Very relaxing day
It is very difficult to give an exact star rating as they got some things so right and others so wrong! The evening package is advertised from 5-10pm however after booking and paying online we were told you could only book the treatment at 5. When we arrived the treatment section was all shut so usually there is a room you can relax in with lovely lighting and drinks but this was freezing and all the main lights were switched on identifying what bad repair the room was actually in. Usually with the candles and the fish tank the room looks lovely but because it was shutting and all the main lights where on you could see holes in the ceiling/rips on the chairs. It wasnt a very nice place to relax. My friend went in for a treatment first and was back out at 20 past 5 despite being a 25 minute treatment and obviously she had gone in to get undressed at the start. However after this we went to use th facilities which I must say are fantastic. The variety of steam rooms etc available is fantastic and it is a lovely place to relax. The gentleman working in reception upstairs was also very welcoming and we had a lovely cup of tea upstairs.
Lovely spa weekend with dinner, bed and breakfast, big clean spacious room with comfy bed. Spa area offered good variety of hot rooms (sauna, steam room) and some of the local spa members said the spa area has much improved since the beginning of the year due to new ownership. Loved the evening meal and Sophie who served us was really friendly. If you go in rooms 80-90 be aware this is over the function room, we had music till 1am but with a 12 noon checkout we just joined in the party by dancing round the room! But if quiet is on your agenda avoid these rooms. A really lovely place and felt truly spoilt.
Lovely break. Great facilities for price.
The overall experience was good, but there were one or two niggles that cold have been better. I have been before & you were always able to get food in the reception area. This has now changed & you can only get sandwiches from the hotel which were extremely overpriced. I believe there has been a change of management & this may be their decision. We filled in our forms but they were just handed in at reception, no-one sat with us to discuss anything. Then the swimming pool was taken up for an hour with water aerobics. I was not told of this when I booked. 2 of our group were booked in for massages at 12.45 pm. They were not collected until just after 1 pm & were back in the changing room by 1.30 pm. I had paid for 40 minute treatments, so basically was robbed of 2 lots of 10 minutes. If they do that to every client, they are making a lot of money for doing nothing. I must say that there was a boy serving drinks in the reception area & he couldn't have been more helpful & was extremely polite.
