sk:n Edinburgh part of sk:n clinics

sk:n is the country's leading skin clinic offering highly medically trained staff and the most regulated treatment approach in a meticulously clinical environment - nationwide. No one offers more specialised skin treatments - over 250, from mole excisions to anti-ageing injectables, tattoo removals to facial resurfacing - or uses more advanced technology to do so.

sk:n's heritage goes back over 20 year, to when it was founded in 1990 in Leeds and Harrogate within their NHS hospitals. sk:n's initial specialism was in laser hair removal and the company invested in the highest grade lasers on the market, operated in partnership with the NHS. Before long however, sk:n doctors were treating NHS patients for broader dermatological needs and an ongoing partnership emerged.

A stand-alone clinic was opened in Birmingham City Hospital in 1993, followed by a private clinic on Harley Street in the same year.

sk:n now have an network of nationwide clinics from Aberdeen to Portsmouth, with opening hours up to 9pm and are proud to be home to more leading consultant dermatologists, doctors, plastic surgeons, nurses or therapists than any other dermatology service provider.

All sk:n's laser technicians have the longest training in the industry and like all treaters in the organisation, operate according to the Medical Standard's Team approved medical protocols. There is a Medical Director in every clinic and all medical consumables used are of the highest grade available.

With extremely high customer loyalty and satisfaction scores, sk:n looks forward to offering even more clients the most effective, yet safe treatments on the market, as The Nation’s Skin Clinic.

Abit disaapointed that is said I would get a full skin consultation, but did not really get this and advice in how I could improve my skin. Environment was very clinicial not relaxing at all! The therapist talked too much at start of treatment about medical history/company policy/health & safety!

below is a copy of a complaint letter I sent to Sk:n on 25.11.2011 - to date they have not responded:

I left the clinic feeling somewhat disappointed – firstly when my skin was being assessed I was told that I had facial thread veins around my nose and chin and was asked if they bothered me. During the treatment I was told three or four times that I would benefit greatly from having treatment for these veins – I was aware that they were there but felt like they were hideous and left the salon feeling less confident than when I first walked in. Secondly I felt there was pressure to push products and services offered by the clinic, was told about the Gylcolic Peel treatments would be a must (3 for the price of 2 and then a 25% discount on that – yet when I got home I checked your website and the 25% is not applicable) and then there was a push on products that were sold by the clinic. I understand is this climate every business needs to make money but there is a difference between making your clients feel comfortable and at ease and to making them feel under pressure to purchase.

Any woman wants to leave an establishment such as Sk:n feeling better about themselves, in my case, I felt very conscious of facial thread veins and like I had been to a car dealership anxious for sales.

I went along to sk:n for a consultation and glycolic peel (my first ever) and I was very happy with the whole experience. The facilities are quite clinical and minimalistic which reassures customers that standards are very high and that everything is scrupulously clean.
The waiting area is comfortable and has plenty of glossy magazines, products and free samples to keep you busy although I didn't have to wait very long at all.
The consultation was thorough but not intrusive and I was given lots of good advice about skincare, appropriate therapies and suitable products without any pressure to buy. I even received a free full-size cleanser to take away.
The glycolic peel itself was excellent and my therapist was lovely and highly professional. My skin felt fantastic afterwards and there is a danger that I may become addicted to this sort of luxury so I'm hoping for more Wahanda/sk:n deals and discounts to help me afford it!

I enjoyed my visit and the treatment was good. the staff were very friendly and helpful. the therapist was really nice, but she could have been a bit more knowledgeable. i asked various questions regarding aftercare and precautions that were not aswered quite to my satisfaction. also, i asked her to be careful not to get any products near my eayes as not to damage my eyelash extensions, which was not quite adhered to and a number of them fell out the next morning. however, overall i did enjoy the treatment and it left my skin very soft and it felt very good, and i am considering booking in for further treatments.

Professional knowledgeable therapist who was able to fully analyse my skin and prescribe products which DO work! Although there was no pressure to purchase products. I will definitely be back again in the future for another treatment.

I had a wonderful glycolic peel at Skn Edinburgh. The spa is clean-looking and 'medical' as you'd expect, but at the same time comfortable. The staff were very welcoming and the therapist brillant. She took lots of time explaining things to me and even took pictures of my skin for their files for future reference. The peel itself was comfortable except for the 'neutralising' stage, for which she gave me plenty of notice. At no time was I rushed and best of all, there was no hard sell whatsoever. I left very happy, with a lovely glowing complexion. I'll be back.

I went along to SK:N in Edinburgh for a glycolic face peel on the Wahanda deal. The clinic was easy to find and the surroundings were clean, modern and very pleasant. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. My therapist was fantastic, she was clearly very knowledgable and gave me some great advice on skin care and also the availability of various treatments, particularly the anti-aging ones which I was interested in. She talked through the condition of my skin and we decided I should have microdermabration instead of the glycolic peel. The procedure was quick and painless and my skin felt amazing afterwards, so soft and smooth.
The goody bag was great too with money off vouchers and free samples. It was a fantastic experience and I will definitely be going back again.
