Just come back from the Sunday night special with myself and daughter and we really enjoyed our stay. We checked in about 1pm and used the Spa facilities in the afternoon which was very relaxing then we got ready for the dinner that was included in the price, they did say the restaurant was opened on Sunday but we could eat it in the bar area which was still set out very nice and the 3 course meal was excellent and the staff could not do enough for us very helpful.
As we had booked a shopping day we went down for breakfast early and this was included in the price so wasn't expecting to much but when we came down there was lots to choose from, a continental, fresh fruit, full English or a choice off the menu I ordered eggs benedict and my daughter ordered smoked haddock and was lovely, we ate so much we decided to go for a swim and sauna and then head to the gym, we took advantage of late checkout as it was so relaxing we didn't want to leave. Only criticism would be the link beds you can have them as a double or 2 singles but when they are split the gap in the middle is not very big and no where to move the other bed, as I was staying with my daughter she did not mind being close and listening to my breathing but if I had been with friends it would have been to close for comfort when I asked at reception they said all beds are zip and link so they don't have specific twins. We did not get chance for any treatments but the rooms looked very relaxing. Great deal would recommend to family and friends.

It was my sisters 40th! We both had a relaxing and enjoyable experience and would definitely return. All the staff we met had a lovely manner and were welcoming.

We thought a tour of the spa facilities would have helped us from wondering around trying to locate or randomly discovering a new area, and saved the irritation we felt at the start of the spa break

I booked the “one night spa reviver” break for a surprise for my husband’s 40th birthday. The break included an overnight stay with breakfast, three course meal and 25 minute treatment each. I upgraded the package to include a stay in one of the hotel’s Privilege Rooms and a 90 minute treatment for my husband.

Spa Treatments
We both found the spa itself and the spa treatments wonderful – no complaints at all.
The swimming pool and poolside again were wonderful. The spa facilities were disappointing in that the ice igloo and the aroma room were out of order. This left the steam room and sauna and a shower.

Hotel Room
We have stayed at Mercure St Pauls many times before and have always been happy. Unfortunately this time, we had a bad experience. As it was my husband’s 40th, I arranged an upgrade to Privilege Room 534 – seemingly the best room in the hotel. On check-in I was told this room had been given to someone else and we had been allocated the room next door 532. On arrival, we found a pair of used boxer-shorts in the wardrobe and dried up food next to the bed. The sink was cracked and the toilet cistern dripped constantly. I would not describe this room as an upgrade. There was a coffee machine and some bottled water, but that appeared to be it! The one benefit is that there is a direct lift to the spa next to the Privilege rooms, meaning you can simply wear your robe and slippers around the hotel.

Food
Breakfast – spot on – absolutely lovely.
Three course meal included in spa package – you are offered a reduced menu which costs £14.95 each for three courses if bought individually. There is also a full menu available for an additional fee of £10 each. We chose this option as we wanted a steak and there was not offering on the reduced menu.

Service
I had brought a bottle of champagne to have before our evening meal and saw that there was an ice bucket in the room. I rang room service to request two champagne flutes and some ice. I was told that they would charge me £5 to deliver them. I asked if I could get my own ice and was told that there wasn’t an ice machine available, but I could go get some from the bar. Which I did. In my robe and slippers – that caused quite a stir! I find this not good service for a four star hotel.
On Check-out I gave my comments about our stay to the manager. He dealt with the situation very fairly and reduced our “extras” bill accordingly.

Overall
We enjoyed the stay, especially the treatments, but it wasn’t a “special” experience, it was ok. I wouldn’t do it again. It seemed that extra payments were needed to improve it – ie upgrade room charge, upgrade meal charge and extra treatment charge. Without these I think we would have enjoyed it less.
The technicalities of the spa day seemed confused. We were not advised where to go and were sent back and forth – perhaps a “schedule” or “instructions” given out on check in would be a good idea.

Wahanda
I LOVE Wahanda. They offer amazing deals at amazing places and I have used them several times without complaint. I will definitely use them again! Thank you Wahanda!

Spa Naturel at the Mercure hotel in Sheffield was close to perfect; I took my Sister for her 22nd Birthday and she couldn't have had a better day. The staff in the spa were so welcoming and friendly that it put you at ease right away, the atmosphere and each different section of the spa was so relaxing and luxurious, and the treatments were incredible - definitely worth the money. I also got a surprise discount when paying for the treatments because we had also stayed at the hotel, which was very welcome. I'd recommend this to anyone!

Great reception staff, excellent location and delicious dinner. Breakfast waddissappointing as the food didn't seem freshly made. Shower in the bedroom was weak, considering the space of bathroom and quality of everything else.
However, I had an excellent stay and would definitely recommend

DISASTER.
checked in on spa reviver weekend and to sound it out as a wedding venue.first impression was good nice clean lobby efficient staff at front desk. Room was clean and bed was the best I have slept in a hotel. Booked in for evening meal at 8pm this is where it all started to go wrong,the menu you can order from is not the main menu- it's a smaller menu with only a few starters mains and deserts. Ordered a bottle of wine 30 mins later we were still waiting for it to arrive. It eventually turns up and the waiter offers no apology just pours 2 glasses and takes our order for starters mains and desert. Starter arrives and. I have tomato soup it' ok but only luke warn and it takes 20 mins to arrive so 1 hour in we have only just finished starters. The main arrives we both ordered ribeye me rare my partner medium,all . Can say is well done is a understatement and the 6 chips was a bit of a joke considering an £8.50 supplement. Calls waiter over again and he actually apologies and fetches somebody else with him who offers us a drink from the bar and takes our food to be redone. I have eaten 1 of my 6 chips. 5 mins later our food arrives and is cooked better but not as we ordered but by this point we are hungry and decide it's better to let it be and eat. I notice I have only 5 chips. We eat they clear away our plates and then we wait for our desert. At 10.40 I call the waiter across and ask what is happening with our dessert,the restaurant closes at 10.30 he goes into the back only to return and tell us the desert we ordered at 8.30 was not available(sherry trifle). The guy who gave us a drink from the bar comes back and offers us deserts from the main menu and a replacement bottle of wine(the same as we bought earlier). Deserts arrive and they are rubbish to put it blunt. Wine arrives and it's a different (cheaper) bottle to the one we were drinking. We were having an early night ready for the spa treatment in the morning but at 11.30 we were polishing our deserts off and by 12.30 we were just getting ready for bed. Breakfast was a sham and they did not have seats for us so we had a makeshift table,food was bland and tasteless,bacon like cardboard and the mushrooms were boiled to the death. We also felt our breakfast was ruined due to rushing about because of the late night and our treatment in the spa was booked for 10.15. The massage was ok nothing special the saunas ice room and shower experience were also ok nothing special but the swimming pool was freezing to the point my partner could not stay in there her lips were blue. Overall I would recommend that you give this place a miss as it's not the service you will expect.
Update the manager has offered us a free meal for our horrible experience but I think I may decline it was that bad. We definitely will not be booking this place for our wedding.

I've stayed at the mecure several times now, and will continue to come back as I really enjoy the place and feel I get very good value for money, On this occasion I stayed, I felt that the staff where steched due a wedding that was being held at the location, also I felt that they wasnt as responsive as they have been in the past. Especially as theh room I stayed in was extremly cold and they heater wasnt working. I had to wait a while for them to bring my a heater. I know this is very small to mention but as I have said I have always used the Mecure and they have left the standard so high that anything less to me is a drop. So I was slighty disappointed when this happened. I still will continue to use the Mecure as we are all entitled to have a bad day in the office.

Really nice hotel, gorgeous features, amazing massage, perfect room and the staff were spot on! Thank you! I definitely recommend this hotel for a nice weekend away with either your partner or friends!

I loved my stay at st Paul's, it was great value the food was amazing 100% would go again only thing i would suggest is get advice about parking because for valent parking its 26 pound and did not know this before we arrived, excellent service though :)

Me and two friends booked a hotel and spa stay with the Mecure and we thoroughly enjoyed the entire stay. My friend saw a Whanda deal for £85 each inclusive of hotel stay, 3 course dinner, spa treatment and use of the spa. As that was based on 2 sharing she contacted the hotel direct and they matched the deal for 3 of us.

The hotel was ideal location wise - 5 minutes walk from the train station which was perfect as we were all arriving from different parts of the UK. It is really modern looking and runs alongside the winter gardens with a glass wall. Our room was grogeous, really clean and modern and we really enjoyed relaxing the room.

We were really pleased that we could have all of our treatments at the same time due to the number of therapists - the spa itself is below ground and was bigger than we expected. I always take hotel 'spas' with a pinch of salt as they can be misleading but we were pleasantly surprised with the size of the pool and there was a sauna, steam room, ice room and aromatherapy room. The massage was lovely although the room was fairly cold. Behind the treatments reception desk there is a small relaxation room and refreshments room.

Our 3 course dinner was fantastic as well - I was dubious as to how nice our set menu would be but it was really really nice, as was the breakfast. The staff on reception were also very helpful during our stay; we rang down to reception from our room and asked if there was any possibility we could have three champayne flutes and an ice bucket and it arrived almost instantly!

Would really recommend as an overall stay and a great girls weekend all round.

I visited the Mercure spa as a special treat from my boyfriend. As it was expensive I had high expectations, which were sadly let down. On arrival I was greeted at the main desk, and given directions down in a lift to get to the spa. When I reached the spa desk however, there was nobody around. I waited until 20 minutes past my treatment time, getting increasingly annoyed and flustered as time ticked on. The relaxation room is just off reception, but nobody told me I was allowed to go in, and I didn't want to go in and miss somebody come back to reception! So I dithered between waiting or going back upstairs or walking around trying to find somebody, until eventually someone did appear and took me for my treatment with no apology.
The treatment itself was fine, but I was too wound up to enjoy it as much as I should have. After the treatment I wasn't offered use of the relaxation room, which I find essential after a spa treatment to revive myself, rather than just being chucked out on the street. I was instead given a feedback form to fill in, but two staff members stood over me while I filled it in- so I chickened out, and gave them a good score. What can I say, I hate confrontation, and I just wanted to get out of there asap.
Trying to find my way back up to main reception, I got lost and a member of kitchen staff had to let me out of the back door. All in all, left much more stressed than I arrived!
