Do not use this place.
The photographers were very good and the photo's were also good, however there was no mention of price. We had been bought a 'free' photoshoot and when we came to see the photo's it was the same hard sell you get with a time share. They bring you into a room dim the lights and project the photo's onto the wall while playing music - then ask for £800 for a CD. Yes £800 for a CD containing 50 photo's. There's no come back or go away and think about it, you have to pay there and then or we destroy them today!!!
Don't even accept a 'free' photo shoot from these cowboys.

Positives
Lovely photos of my child
Great photographer- very good with my little one and nice manner
Place clean

Negatives
PUSHY salesman -didn't even tell me other options initially and started off sales pitch with 'Nearly everyone buys the full package'.....
Waaaaay too expensive
Haggled him down to £500 in the end but still WAY too expensive.

WISH I had read reviews beforehand, I left feeling conned and was definitely PUSHED into spending double what I had intended.
Honestly? Disappointed with myself for being pushed into such a big spend
I would NOT recommend this to anyone else unless they change their tactics!

We paid £10 for a pet photoshoot at a dog show. We were told this would get us a photoshoot and one 10x8 photo, but advised we would need to make a £20 deposit when we booked, but this would be refunded automatically once we turned up. The person who booked us in also confirmed this.

On the day of our shoot, all went smoothly, the photographer was very good with our cats and patient, and took some nice shots.

When we went back to view the photo's, we met the infamous 'Bob'. He set a slideshow going with all the photos, and asked us to tick our preferences on a sheet. We had already decided we would get one individual photo of each cat, and one of the two together.

We came up with about 10 photos, then went back through and narrowed it down to 8. Bob came back in, and started pushing for us to buy all the photos on a disc, for £400, or a large multi-photo print or canvas. We said no, as we already knew we only wanted 3 photos. Once he realised we were not going to make a huge purchase, Bob offered to throw in 'all 8 photos for £150' (£150 was the price for a pack of 5 on the list). We feel this was an attempt to rush us out, as we were not going to make a big purchase, but we caved in to Bob's pushy manner, and agreed to pay £150 for 8 photos, and signed a page stating this.

No reference was made to our 'free' photo that we would have got for the original £10, or the £20 booking deposit, which should have already been refunded on the day of our shoot. Since the £150 covered all 8 photos, we should have got this £30 back.

When my husband came to collect the photos, he mentioned the £20 refund had not arrived, nor the initial £10. The staff member said the £20 should have been automatically refunded, but he would put it through later. He said he would have to ask his manager about the £10, and would confirm by phone. He then picked up a scrap of paper with our card details on off the desk, to check they were ours! These could have been picked up by anyone walking into the studio!

Two days later, I got a voicemail from Bob, saying we had paid £150 for 5 photos (as the pack on the list), Photo 6 was paid for by the original £10, and he had thrown in two other photos for £20, as our refundable deposit. This was totally untrue, Bob had not said this to us at all, and the £20 should have been refunded before the sales meeting, as promised three times!

We were very annoyed by this outright lie and underhand behaviour to squeeze an extra £30 out of us, and called to speak with Bob. He was busy but we were promised a call back in 30 mins. 45 mins later, we called again, and Bob was available. We explained we were disappointed by the lie left by voicemail, and the failure to return our refundable deposit. If we had known they intended to charge £180, we could easily have dropped 3 photos, to pay just £150, but as we were rushed and pressured, this was not explained.

We asked for a full refund in exchange for the photos, as the memories had been so tainted by the unpleasant dealings. Bob eventually agreed to this, and I confirmed that we would return the photos that weekend, in exchange for a full refund. Bob agreed.

When my husband returned the photos however, Bob said he would only refund the £20. My husband pointed out this was yet another change of events from Bob. The studio manager was then called, who was very aggressive and rude towards my husband, accusing us of having copied the photos and 'trying to get something for nothing'. My husband was unable to stay, as we had an appointment to keep, so he left, saying we would not leave the matter,
and would get our refund as promised. The manager then threw open the office window and shouted abuse at my husband across the car park. My husband is a rugby player, but he felt intimidated by this behaviour, and was very relieved I had not experienced this.

We emailed the studio to complain about the overall experience, the lack of honesty, the pushy sales tactics, the lies and backtracking and the aggressive and threatening behaviour. We again asked for what Bob had promised, a full refund, otherwise we would share our experience in online review forums.

We then received aggressive emails from the manger (Trevor) threatening us with legal action if we posted any reviews! Eventually they provided the piece of paper we signed to order the photos - but as I then pointed out this paper did state £150 for all 8 photos, no mention of the other £30, and asked for the refund. We had no response for a few months, then another threat of legal action if we posted reviews.

We have written this off as a bad experience, but would warn anyone else to steer clear of this studio, unless you plan to spend over £400 for the photos!

I can provide the full email trail if required - pm me for details.

Interestingly, the positive reviews on review sites are written with the same spelling and grammar errors that I received in the emails from Trevor......what a coincidence!

I booked a shoot at the Essex show for £10 which we had to pay on the spot, a lady then phoned me in the week to book the shoot the weekend after. Myself, daughter and niece turned up for the shoot which we had to wait for around 20 minutes. We then went into the shoot where the man continued to call my daughter the wrong name!!! The shoot was ok, nothing special, nothing I had not seen before. The shots were of my daughter and niece. We then booked to go back the week after to view them. The man showed me the size canvas that I would receive I was impressed for the price I paid. He gave me a price list. The prices were expensive but to be fair I knew I was not going to buy any others.
My niece made a special trip to come to mine so we could view the photos, we was sat in a room with "bob" to view the photos. He told us about the cd we could buy with all photos on so I asked for price and he told me we would talk price later. He gave us all the chat which I knew he would...typical cheesy salesman! We were left to view the photos with a list to tick like, dislike or love. All three of us viewed the 83 photos which were ok, nothing special. He came into the room sat beside me and asked what I thought, I told him they were nice. He then continued to tell me that the cd was the best value as you could get the photos printed at asda for £15! I asked the price in which he replied £795 for the cd!! I told him this was too expensive and that my husband had said no to any photos. I won't bore you with all the other sales tricks he tried on me. He huffed, puffed and tutted, looked at his watch asked me what I texted my husband and asked if I was going to buy anything! I asked if I could review the photos that I like for my free one which he told me was just a photo and not a canvas. I must of asked 6 times but he would not let me review!
After what felt like a hour of him being on my case I finally had enough I picked up my bag and told him what I thought of him and his crap company! He didn't understand what he had done! REALLY!!!
I had never felt so intimidated in my life to be sat in a room with a man and him to be on my case so much was scary and the fact I had two kids with me was out of order.
I made him refund the £20. I got outside and phoned my husband who was not impressed then I saw that Bob drives round in a range rover no wonder as he is selling a 20p cd for £795, talk about a profit.
PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE he is a con artist.

PLEASE DO NOT VISIT!!
I purchased a voucher for the Boudoir Experience on Groupon at a reasonable price.
Company showed as 'Dream Boudoir' on Groupon but the ACTUAL company is Splash Studios.
(I had googled reviews for dream boudoir and all were great - had I been able to google Splash studios and seen all the reviews on here I would not have booked.)
I also had to ring up and pay a £20 REFUNDABLE deposit for my day, which was fine, card details taken over the phone - payment wasn't taken from my account for about 3 weeks.
My package included a 3 hour photoshoot with hair and make-up, 2 prints (1 in frame).
On the photoshoot day I had a lovely time, had my hair and make-up done - day was great, I left feeling positive and booked in a day to go and view my photos.
Day arrived to view my photos, I went in for my booked appointment and had to wait over half an hour as the people in front were still waiting - no biggie. The place for viewing the photos was in a room downstairs - separate from the photo studio.
I heard a group of people discussing loudly how they were not happy with the service and one lady said she had seen that all her card details were written down on a piece of paper!
I went in to view my photos and was seen by a man - I don't know his name but by previous descriptions I'm guessing its Bob. (I was looking at the photos alone but had my boyfriend waiting outside - the photos were going to be a wedding present.)
Bob was nice initially complimenting the photos etc - he gave me a piece of paper to note down the pics I liked and left the room for me to view the slideshow.
He came back and the slideshow was still on going - he sat and waited with me, which I found awkward as they were personal pictures and I was told would be dealing with an all woman crew.
Once the slideshow had stopped he asked if I would like to buy the disk of all the photos (around 140 - only about 10 I actually liked.), when I asked the price he said £500!! I said no I'm sorry I can't afford that, he said I could pay interest free over 6 months, which I said I could still not afford. He also told me I was only entitled to 1 photo on Groupon - even though on my terms and conditions it says 2.
'Bob' was not happy with this and starting saying about how they had to pay photographers and make up artists etc - not my fault you made this offer on Groupon and don't cover your overheads! He persisted with this bullying tactic and made me feel quite awkward, I said I wanted to bring my boyfriend in to discuss, to which he said 'I thought it was a surprise, I know he would tell you to purchase them!' - No he wouldn't, not for that price. I told Bob that I would also not be making a decision straight away anyway as would need to think about things not put on the spot - he told me this was not possible that the photos would be deleted the next day. - Umm ok! So I said this was fine to delete them.
So my boyfriend came in and 'Bob' went off into the other room. - We discussed it and I told my boyfriend how uncomfortable he had made me feel, it made me feel sick. We looked at my Personal Details which were sitting on the desk, as I heard the previous lady say about bank details I had a look and sure enough all my bank details were written down! - Not only that I could see he had already made a disk of photos!
I was upset and annoyed as was my boyfriend. - We waited and waited but Bob didn't come back, so we went up to the reception area, no one was there.
We wrote down the picture selections we wanted on the piece of paper, left it on the desk and left. I was shaken up.
I followed up to the company with an email requesting when my two photos would be ready for pick up and when I was get my deposit back. - I had no response so resent the email yesterday. I also text them on the number they had been contacting me with - no response.
I have raised a complaint with Groupon as they have not met the terms and conditions of the Voucher, they have advised for me to wait a bit longer for contact - although its already been a month!
We will see - BUT BE WARNED! I told my partner I was lucky I'm a strong woman but even I felt shaky, please please please do not go alone and be bullied into purchasing this package!!!

Like others I was made to feel bad because I didn't want the pictures. My baby just wasn't playing ball. (the pictures weren't fantastic either)

We was also put in the dark room to look at the pictures by 'bob' Quite a creepy man. He wasn't aggressive but was very pushy and I could tell by his tone that he was annoyed that I didn't want more pictures. It really is a customers prerogative if they are not satisfied with the pictures. I also felt quite uneasy when I was standing at the reception. There was a young girl there asking for her refundable deposit so I guess that she had just chose the one picture. The young girl didn't look happy You could sense the atmosphere in the air!

When I had said to him that I only wanted the one picture. I didnt really want any of them but I was kind enough (or daft enough) to purchase the one because

Me and my friends booked a Pin Up photo shoot through Groupon - which included makeup, photoshoot and free photo print of choice.
The photo shoot and stylist day was good fun, and couldn't fault it. We were then booked in to view the photos a week later. I had to cancel this due other commitments so went with my husband on a different day instead. Upon arriving, we were met by a man who didn't introduce himself and sat us down in the viewing room. He let us look through them all and tick down all the ones we liked. The photos weren't that great; the saturation of them all was far too high, and it really showed how much make up they slapped on, it didn't look like me at all and totally unflattering! There was only a couple out of about 80 that i actually liked. When he came back, the sales pitch began. Fully expecting this to happen, I was polite and listened and explained that I had only intended to go away with the free print, and that there wasn't many I liked anyway. He then informed me that because I had not attended the original appointment I was no longer entitled to my free print. I was horrified and argued with him that this was unreasonable, but he said I should have read the T's & C's. I pointed out that I wasn't the booker, my friend was, and that upon their phone call to me to rearrange they should have informed me this was the case. A total waste of time! So we went to leave when he reluctantly allowed me my free picture. This came with a price however as his sales pitch was even more relentless; tried to get me to spend nearly a thousand pounds on pictures, but I kept reiterating, I had no intention of spending any money that day. Clearly annoyed with me, he didn't allow me any time at all to choose my photo, and I had to pick in minutes, wouldn't let me go through them again. He didn't stop with the sales however, he continued to try and bargain other 'deals' of £195 for photos, and started to say he needed to 'pay the photographer and stylist for their work'. (not my problem if your voucher doesn't cover overheads!) I picked my photo in speed and just fled the place, I couldn't wait to get out. His attitude was aggressive, inconsiderate and damn right rude. My husband was highly concerned that if I hadn't been the type to make my point and stick with it, how easily he could bully people into making purchases they don't want; I dread to think of some poor woman on her own in a dark room being harassed by an aggressive sales man! Not to mention with your pictures all up on the screen in the process. Such a shame, as the initial day was fun, but do not expect to get beautiful photos, they were all un-elegant, terrible airbrushing and just totally uninspiring. The most horrific 'sales' experience of my life.

Me and my friend booked a Boudoir session here on Groupon.
We turned up and had an excellent day, arriving, getting our make up and hair done followed by having our photos tsken by the photographer, she was lovely and was very patiend when we couldn't remember the poses she had given to us 30 seconds before we tried them ourselves! Very enjoyable and this part was so worth the (small) amount of money we had paid. Once we had finished we got dressed, and went into the waiting room where we were given a (confusing) price list and a date the following week to come back and view our photos. What is good is that they open late some nights during the week meaning that you can go after work if needs be.

This is where it starts to go down hill.

We arrived together to view our photos and were greeted by a man (he never introduced himself!) who told us to wait while he set up the room to view the photos. We reminded him of our names 3 times.
We then go into the room and get a half hour spiel of why we want the disc, apparently "there's no two ways of thinking about it", of course we both have just shy of £600 to splash out. All would have been well and good until they turned on the slide show. Me and my friend were in tears over some of the photos that were appearing on the screen. We had orange faces and pure white bodies, weird cut outs (photoshop fails!) and it was all a bit odd. My photos came onto the screen first, near the end of looking at our own "perusal" of my photos, the guy came in and asked what we both did, my friend told him she works in an office to which he responded "what, with a body like that?!" They were not even photos of her!!!! Both inappropriate and also obviously hadn't taken a blind bit of notice in either of us.

Once both of our 105 each (coincidently, although rather just 30 in different effects and close ups) photos had finished - the joyful (not so) man came back in and then once again was pushing for us to get the disc. If I had £600to splash I so would have purchased; purely for the hilarity factor.

My friend chose 1 photo, he was pushing and pushing saying surely out of all of these photos there's more than 1 that you want?! She stood her ground and I then progressed to choose mine, again, a lot of huffing and pushing for me to get more, do I not like this one do I not like that one?! In the end I said my face is a complete different colour to my body and the response I got was..Hmm...it's shadows (?) I don't think so. After being practically bullied into trying to make us think we NEEDED a disc, we left.

I phoned Splash Studios the following morning (Tuesday) to explain I wasn't happy and would like to have another look at my photos to make sure I have chosen the right ones, and was told I would get a call back.
Thursday morning I get a text to say our photos our in (kudos on the speediness of the process by the way!) and later in the day received a phone call from Jane? Who I presume is the manager who practically couldn't have given 2 stuffs about the treatment we had received and even had the cheek to ask if either of us wanted a disc or some more photos and I laughed as I thought she was joking. The conversation basically ended in that if I want to purchase more photos I can but apart from that there's nothing that can be done.
Her attitude stank.

Me and my friend really enjoyed our day here and unfortunatly it has been tainted with the shocking lack of customer care this company seem to offer - bullying tactics?! I think no.

Would never ever recommend this place to anyone. Deeply unprofessional and v. disappointed.

I visited Splash Studios with my family and I can say I enjoyed the whole experience from beginning to end. The staff were friendly and helpful, the photographer was fantastic and so patient with my kids, we had changes of clothes different props coloured backgrounds everything. We then returned to the studio to view our photos a few days later as they are open until 10pm in the evening in the week this was fab, the photos were fantastic, we decided to purchase the disc which was £795 we were given a pack of photos with this also We went for the option of spreading the cost monthly which was interest free, now we have fantastic photos that we have now shared with our family, how people can say this is a con I do not know you get what you pay for n that's quality and a professional service. I would recommend splash to everyone

Lauren, you must be very lucky then. I gave them my credit card details with the understanding that they'd take X amount. They then took X+ quite a bit more, without asking/warning or telling me what they were doing. It then took me days of chasing to get this only partially refunded. It is against the law for companies to store the CSV/last 3 digits on the back of your card. Please view the information about this on the Information Commissioner's website before commenting. These people are devious and the sheer number of other negative reviews about them across the web seems to back me up.

I feel absolutely cheated by this company. We have an 15 month odl baby and decided we wanted to have some pictureso fhim done so we purchased a voucher from Lakeside for £20. We were shown lots of pcitures but funnily enough...no price list!

We turned up for the day and he had his photo's taken. I do quesiton whether the photographer has worked with Children before as he wasn't very engaging with our son.

After the pics were taken we were senton our way and told to call back...again without seeing prices!

when we went back for th evbiewing we were given a lot of sales talk, shown our pictures, which i agree do look great, but again were not told prices until AFTER we were shown the pcitures.

To me this is emotional blackmail, they show you pictures and make you then feel bad that you cant take them home with you...unless of coure...you pay an extortionate £750 for the cd and copyright.

It was only right at the end that the salesman actually told us or showed us a price list and i feel like it is extortion in it's purest form.

I will not be using Spalshstudio's again and will be wiritng to them to complain, especially after reading other peoples reviews that if they said no to buying the CD they were offered it at a reduced amount!

If anyone has similar experiences, please message me as i feel we may get a better response by showing a united fornt. simonwestley@hotmail.com

Thanks

I too experienced the same like other people who have written the bad reviews. I too got fooled by the woman at Lakeside and landed up paying 500 pounds for the CD. They should display the price list at the Lakeside itself, but only after the photoshoot they give the pricelist. The sales person was very rude and we felt cornered in that dark room to buy that CD or all the images deleted by that same evening 6pm!The photos have come out very well, they have done a good job with editing the photos but they have to learn to run such a good business in a more honest way! they should let the customers decide what they want and do the photoshoot after that. Still I feel very bad spending 300 pounds more than what I had decided to spend on a family foto and feel hurt by the way the sales man behaved. We saw another family sitting ready for the phtoshoot ..... felt very sorry for them!

DO NOT GO TO SPLASH STUDIOS UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE RIPPED OFF AND BULLIED !!!. i agree totally with the above review. i booked a photo shoot for my daughter at a cost of £15.00 with a free photo. when booking i was told i had to pay another £20.00 deposit which would then go towards cost of more photos. when we arrive the photographer booked was rubbish and had no interaction with my daughter at all . after 10 minutes my daughter had had enough and said she wanted to go home! the photographer realising he had not got many shots said he would go and get a female photographer to take over??? she was much better but my 2 year old just didnt want to pose any longer so after a short while we just called it a day. when we went back to view the photos they had managed to take we were escorted to a room by their salesman who i can only discribe as a bully. he pounced straight away on gettting bespoke framed pictures , canvases and the disc of all the photos. he never mentioned any of the individial prices and was hell bent and determined that he would not be letting us leave without us spending a minimum of £400 pounds (this was before we had even seen the pictures). on viewing the pictures it was evident that the shoot as we knew had not gone well. my daughter looked thoroughly fed up and miserable and were only a handful of the 48 photos on display that i would have even considered buying.when the bully came back into the room full of all his gabber again i told him that i only wanted a few and asked if i could have them on disc to which he replied yes for £400.00 !!!!! i am no push over and said i wasnt paying that straight away but he became quite intimidating towards me. i said i only want 8 how can he justify that. he said you have all the photos . i said i dont want them all just 8. he then offered me 5 prints for free if i paid 250 for the disc! i said i wasnt preparded to pay that for pictures i didnt like to which he got the hump! very improffesional. i did place an order and spent 100.00 but i still feel very ripped off by this. i will never ever go to these extortionists again urge anyone considering a shoot with them to do the same.

Thats amazing as there have been no male photographers at splash that take pictures of children since july, and you leave with a price list so you know the prices, you only pay £10 for a standard family shoot not £15 and you are not asked for more. You are not bullied and not forced to stay. You are not left alone and as the salesman owns half of the company he would never have behaved like that. May I point out I don't work there but have been at least 10 times with my children. I would also suggest if you have an issue take it up with the staff not vent over the internet because you want cheap pictures. God I cannot stand people who moan. If you hated the pictures you should not have bought a thing.
