and other spa facilities were in good repair. Our treatment was lovely, but not long enough. My mum said she was taken later, and had not received her full 25 mins. Over all though, I would recommend this hotel.
Had a fabulous break and were upgraded to a suite as we had to wait for room to be ready. Spa facilities were one of the best we had been to super relaxtion area and the facial was the best ever they did our shoulders arms and hands. the only criticism would be dining room staff did not have their act together but the food was very good.
Hotel is looking very tired for a 4 star! We got allocated a room at the front of the hotel where there were roadworks taking place so we were woken at 8:00am. Shower and hanging area in the spa area wasn't tidy, there were empty glasses all over the relaxing area and no clean glasses - felt to me that they were either understaffed or the staff weren't doing there job.
A beautiful traditional hotel in a fantastic location with stunning views. Spa facilities were fabulous. Our room was very cold but they eventually sent a heater and it didn’t spoil the visit. Dinner was lovely. Very friendly and helpful staff.
