A very enjoyable day with my Mum. Would particularly recommend the massage and facial, bliss! The special offers are great value for money.

Loved my spa day at the Dunkenhalgh, the staff are really friendly and helpful. The facilities are lovely and clean and there was lots to do - I could have spent much longer there. I had a back, neck and shoulder massage and an Indian head massage, I'm 6 months pregnant and the therapist adapted the treatments to meet my needs perfectly.
My only feedback to the spa would be to have a water dispenser around the thermal suite/pool area. The water fountain in the thermal suite is quite high and I found it difficult to use.
Will definitely return.

The hotel is nice and the facilities including the spa and restaurant are great. The hotel is quite spaced out though and we were quite far from the facilities. The executive room was really nice and spacious and had a huge bed which was good as we were friends sharing. Would stay here again

We had a fab day - total relaxation and indulgence. Lovely lunch included and we accommodating for our needs. Drinks a little expensive so take some money as these are not included.

Lovely day of pampering - staff all lovely and helpful. Had most of facilities to ourselves as we were there on a weekday and it was quiet that day.

Staff were friendly and confirmed our booking on arrival. Pool and sauna were fine, afternoon tea was disappointing all cake no sandwich. I had a facial which although was good the therapist never stopped talking about the products and price. My friend and I had bookd a rapid manicure as an extra which was confirmed on arrival but we failed to get it as there was no one available. They gave us each a free day pass as an apology.

If you are looking for a relaxing break then this isn't for you. The hotel seem to be unsure of who they are catering for, the pool area is more akin to Centre Parcs than any spa that I have ever been to with children screaming and splashing about in the pool and populating the few loungers that are provided. The small bubble pool is only switched on for a few minutes at a time by way of a timer, the thermal suite was small and cramped and the showers didn't work. We were not given the gowns and slippers as promised, there was confusion over the treatments that had been booked and we didn't receive a free gift. Our paperwork stated clearly that the check in and check out times were 14.00 and 12.00, they are not they are 15.00 and 11.00 respectively. To top it all, we slept on the hardest bed I have ever known in my life, making sleep very difficult to come by, so much for a relaxing we went home more stressed and tired than when we arrived. No thanks, we won't be returning!

Cannot fault our stay at this hotel, we had a spa treatment and overnight stay, the food was lovely, accommodation very clean and everything we needed. Would also like to thank the staff who were very friendly and welcoming. We will be back next year. Thank you.

Generally really good.
A little extra communication needed at times - e.g. we only found out by accident that our restaurant allowance was transferrable to ordering in the bar; also the staff in the spa, while friendly, gave conflicting answers about what treatments our package could include.
The hotel doesn't really have any public lounge-type spaces. The only places to sit (apart from our room) were the bar and the bar/social area at the spa, which was a shame.

I should start of by saying the venue and facilities were nice, the staff on the whole were friendly, treatments very relaxing and the food was great. There were just a few things that really let it down. First off was value for money.

We paid £112 per person so £224 in total. For this we received A double room (inc. breakfast) which (I checked online) was the best rate for the same night was £68, £70 worth of Spa treatments, a 3 course fixed priced meal £20 (per person) and a “Spa Gift”. The Spa gift was essentially a handful of freebie samples (disappointing). So essentially we paid around £25 each for access to the pool and steam rooms.

On top of this, food and drinks we’re extremely expensive. The best part of £10 for two beers; and a light lunch, (tea, baked potato and a cheese toastie) came to £12?! I don’t mind paying a little extra when it’s worth it, but it wasn’t anything extraordinary, certainly no different to the facilities at my local gym.

So while we had a perfectly pleasant day, I felt pretty short changed.

Evening meal was delicious but when we came down for breakfast at 9.30am it was chaotic, the hot and cold buffet didn’t get replenished for the half hour we came down, so there wasn’t much choice (breakfast was 8.00-10.30am). We stayed in room 56, it was a big room and generally clean (few stains on the shower curtain) but the celling was paper thin, so we were awoken every time the guests above moved (which they started to do from 5am). Wanted to make a complaint, but as we were stood waiting for check out for nearly 20 minutes, by the time I’d got to the end of the line and had a night of disturbed sleep, I’d lost the will to live!

Would I recommend? Only if you don’t mind paying over the odds for distinctly average quality.
