The overall experience was OK. Not having been to Slaley Hall before, I was expecting a little more from the reviews I had read.
The changing rooms are way too small and looking quite grubby. The swimming pool was looking also tired and in need of a make-over. Also we were told that we had to book into go for afternoon tea - we ended up in the bar area, in our robes mingling with a wedding party - which wasn't ideal.
Just some pre-arrival how to/where to type answers would have been great as we felt we were wondering around a little lost and although the girl who served us at the spa reception was lovely, she could have been a little more accomodating.

I came with a friend and it was a lovely and relaxing experience. It was a present for her birthday. The whole experience was perfect. Great treatment, good chat in a relaxing place and fantastic company! The therapeutic massage was great. The lady who did it made sure that all my needs were met and questions answered. We then relaxed at the bar next the swimming pool. The bar attendant was very friendly and helpful. We then went for a swim and Jacuzzi before eating a simple but nice meal at the bar. The water was warm and pleasant for a swim. We finished the day by going to the bar/lounge in the main part of Slaley Hall. A great way to finish a very pleasant and relaxing day! Thank you.

What an amazing day we had! The staff were so friendly and the facillities were great! Gym swim and sauna followed by massage and we bought facials too!!!!
Only draw back was people arguing over sun loungers and leaving their belingings behind when they went for treatments - really feel this could be inforced and did put a down on the day! Apart from that no complaints!

Lovely spa day, excellent facilities and treatments. Very nice and relaxing. Could do with a couple more loungers but overall excellent.

Not bad. The therapist was lovely and friendly. The bad thing was Her hands were cold to start with. The room wasn't warm enough either.
The therapist listened to my concerns and she did do a good job massaging all the knots. I felt comfortable with her too. Her name was Lindsey, lovely friendly lady.
Juice bar was nice and clean and relaxing - they don't sell juices though which is odd-. The staff were lovely and friendly there too. It was warm by the pool area and it was clean. Me and my friend had lunch there too. Nice food, a bit pricey but nice as a treat. Coffee was good.
Sauna abs stern room were good and clean. We went during the week so it was quiet. Staff not pushy to sell you things.
Roads need updating as they look old but still very clean.
I would recommend it yes.

A really enjoyable experience and well worth the money (tho it was a gift). Staff were friendly and professional, the Spa was clean and inviting. My lovely masseuse knew her job and delivered a great massage ( I ought to know as I was a physiotherapist) with good pressure and technique. I will probably go back for more.

Lovely staff and Wonderful massage but the facilities need updating, its looking tired and dirty in changing areas and the treatment room ceiling was dirty, not the nicest thing to be looking up at.

It was very good value and though our voucher was supposed to be for a weekday, the spa allowed us to use it on a Sunday at no extra charge.

The spa facilities are fine. They do the job and are kept clean, but they are basic.
The day itself was fine, nothing to complain about. However, I have had better spa days at different locations. Even without lunch or a treatment included a welcome refreshment would be nice - this is done at many other spas. We weren't given robes, just towels and slippers.
A deal with lunch included would be better as £20 just for the day with basic spa facilities isn't something i would pay for again

Please note that you should always print out the details of what your package entails! Ours entitled us to refreshments on arrival, the receptionist did not have this written down and told us just to tell them in the spa cafe. The young man there went back to her to confirm! However, what arrived was one pot of hot water and three fairly large cups , each with a tea bag, the pot of water filled only 1 1/2 cups!). He did say to let him know if we needed any more ,which we did immediately.
Relaxation room was good, nice to complete the details form in peace and quiet (last year we stood/sat around reception to do this!).
Treatments were fine, rooms and staff good but note they were only 50 minutes in duration.
Changing room far too small and only one private one.AS we arrived there were lots of children arriving with family (we expected children as it was school holidays) but there were too many bodies in the changing room. One very large imitation croc skin stool to sit on(This didn't seem very hygienic to us) The toilet areas were a disgrace, one door had no lock, the sinks were appalling. There was a check chart hanging in the changing rooms but it did not apply to the toilet and shower area. The showers were a total disgrace. The rust and dirt behind the shower pipes was horrid and totally unhygenic (have they not heard of cleaning materials, i use an old tooth brush in my home to get to corners I cannot reach-and i am going to purchase one of those steam cleaners!)
We had lunch in the hotel bar - a far more relaxing experience than the spa cafe (in fact the plastic surrounding the glass tables really could do with a scrubbing brush to get them clean between the ridges)
The Spa itself was pleasant, we did have a good day. However, this was marred by the lack of cleanliness in the areas i have mentioned. We made the same visit last year and we were disappointed then, for the same reason. We had thought that twelve months on the spa management might have employed a cleaner, or a more efficient and hygienic set of standards put in place.

A lovely place for a spa day as the surroundings are lovely and the steam room is really good. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The café is ok, but needs a better selection of juices (only apple and orange) and the food we ordered was wrong. Just don't go at half term, as we couldn't get a lounger and it was very busy with families and children. We have been back since though, and it was much quieter.

The staff were lovely and the waiting room seemed luxurious like the hotel. However, the rest of the spa (changing room, showers, toilets, sauna) were a bit like a council leisure centre. I thought the showers were a little grubby and needed updating. Not worth the full price and I would prefer to go somewhere else next time.
