The Gym is developing its exciting new fitness concept nationwide and will shortly be opening a number of new Gyms in London and other provincial cities.
The Gym concept is completely different to any other health club offering in the UK. We provide access to health and fitness facilities, in the panoramic surroundings – 24 hours a day. Furthermore, we are able to do this without the need for a contract.
With only the treadmills requiring electrical power and by using less water than traditional health clubs, we are minimising our footprint.
The Gym workout:
- Matrix Quick Circuit.
- Free initial exercise induction.
- Personal training available.
- 170 pieces of state-of-the-art Gym equipment.
- Changing rooms with showers and lockers.
Services at this venue are not bookable online.
Have you been here?
The Gym does exactly what it says on the tin. If you're someone who can't live without the sauna or a massage after a workout then don't come here! However, if all you require is a basic workout that offers the best in 24/7 gym facilities without breaking the bank, then you're in the right place.
I've been a member (an errant one) since it opened in September 2010, and I can't really fault it. The Gym West Hampstead is a large, basement gym, located beneath a housing development next door to Tesco Express. I tend to go in the afternoon when it's not too full. The 24-hour access ensures that gym usage is staggered so you'll always be able to get onto a machine without waiting around too long.
It's clean - as in hygienic. I regularly see the staff giving the gym equipment a good going over, and the locker room, showers and toilets are pretty much spotless too.
The ambiance is ok - standard plasma screens showing music videos, mats, mirrors, vending machines, etc.. The people that come here are focused on their workout and get on with it, that being said, the atmosphere is not unwelcoming, and the staff are friendly enough and happy to help you if and when you need it. I believe they're offering classes now. I'm not sure if they're free or not, and they would do well to publish the timetables online in the members' area, and have paper copies to take away alongside the personal trainers' leaflets. That aside, I would recommend The Gym to anyone who lives in NW6 area as an alternative to the bigger operators.

Myself and my husband joined early on at the £9.99 price with no joining fee. We went for the first time last sunday 10.10.2010 armed with our personal pin number to allow us entry. My pin was recognised on the first attempt, and allowed me through the glass pod into the gym area. My husband was stuck on the other side as his number wasnt being recognised. no mmeber of staff near the entrance, so I went back thru and let him thru on my pin with me. On the way out my husband had help from a member of satff, as he wasnt pushing the pin pad hard enough. to my suprise I received an email on the following monday stating that owing to pin abuse I was banned from the gym for life!! I wrongly assumed that once I had explained the situation with it being our first visit, and the other person coming in with me on my pin, was my husband another gym member and indeed the one who pays for us both, I received another email saying now I had identified th eother person and given his pin number he was banned aswell. After contacting the west hampstead mamager, he said we could be re instated at the higher price with a final warning to be placed on our records!!. Customer service in this instant almost non exisitant, you really are just a number to them, as at that price they have enough people wanting to join. I am at present taking tjhis matter higher. I mentioned that this shoul dbe stated on each pod when entering, their response is its in the rukes nad regulations, but all we can find is the sentence, misse of pin will result in a ban" surely misuse means allowing a non member in, or giving your pin to somene else to use as well, NOT allowing another member in when they are struggling to enter. VERY VERY poor respponse from the gym club
