I went to the Wellness centre with a friend to see Levi Roots cooking demonstration. As I already have one of his cook books and love the recipes I was couldn't believe it when I saw the demo advertised as it is on his home turf and easy to get to. Very chilled out event with the cocktail making, tasting, band and audience paticipation... the only downside was that we had gone expecting there to be food to taste and so were starving as the night progressed and no food appeared. Apparently it had been throughout the event, but noone was publically announcing it to the audience so we only learnt abou its existance after asking the bouncer if we could have readmittance once we had bought food at the Levi Roots van. The van was giving out pasties and other foods and there was pizza and curry in a different room in the venue.

The cooking portion and the music performance of Levi and family was great value for money.

However, serving the food mentioned on the voucher at 11.00pm which wasn't even caribbean themed was poor. Luke warm reggae reggae pizza wasn't what we expected.

The Levi Roots Experience @ Mass was a huge disappointment - the secret Levi Roots recipe boiled down to countless renditions of the "Reggae Reggae Sauce" jingle and Reggae Reggae Sauce all over the place. No healthy Carribean Cooking in sight.

The Levi Roots Experience @ Mass consisted of little more than Mr Roots showing us how to fry a chicken and add his sauce. Also, (supposedly) included in the deal were "free food and drink at the press event including: Reggae Reggae Pasties, Rice and Peas and Chicken Stew, Mixed Vegetables, BBQ stew and Coconut Stew, Reggae Reggae Pizza. Blood Orange and Pomegranate, Orange, Papaya & Lime soft drinks". In reality, this came down to a slice of pizza (plus Reggae Reggae Sauce) in a styrofoam tray. I have not seen anybody carrying any of the drinks mentioned in the description of the deal on the Wahanda website.

As reviewers mentioned before, the organisation of the event was highly unprofessional and Mr Roots was unpleasantly self-centred, boring us to death with what he considered inspirational talk.

Big rip-off.

We went for the Levi Roots experience and only saw him cook 1 dish! It was a huge disappointment. He then went on to play with his band for what felt like hours and was just generally so egotistical we left!

Loved the food and music. Levi is absolutely inspirational and full of passion for his music, food and life. Got a good goody bag and Dominos pizza. It was quite packed and the music/band was good.

A little bit disorganised as they have problems heating the food for the event so we were provided with take away pizzas instead, but overall a fun night and we’ve also been trying out a few of the recipes!

The cooking masterclass was very interesting though visibility throughout the venue was very limited if you were not sitting in the front row and the screens showing the demonstration were very blurry. The Levi Roots Experience staff were very rude and inattentive and the event was poorly organised.
The goody bags were very good as were the pasties been served outside the venue. All-in-all if I had paid full price for my ticket and not received the Wahanda discount I would have asked for my money back.

The Levi Roots Healthy Caribbean Cooking Masterclass plus goody bag - It was really good fun Levi Roots did some Carribian cooking and performed some songs. Had some Reggee Reggee pizza and got a great goody bag full of Reggee Reggee stuff.
