Floatworks

Floatworks started life in 1993 in a small unit in Clink Street SE1, just 5 minutes walk from our current location. We built two float rooms and installed two of the old "coffin-style" float tanks, which were as appealing as they sound... big, ugly and uninviting. Their design didn't help at all in trying to convince a sceptical public to try a float session. A few brave customers took the plunge, however, and were very quickly telling their friends about their experiences.

Before long we were fully booked every day, and decided to invest in a third tank. We thought that the extra capacity would be sufficient to cater for the demand that we were experiencing, but within a matter of weeks we were back to turning custom away. Around the same time we received notice from our landlord that he would not be renewing our lease as he wanted to sell the building to a property developer.

This spurred us into looking for bigger premises, and in 2000 we were fortunate enough to find the perfect building just around the corner in Thrale Street. We built 6 floatation suites, making us the biggest floatation centre in the world, and installed the next generation of float tank in our quest for the perfect float experience.

Fast forward to 2009 and we have extended our current premises to include a further 3 tanks. Our 9 tanks are constantly busy, with over 1500 customers visiting us each month. In our 16 years of trading we have now sent over 120,000 customers back into the world with a sunnier disposition than when they arrived.

We are constantly looking for new ways in which to improve our service, and have spent the last three years designing and building our own floatation product the i-sopod.

Full details of this all new and innovative product are available at i-sopod

We have acted as agents for various float tank manufacturers over the years, and have become the first port of call for many people wishing to open their own floatation centres throughout the World. We advise on all aspects of floatation therapy and the successful running of a float centre, from design of the premises through to marketing, and are always happy to pass on the expertise which we have gained in our 16 years of operation.

Floatworks is a great sot of tranquility in London. I'd advise bringing a large towel as they charge for this but otherwise just bring yourself and leave your thoughts elsewhere so you can relax in the tank and float yourself into relaxation. Actually, saying that, also bring a scrunchy/sponge as the salty water does is sticky so need to exfoliate when showering afterwards.

This is the perfect float experience. Easy to get to, nice location, nice reception area and friendly staff.
You get given a robe and slippers and off to your private clean float tank rooms with showers. They also have a nice relaxation area for afterwards. Well recommended.

I absolutely enjoy my time in Floatworks! The facility, towels and slippers are clean, the staff are helpful and the ambience is relaxing. The hour in the floatation tank is bliss and you can feel your stress and strains disappear! Definitely recommended!

My visit to Floatworks was very timely - I was moving house and feeling very stressed. The venue was tucked away behind London Bridge and I felt instantly calmer just walking in. The staff were helpful and professional, and showed us how it all worked then left us to it. You get an individual room with your pod and a shower in, and you can have the lid open or not, and the lights on or off.

The floating was an interesting experience. Time didn't seem to matter in there, and although I didn't sleep (some people drop off apparently), I wasn't bored or restless and I felt much more relaxed afterwards. I got a free towel for 'liking' on Facebook and shower gel/shampoo/conditioner were all provided. The hairdryers could have been more powerful.

I would definitely go again, if I can get another deal.

I bought the floatation experience as a gift for my mum. The voucher was a great deal and she loved the whole exprience and found it very relaxing. She would definitely go again. The only down side was that the venue wasn't that easy to find and the staff found it very difficult to give directions over the phone so make sure you allow plenty of time to arrive.

Such a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon. We were shown through to our rooms (they were nice enough to give rooms near each other) and told what everything was. I am usually a little worried about being closed into a pod, but it was so relaxing you quickly forget about that.

I was unfortunate to come out just after 5 women had finished so there was no way I was getting to use the 2 hairdryers which wasn't an issue.

Such a great deal but I would probably not pay £45 for this... maybe as a gift.

I highly recommend trying this, I will go back if they have another Wahanda deal (hint, hint ;))

Floatworks - wow! what an amazing experience..... it's actually so good it's mind blowing - I was so relaxed that I could hardly speak after my first session.

Slept like a log for 2 nights after my session - which is amazing considering I've been an insomnic for years.

The staff were attentive and took time to explain things to me

Great value with a Wahanda mob deal - I've rebooked as I've been informed it gets better each time, just hope there's another mob deal soon!

Another visit to Floatworks, and another relaxing float. Sadly the increased numbers mean that the personal service is long gone. Staff seem overrun when the place is fully booked. Float itself is as great as ever.

Maybe because it's cold outside or maybe because I like my baths to be the temperature of lava I wasn't really feeling this. I don't like sitting in tepid water, it feels like you've just been in the bath too long. I hear the first time is strange and you need to do a few to get used to it, but I have to say I'm not a fan. I love treatments of any kind, but this just wasn't my bag. I found it really hard to relax. Also the venue is pretty difficult to find and shabby looking. I can say I've done it, but I won't got back.

I wonder if you left the door open as if you did you would have felt cold. The water is heated to skin temperature so you shouldn't have felt neither hot nor cold. I thoroughly recommend a second visit, just knowing what to do second time around makes it much more enjoyable.

I have been floating several times and enjoy the experience. The centre is well set up with slippers and towels available and toiletries and hairdryer to use. Turn up and drift away...easy.

We've heard good things about the experience, so were keen to check it out. The flotation center was not difficult to find, staff were suffiently friendly. The treatment started a bit late, due to previous clients, but it did not negate the experience. It was restful indeed and I neither had any problems with being inclosed in a capsule or with having to wear earplugs. So, overall positive experience, but both of us decieded we do prefer massage for relaxation.

Having been for a float once before (and spent too much time having fun bouncing off the walls of the tank), I thought I'd try again to see if I could get a better state of relaxation.

The Floatworks is very conveniently located for me. The reception was efficient and pleasant, though not very personal or particularly warm and welcoming. I enjoyed the float, which was in a float pod - previously my float was in a roomstyle tank, which I preferred slightly more, more space.

I wasn't told where to go afterwards, but found the rooms with lounge chairs and hairdryers - again very practical, not particularly relaxing.

I wasn't offered the discount on future floats mentioned in the voucher.

Overall, a very efficient operation, slightly souless, but would do it again.

I had never had a floatation experience before, so I was quite curious when I saw the deal and bought it for me and a friend of mine as a Christmas present.
We have been there together on a Friday evening, after work.

The staff were really friendly, welcoming and helpful, the girl who took us in the room was very good at explaining how the treatment goes.

The let down, I have to say, were the premises: the tub itself and the radiator in the room were a bit rusty, the hairdryers were quite old and half broken, there was a water dispenser with no water in it, there was no toilet paper in the toilets, the shower gel, shampoo and conditioner were of an unknown brand.

The treatment in itself, though, was quite funny, very relaxing and very good to do after a stressful and hectic week. I do think, though, one hour is a little bit too much, because mid-way I was starting to get bored.

I'd suggest to have the toilets in the treatment room, along with the hairdryers, maybe some body creams, without the fuss to go out the room at the end of the treatment until you have got completely dressed, dry hair, maybe you have put your make up on, etc.

To summarise, I think that £17 were ok to pay for the treatment and considering the facilities, but should have I had paid the full amount (£45) i would have been quite upset because for such a price you expect to have topnotch facilities.

I will be back if I find another deal.

The premises are a little battered internally but the main problem was I could not enjoy the floatation as I'm tall and kept hitting the sides of the pod. When I spoke to the staff afterwards they explained they did have one large tank but didn't think to tell me that. They knew, I didn't. Go figure!

A lovely, secluded venue and friendly relaxed staff. It was a really nice experience and there was very helpful information to hand for a first timer. The place was well kept and clean and well organised to keep everyone peaceful and happy and the place clean.

Thanks - just what I needed!

It was my first floatation experience and the staff were very friendly when i rang up to book, more than helpful when I got there and very clear to explain what was required and how it all worked, a very pleasant experience!

This session worked extremely well for me. It's taken a few goes to get into relaxing - but I'd always felt that floatation would suit me. I walked out feeling the benefits so much more this time - and despite a bit of a struggle each time before, I sleep better for the two following nights. I've had insomnia for years and now I've found something that really helps.

Great for a float- really clean and comfortable, even if you're a bit claustrophobic! Been a few times now and always buy a voucher when it's on MobDeals. Very relaxing too, just don;t go if you've any cuts on your body (they sting) or have a cold (clogs up + wet hair)
