Fantastic afternoon - Joh was a great instructor and I will definitely be booking on to a longer course with the centre. Great deal that pushed me to do something I'd been thinking about for a while!

Love it here, good climbing facilities for a start with the Urban Rock climbing shop, and it has a little cafe with lots of veggie / vegan friendly food, tasty homemade stuff and loadsa tea. Lots of eco-conscious products which is nice to see. Go for it!

Excellent place. A very friendly and enthusiastic community of climbers work there and while I don't naturally feel a part of this particular culture, they make you feel welcome, relaxed and safe.

The walls are well graded and range from the simple to the impossible (at least for me). There are several different areas on 2 levels and due to the unusual nature of the building some of the walls are quite high. It really does look like a castle, though I think it was previously part of a water treatment works.

There's a good hire and climbing gear shop (urban rock) and they play great music throughout - my last visit rotated through Air, Bob Marley, and a Cafe del Mar album before my feet and forearms gave in and I had to leave.

Great atmosphere, and one can have a go, wicked cakes in the cafe. Something fun and definitely different to do for an evening.

I went with two friends and we had a good time. Great way to get fit while having fun!

I walked here from Manor House tube station and it was really easy to find - with Costcutters behind you on your left hand side, walk straight down Green Lanes until you find the imposing castle on the left! The first thing I noticed inside the place was the smell of sweat, but this is to be expected when there are men working out ;) The male-female mix is good, almost even, with all sorts of types of people - I never felt uncomfortable being there, especially as all the staff members I encountered were wonderfully friendly and helpful. I had arrived late for my taster and they were more than happy to find my group and fit me in. The taster course may seem a little pricey at £20 for an hour, but it includes all the equipment you need, save the clothes on your back. I believe they let you rent the harnesses, shoes, etc. during non-lesson sessions. The changing rooms are nothing special, they're pretty similar to what you probably had in high school. What I really liked about the venue was that the staff would just accept my home keys in exchange for a locker key as I didn't have any cash on me, which shows they're accommodating and pretty relaxed there! I also think the prices are very reasonable, especially for membership, and the walls are far better than anything in my area. Our instructor was great, helpful and encouraging, and the climbs and subsequent abseiling were really fun, and I will definitely be doing this again (though some of the routes require some limbering up and stretchy trousers.)

This was a great experience for me; especially as I was a little dubious about going up too high! The staff were fantastic and super helpful. I'd recommend this to anyone who has the urge to climb but hasn't done so before (or since they were 8 years old, like me!).

I had the best time.... the instructor was really patient and really experienced. I wasn't a natural, but it was such fun that I will go again....especially if Wahanda run another offer.

First of all, the venue itself is great! It's not really a castle (a former water pump station) but you couldn't really tell the difference. As soon as you step in, you can feel is a place for climbers and where people enjoy what they do. Everybody was really friendly and our instructor trie to make us have as much fun as possible, even challenging us to try something a little harder.
Everything went fantastically, and as a matter of fact, we'll go back for a full course very soon.
Definitely highly recommended.

A really great sport. This taster lesson / session is a perfect intro; excellent instructor and a nice place. I came away with a "feel good factor" and on a high!

This was an amazing experience. The instructress was patient, relaxed, encouraging and very knowledgable. At no point were we treated as rookies. The centre is buzzing with a great atmosphere. In fact we have both returned since for an intensive course. I would definitely recommend giving it a go, and at £10 well worth every penny!

It was so much fun. It was my first attempt to try rockclimbing and doesn't realised it was so much fun. We had such a laugh, the instructor was very nice. He gave us a lot of encouragement.

It was my first time to try rockclimbing. It was really fun. The trainers are nice and the center tried to accommodate 8 of us. We had a great time. Definitely will be organising event no 2.

This really was a fantastic overview in to Rock Climbing, my husband had never been before and our instructor made us both feel like old-pros. It really was a fantastic evening, even if my legs were feeling it the next day!
Really enjoyable evening and am very much looking forward to going back!

this was a fun way to spend an afternoon, with a little bit of a workout built in, it was easy to find the place and probably would do it again.

Had a brilliant time at my introductory rock climbing class. The instructor was really friendly and knowledgable. I'd never tried rock climbing before, and felt really safe and confident. There's a really nice friendly, inclusive vibe to the venue, and even as a beginner you don't feel out of place. I'm definitely planning on going back and making it a regular thing.

I really enjoyed this climbing taster and it was great value for money! Our instructor Jake made the most of our time and was great, really encouraging (even when I got a bit of vertigo during my first climb - he realy talked me through it !) The centre itself was really good with a lot of great facilities. My only criticism is that other than our instructor, all the other staff we met, on the till or at the shoe hire place, were all really miserable and rude!
I would definitely consider going again!

I Really enjoyed my introduction. I had been worried about being feeling intimidated and appearing foolish and generally rubbish, but our guide was helpfull and supportive and had us touching the ceiling before we were half way through.
