Having frequented some of the top spa's in the North East I was not expecting too much from the Garage Spa; my expectations were absolutely exceeded.

We were met by professional, friendly and approachable staff (Natasha) who were efficient without being overbearing. We were shown round the beautiful surroundings and the treatments and facilities were explained in detail without oversell (as you see in so many other Spa's), which only made us want to come back and try them all out!

The food was excellent as was the service we received.

The therapist (Simon) was superb! His knowledge and expertise made for a safe, effective and deeply relaxing treatment.

The facilities were excellent, spotless clean and inviting.

Overall it was an exceptional day out. Anyone wanting to experience the very best Spa experience without breaking the bank should visit. I will be back for a longer overnight stay.

When I opened up my birthday card from my husband and found we were heading for a Spa - Afternoon Tea at The Garage I was over the moon as we had our wedding reception here last June.

Firstly, we must say how great The Spa was, as it was booked for my birthday in Feb, however our daughter was taken into A&E and the staff were so obliging in changing our date to March at short notice so thanks to them for doing that.

Having been to a few Spas before, it was nice to be greeted by a friendly staff member in the lovely reception area. It was so cosy and created the relaxed atmosphere from the outset. The only decision that was taken out of our hands was the choice of therapist and in the Spa's I have been to before the therapists have always been women. Although abit dubious of a male that would be conducting my massage, in learning that Simon had done various roles but worked in the area for 10 years set me at ease, so it may be nice to inform people or offer a choice of male/female therapist. It didn't matter as he was very professional and explained the health and safety, checked for any illnesses etc. and also removed a knot from my shoulder that has made me feel like a new person.

More on the facilities -they were excellent and we enjoyed the pools and seating in the swinging chairs. The outside courtyard was fabulous and we even enjoyed being sat out in our robes even on a chilled March day. It was good that the Spa had staggered events for the day, and there were just the right amount of people in the Spa at the same time.

The changing rooms were good - but think as someone else had put, there was everything you needed although perhaps something on the shower that may keep the water in would be good, plus, the condensation dripped down from the toilet cistern onto my dry things. Although excellent idea in putting the toilets in the changing rooms.

The staff - could not have been more friendly and the afternoon tea was beautifully presented and was lovely.

We thoroughly enjoyed our spa experience and with us holding our reception here we love the Morritt in any case, we just wish the Spa was built when we had our wedding as this would undoubtedly add an extra experience for those who get married in future. We will definitely be coming back!

Fantastic setting and excellent therapists. Having been to a few spas over th epast couple of years I felt the treatments were on the expensive side and this would deter me from going back as I can have similar treatments elsewhere for a considerable amount less.

I recently spent a day at The Garage with a friend. We booked the rasul mud pit and a full body massage each. For us, it was quite expensive, so we wanted everything to be perfect. It nearly was....... but a few little aspects could be improved to make this spa stand out from the competition in the locality.
Firstly, I must say the staff are fabulous, very welcoming, friendly, helpful and will do anything for you. It was nice to see a male therapist there too and he was very helpful and has a lovely manner. The treatment rooms are gorgeous and the massage I had from Charlotte was the best ever, she is so professional, as are the other staff. The quality of furnishings and fittings throughout are lovely and the food served to us at lunch over in the hotel was superb.

However, a few points which personally I think could be improved upon: (mostly little things but they all add up to the overall experience) :

The lockers are tricky to open as they have no handle / knob
The changing rooms with shower all had empty bottles of shampp / body wash, no conditioner. We had to ask for some more. Only one hook, although a very nice hook!
The showers flood the floor so you have to be careful to move stuff back or it gets wet
In the wet steam room, the ceiling is already peeling and the floor is incredibly slippy
The outdoor hot tub, the jacuzzi bubbles only come on once an hour! and the vent in the bottom of the tub sucked my finger in and was a bit dangerous
There were no instructions in the mud pit and although the therapist had talked us through it, when the lights started changing colour and different things began to happen we realised we hadn't been listening and weren't sure what to do! A simple list of instructions on the wall would have helped. Again, the shower flooded under the door into the changing area and we came out to find our slippers floating!
Soft music playing throughtout the spa would be nice as the sound of extractor fans does not add to the ambience. Also, candles around the indoor hot tubs would make it more homely and cosy.
Our therapist had forgotten about our mud treatment and we had to go and remind her that we were still waiting.
I did emerge from the spa feeling very relaxed and my skin felt amazing. I have noticed since being at the spa that my asthma is so much better after being in the salt room, so I hope the benefits last.
Would I return to The Garage? Not sure, maybe if there was a special offer!

The spa is beautiful. The facilities are top class and the staff couldn't have been nicer. I went with my friends for my birthday and not one of us had a bad thing to say about the whole experience. I would recommend The Garage Spa to anyonend I'll definitely be going back in the near future. Thank you for an amazing day :)

Fortunate enough to win a prize in a national magazine for a nights stay in the hotel, dinner and full use of the Garage Spa for my husband and I. First time in a spa but if this anything to go by not the last. The staff were very welcoming and knowlegeable and the surroundings, inside and out, were splendid. I had a full body massage with Simon who was very friendly and the hour just flew by. This was followed by a fantastic facial treatment. Husband had the full body massage and although not strictly the right thing to do followed it with a great pint of real ale from the hotel. The other facilities ie sauna, salt room, steam room, jacuzzis were all top notch and beautiful areas to chill between sessions. All in all a fantastic prize and one I will be willing to pay for next time.

We first learnt about the Garage Spa from a recent article in the Telegraph and couldn't believe that it was on our door step. We were intrigued by the use of a former garage in a spa context. Immediately as you enter the thought of any smells of engine oil are dispelled as you are greeted with the wonderful fragrances and a comfortable lounge to relax in until you are led into the main spa.
This quirky place has been very cleverly designed and doesn't take itself too seriously. It was such a fun place to go and relax in. We loved the metal hot tub outside and running from there to the shepherds hut for a sauna. It was such a novelty to sit in this little hut as well as the steam room, both with windows to look out from. One of my favorite features was the little private bathroom we were given to shower in and the loo seats are inspired. The staff were attentive but allowed you to relax. The fluffiest thing in this spa are the towels. The 2 course lunch next door in the half day package is a superb idea and we were seated and served in no time at all, good job as all the relaxation can make hungry work.

A bit pricey but you really only get what u pay for. Really good experience, spa facilities 2nd to none, the surroundings are excellent. i would definately recommend this to friends and family and return myself, possibly staying at the adjoining Morritt hotel.

I have just returned from an overnight spa package and feel fantastic, the total experience was fabulous, I will reccomend this venue to all my friends without hesitation, the decor is great, the staff without are exception first class , the garage theme is very cleverly done and makes it more appealing to men , my husband (aged 69) had his first " beauty treatment" and realy enjoyed it he felt more comfortable knowing they had a male theerapist.

Our day at the Garage Spa was definately one to remember and we cant wait to get back again for more treatments. We spent the whole day there and enjoyed the spa facilities which had us very relaxed by lunch time when we ate in the restaurant which was so nice. Our treatmenets in the afternoon were fantastic and the staff are so friendly and informative at the same time. They really can't do enough for you. We were sad to leave and cant recommend this place enough

On arrival to The Spa, my friend & I opted to have Afternoon Tea (which was absolutely delicious!!) for a chance to relax & catch up before we went on to use the wonderful facilities.
We were seated in the Beautiful Lounge area & instantly felt very welcomed.

The Spa itself was most relaxing & as the Snow fell whilst using the Outdoor Hot tub we couldn't think of a better way to spend our evening!

The Sheperd's Hut Sauna was Unique & looks perfect in the surrounding garden.
I would definitely recommend spending a short while in the Salt room!

Overall This Spa is a definite Must Visit & the Afternoon Tea was the most perfect Treat! :)

On entering the Garage Spa I was totally wowed. It's beautiful. Like nothing I've seen before.
I was desperate to get that fluffy white robe on and RELAX. The facilities were fabulous. I managed to use all of the wet area which included a steam room , hot , medium and cold water tubs , the Mud Rasul ( great fun ) the Salt Room and outside Sauna and Hot tubs. Unfortunately I didnt have time to use the Hamam.
I had a massage by Simon which was wonderful in one of the new treatment rooms and to finish the day I floated away all my stress in the Dry Float. You have to experience this to believe it. Any aches and pains disappear. Heavenly.
The Spa has been designed to a very high standard in a wonderfully quirky way.
I would highly recommend a visit here to recharge and have some quality you time.
It really was a shame to leave.

My self and ten friends had a evening experience at the spa, it was much more than I had expected. So quirky and very different. The attention to detail in keeping the garage theme I loved and the massage I received form Simon was wonderful leaving me feeling amazing. I would recommend this spa if your looking for a different experience, very intimate.

I came to the spa last week and thought the spa was fantastic, the staff were very friendly and helpful and the facilities were outstanding!

I received a massage from Amy- her pressure was perfect and she was professional but friendly throughout the treatment

I also had the mud pit which was extremely fun! The products are fantastic and made my skin feel great for days on end.

Everything in the spa is finished to a high standard and the staff looks as though they are proud to work there

Fabulous spa, excellent facilities. Loved the Shepherd's Hunt Sauna. Relaxing experience and will definitely go again and recommend to friends. Had facial whilst there and I can say the therapist who gave me the facial was excellent (Amy).

I visited The Garage with my husband to escape the chaos of every day life! We couldn't have chosen better - The Country Lane package was just what we needed to relax and rewind whilst spending some much needed time together.

We loved the clever and quirky branding (which I think made a spa break more appealing to my husband)) and the unique treatment menu. We both had the candle comfort massage and wallowed in the mud pit but the best part for us was the amazing outside facilities like the shepherds hut and hot tubs! Never seen a spa like this before but loved every minute and hope to return soon. Its almost secret I don't want to share....

I visited the Spa with my daughter having found out that it had recently opened.
We arrived and entered The Spa to be greeted by very welcoming and friendly staff. We were seated in the lounge area and were immediately made to feel very at home with the help of staff and the very tastefully decorated area!
We were then punctually introduced to our therapists who led us to our separate treatment rooms. I had chosen to have a facial and was very impressed with it. My daughter equally happy with the massage that she chose to have. It seemed everything had been considered from the lighting, to the tranquil music! (i felt nothing but relaxed) So we decided to return to the lovely warm lounge for a little while longer to prolong facing the cold and ice, at this point we ordered a drink each which was promptly brought to us. We sat and reflected on the quality of service we had received and decided to book a full spa day immediately for my birthday in March!

Amazing Spa - Unexpected Find!
Were staying in the Hotel as a January get away & did not even realize the Spa existed?!
It is beautiful inside & the attention to detail is superb!

We had use of the Facilities & also a facial each - which i would highly recommend! The therapist was lovely & my facial (The Oil Change) was very relaxing & well worth it!

I have always been a bit of a spa sceptic, however someone gave me the gift of a massage at The Garage, so I decided to give it a go. All I can say is WOW!
The place is absolutely amazing and so not like your typical marble spa - it's warm and cosy and you instantly feel at home when you walk through the door!
The full body massage I had with Amy was fantastic! The treatment room was warm and welcoming.
I will definitely be going back!

A wonderful gem of a spa, I have been to a few spas and often go for the obvious ones but this time I thought I'd try a brand new one. This place is like no other, theres a cosy country feel about it, with log fires, comfy furniture and natty little touches like the log fired Shepherds Hut which is a sauna! I went on my own but to be honest it would be ideal for couples and friends as its much larger that a lot of other places I have been. My facial was really relaxing and the therapist was superb, very good putting me at ease, then I had a pedicure in the dedicated "paint shop" which has arm-chairs and relaxing squishhy cushions you can easily fall asleep... I would thoroughly recommend this spa to all my friends (and have on facebook!) so do give it a try as I will be going back but this time with my husband - he'll love the indoor and outdoor hot-tubs...
