I cannot fault the staff's friendliness and professional manner, however the massage I received was awful and feel like I need another one to recover from it! I feel bad saying this as the girl who did it was lovely. The sauna and swim area was a disappointment too. Grubby and old, there was no ambience what so ever and the closest you got to any sort of refreshments was a school corridor style water fountain. I know this is a Bannatyne but seemed low par even for them.
Plus side of this trip was that I got to finish two of my books, however I'm going to have to book in somewhere else next week - can anyone recommend anywhere?!

Whilst the facial and massage elements were ok (the sole objective of the visit), what really grates is the hidden and unexpected cost of phoning to make the appointment. Bannatyne publicises a centralised number for contact with all its outlets (08444-774777) and you are obliged to use this to make your booking. You can just imagine my "delight" at finding a £10 charge on my phone bill for the privilege of visiting a Bannatyne Spa. Not a long call either - so beware!

I went with my mum for the spa day including two treatments. I paid extra for an upgrade to a one-hour full body massage treatment.

The venue was nice - particlarly the pool area - and the reception staff were friendly. I was disappointed that we had to pay £3 each for towel hire, particularly as one of the robes we were given as part of this was very scruffy and had stains on it.

The treatments were very good, but the therapists started our treatments late and we were not given the full treatment time that we paid for. When I complained about this, the therapists were evasive and dismissive. However, when I escalated my complaint the manager was very understanding and apologetic and offered a solution to make up the difference in time that we paid for but had not received.

Overall the day was OK, but was not worth more than the reduced offer price for the day given the service problems we experienced.

Nice venue, shame the facial wasn't anything special! I enjoyed using the nice pool, hot tub, sauna and steam room. There is also nice relaxation areas by the pool, in the beauty spa and upstairs with comfy sofas and a TV. The changing rooms are large and very clean. You have to pay £3 to hire a robe, slippers and towel.

The facial itself was a dissapointment- the therapist came for me 5 minutes late, and the facial was supposed to last an hour, but she left the room for about 20 minutes of that. She finished the facial about 10 minutes early to 'give me time to dress', so the actual treatment time was only 45 mins, and she wasn't in the room for half of that! The treatment itself was okay and relaxing, but sub standard compared to other facials I've had. My skin didn't feel any better after, and I actually got a spot the day after the facial, and I never get spots! They also used bannatyne products, rather than Elemis or Decleor. I had to ask for the take home product included in my package, and instead of the promised Elemis face mask, I was given a bannatyne product.

I would return to this health club for the facilities, but definatley would not choose to have a facial here again.

Massage was very good and the therapist was very pleasant. The massage was hard pressure and was a little sore at times, but I like it this way because I have tight muscles. Overall, the venue was clean and comfortable.

Bennatynes is a health club consisting of a gym, spa and a pool. I've been a member for six months now and I'm deeply disappointed. The only good thing about that place is its location and that's why I chose it. I expected it to be a high standard place as the price isn't the cheapest: almost 50 pounds for a monthly membership. Unfortunately it turned out to be a club where the staff are grumpy and in some cases won't even answer to your 'hi'. They are supposed to assist you and help you achieve your goals by setting appropriate exercise programme and they always seemed to want to just get it done and get rid of you. Facilities are not too bad although it takes them ages to fix broken equipment. Well I wouldn't recommend it to anyone as you'll be overcharged and made feel unwelcome.

Great venue right in centre of town, Staff were amazing, was calm and relaxing amotshphere had abit of bother with the booking but the staff sorted it right out and the day went off just fine. Facalities are great all in all a great day. very relaxing as planned. The only one very small and silly thing about the flip flops they provide DO NOT GET THEM WET!! as they smell horrendous. :)

Will be booking again!

Had a great, relaxing day 8/10. The facilities were great and to use the gym to start with then unwind afterwards between the pool and sauna and jacuzza was brilliant. Also the massage was wonderful. Could not fault anything about the Bannantyne Spa Day. Would highly recommend this to my friends.

The experience was overall very good, and there was a very professional atmosphere. The fact that we could not get our spa treatments at the same time was a bit disappionting however a relaxation area was provided. Everything seemed to have been carefully thought out and catered for

I did not like the nylon dressing gowns at all. Otherwise the place seemed clean. A lack of natural daylight makes some parts of the spa claustrophobic. The heated loungers were absolutely fabulous though.
