I cannot think of any gentlemen's spa in Mayfair better than The Refinery. It's an all time favourite spa of mine. Good facials, haircuts and massages.

Nice deal but make sure you get all the items you pay for. Only after leaving did I realise I didn't get all I had paid for. Keep voucher with you and check.

Really nice, chilled out venue. The therapist gave me a great shave and facial massive. When I left I felt really relaxed and refreshed. Probably wouldn't go back at the full price, but with the voucher it was excellent value for money and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this - great place.

I was offered a Wahanda MobDeal voucher from my team as a birthday present at the Refinery for a shave. Since I have a beard, and had no intention of shaving it off, the spa was nice enough to exchange it for a 30 minute massage which I really enjoyed. My only regret was that it was not longer. The therapist was very good and the treatment rooms are comfortable and well appointed. My only comment is that the public areas probably need a bit of a refresh.

i bought this experience for my husband on a date night and he thoroughly enjoyed it. It's a very upmarket venue with helpful, friendly staff and a lovely setting. The massage therapy was very good and the additional gift pack was a bonus. With the special Wahanda rate, it was well worth the visit. Would definitely consider going again for a special treat.

Great place for guys, also if you don't take care of yourself very often. I got the Wahanda voucher for a massage and on the day changed it for a facial. The Refinery was very flexible which is great and get me back in. Good job!

My husband had an enjoyable experience at a men only spa. He found the massage very relaxing and took home a lovely gift set of products that he is using regularly. He will return to the venue to try the shaving.

I bought the offer (£35 for a 45 min massage and Refinery gift bag) for my partner who called and booked in together with a friend who also had been given the same deal by his partner. The therapist was unable to apply enough pressure during the deep tissue massage and he also got the feeling that since it was an offer they couldn't really be bothered. The products he was given came in a very nice looking gift set but upon trying them they had separated and didn't smell right. He would not go back again

My husband went (got this for him as a gift) and he wasn't that impressed. The therapist didn't give him that great of a massage and he told me the receptionist staff was rather snobby to him (despite going after work dressed in a full suit/tie). He told me he won't return...

Men's facial.
Horrible pokey 'cubicle'. Paid for an hour got 45 mins. I bought this as a valentines present for my partner he was not over impressed to say the least. When he complained at the Refinery he was told the time starts the minute you walk in the door... thats a new one on me.

I complained by email to manageress who said if he popped back he would get 15 more minutes! Nice.
He wouldn't go back if they offered a free one. Be warned.

A very enjoyable experience with various different types of mud for face and body followed by a gentle steam. Then came the rain (not really rain) to wash off the mud. Shower and then lovely creams for the face and body. The free gift was a lovely bonus!

Great atmosphere, great treatment, great facilities, all within a stones-throw from Claridges. Their hairdessing facilities are also top notch. The lounge area, replete with magazines, was a nice touch for post-massage relaxation. My Wahanda mob-deal voucher was accepted seemlessly.

I purchased this for my darling Boyfriend who was in need of a pick me up. He said the place was great - very nicely designed and very geared towards its clientele which seems to be the wealthier side of working men. Quite masculine and refined (as the name would suggest!) He had only good things to say about the massage - conducted by an attractive lady (important I feel for a heterosexuals mans treat !). However - part of the deal was a goodie bag which was not offered to him. He forgot to ask so it meant that part of the offer was missed out on. Bit of a pity as this was something I feel he would have enjoyed. I may purchase another massage for him at some stage but the normal prices are a littel above my league

My partner couldn't have been more complimentary about his experience. If the ongoing price was just a little cheaper, I think he'd choose to have this experience every month, if not every couple of days! He was silky smooth and totally relaxed. A perfect treat for the man who has everything...

It was my first time at a London Spa, and given the current exchange rate for the Euro, it was relatively affordable compared to the past.
For the ambience, I was a bit disappointed at first. If you have ever been to a spacious spa in an upmarket hotel, you now what I have been missing. Hey, this is central London, the idea of space has a different meaning here.

However, the treatment, a "deep tissue massage" was astonishing. I have had massages before, but nothing that could equal the experience. My therapist was not only professional and genuinely friendly, but the massage really yielded in a much better result than anything before.

I definitely will come back.

Sounds like a really good place. I have been thinking about getting something for my husband for valentine's day and this seems perfect.

The Refinery, what a disappointment! I showed up 10 minutes before my scheduled treatment and had to wait 20 minutes in a tired waiting room, blasting BBC News 24 on a huge screen (why should I see images of terrorist attacks before a relaxing treatment?). No hot drinks were provided, and the only heating system was a portable electric heater - very five star. My 30 minutes massage lasted less than 20 minutes (it started with a 10 minutes delay due to 'room preparation', but it ended promptly at the scheduled time). The cold treatment room had no heating, so the therapist had to leave the door open to let some heat through the noisy heating system in the corridor. The lighting was bad, the floor dirty, and a cheap CD player was providing some bad background music through the noise. The Refinery is totally overvalued, there are dozens of better alternatives in central London. Book at your own risk.

Wow, it sounds like you had a terrible experience - did you mention any of these issues to the management, or to the therapist during your visit? I would have thought they would have at least given you the full 30 minutes, and I would also assume they would be aware of the noise and heating problems - would love to hear your thoughts!

I complained with the therapist about the noise and the cold room, but she just acknowledged the fact and went on to tell me that she works for another centre in the City, Monday to Wednesday, and to go there for a better experience. When I told the receptionist that I felt shortchanged for paying £45 for a 20-minutes massage, she said that the treatment time includes about 10 minutes of 'room preparation', and she simply gave me a comment card to fill up.

Great location, great spa, great treatments. After a long and busy week spilled into the weekend, the deep tissue massage was exactly the right thing. It was executed brilliantly and I got the warning upfront that its going to be deep unless I'd indicate to have it softer. I did towards the middle. Right after the massage, in the same room, I tried their new facial, a 30min rather quick abrasion of old skin. Brilliant as well. Much less lengthy than the usual ones and not so much of a focus on the creams. Well, there were a good dozen, but it was great.

The atmosphere at The Refinery is great as well. Only shame that I spent the whole time in one room, so kinda missed out on this. Oh well, maybe go back soon for a haircut or so.
