One of seven brothers, Matt Lock, treasured youthful memories of taking his friends along to his brother’s salon late on a Friday or Saturday night. The hair-cut and shave were almost incidental as it also afforded them an opportunity to play their favourite music, get the beers out and swap stories before heading into town!
When the salon closed, the guys struggled to find a similarly relaxing environment offering quality service. One evening in 2004 some of the Lock family were chatting about “the good old days“ and this planted the seed for a new concept, namely: “The Gentry Grooming Co“. After months of research and a stint for Matt’s wife, Adele, in the first ever series of “The Apprentice“, the first salon was opened in 2005.
The business continues to grow and also now includes their own skincare range, The Gentry’s Essentials Range, which is available online and in the salons. The aim of the team is to provide a contemporary, informal and masculine environment where men can lose any inhibitions they may have about caring for their appearance.
