Marco Benito

The salon attracts an extremely varied clientele from Birmingham and further afield. Clients are attracted for many reasons, such as the guaranteed appointment booking system, the friendly and professional atmosphere, the ideal city centre location, the award winning team of technicians, constant innovation and, of course, great looking nails!

A high level of training is imperative for the technicians in the salon as realistic looking nails require the technicians to develop great skills in application, finesse and finishing and an eye for design. These qualities are demonstrated in the salon on a daily basis.

Had my first shellac manicure done here in May this year and then again (back to back) in June. The therapist was a bit heavy handed compared to what I am used to and I ended up with bleeding cuticles. Was overall happy with the shellac polish and how long it lasted. However, when I came to having the nail polish removed I was left to soak both my hands in acetate for just over 30 mins which I have subsequently learned is an absolute no no and certainly not how a good salon should remove the varnish. I removed the second lot myself by soaking a pad in acetate, covering the nail and wrapping in foil for 10 mins - which is how the salon should have done it. Also, the second time I was very disappointed that they had run out of the specific colour I wanted (the same as the therapist was wearing!) and alternative choices were poor. I have also subsequently read that there is a special nail oil that the therapist should have recommended to me to use whilst I was wearing the varnish - she didn't.

Have read quite a few articles about how bad shellac is for the nails and I haven't had one since June although I'm having one in a couple of weeks time at a different salon for a special occasion. It will be interesting to compare the two salons.

Overall I think shellac nails are great but shouldn't be used back to back and you should definately use oil regularly on your nails both when they are polished and when bare. I like Decleor's Aromessence Ongles but I'm sure any good quality oil will suffice.

Final point as regards MB - I find it all a bit cramped especially when there are 3 of you getting your nails all done at once, there is hardly room to breath.

I have been to Msarco's before and i have to say from the treatment to the staff to the coffee the experience is lovely. I will continue visiting Marco's and will continue getting my Shallecs from there. I had a few chips but these were repaired without any hassle.

What can I say but fantastic service and value for money. I received a first class service from Eleanor who did my gel manicure and pedicure. She was friendly, polite and really did a superb job.

I was really pleased with the service I received and the mani/pedi lasted well over two weeks.

Would definitely be going back again.

My treatment was the Shellac manicure and pedicure. I have had this treatment in other salons but i can state that the therapist at this salon is far the best! She take one hour on the manicure and a hour on the pedicure.

All i can say that i would go back, if it was a bit cheaper i would go often but my wallet doesnt go that far!

Marco Benito is well positioned in a quirly building in Birmingham City Centre. It is rather cramped but well decoated and Kay the therapist was lovely. My minx pedicure lasted for weeks and it was nice to have a proper pedicure as well as the minx application. Will definitely be back!

I have had the Shellac pedicure and manicure about 5 times now since a friend suggested getting it done at Marco Benito's. I found the voucher on Wahanda and thought I'd go for it.

On my first visit the technician (Eleni - who is great) was really considerate and explained the process, the aftercare and was patient whilst I debated the important colour choice. She is professional and friendly and because of this I've been back to the same technician every time I have gone back to get my nails done. The atmosphere is friendly, and the other technicians also seem lovely and what I really like is that they all share their views on colours and style when you ask so you get ideas and suggestions, they don't just tell you what they think you want to hear, they are honest and friendly, and I like that.

The pedicure lasts a very long time, after 6 weeks my toes still looked freshly done, my hands last about 3 - 4 weeks max. NB - You can only use the voucher when you are having hands and feet done together, so I tend to just pay seperately for my hands if I want to get them done in between.

I think the loyalty scheme they operate is a great idea and does encourage me to return. I also love the other services they offer. I get my brows done and also I've had eyelash extensions which looked amazing, were applied beautifully and removed as and when I wanted them to be, again with ease, and without any pulling or loss of my natural lashes.

I like the appointment system, and the stance they take, you make a £10 deposit per treatment (so with this voucher it would be £20 deposit, but you get it refunded on the day of your treatment as long as you arrive on time to get the treatments done) but it means as a customer you aren't waiting around because people have turned up late, which when you are in a rush or busy, is welcomed.

Can't say enough good things about the salon, its a real find.

I had a Minx Pedicure at Marco Benito, it was good value at £25 and unlike previous visits I was not made to wait ages for my appointment due to them running late but this is possibly as I went at 10am on a weekday! The choice of Minx Nail designs was fairly good and the therapist was really friendly and there was a good selection of magazines to read as well. The only down side is that you have to move rooms mid way through the treatment as they cannot apply the Minx Nails in the Pedicure Spa room. Overall would recommend though as really pleased with the results.

I found the experience very relaxing and the service I received was of a very high standard. I had the shellac manicure and pedicure and can honestly say that after returning from my 2 week holiday my nails are still looking immaculate. Would definitely recommend this place as the therapist was lovely and took time and care to ensure I was happy with the finished result.

I had nail extensions done at Marco Benito. The therapist that I had was Kay she seemed really nice. Before she started she handed me a paper to read which stated that she was an apprentice nail technician and that the nails would last for a slightly less period than if an experienced nail technician had done them. I was happy for her to continue as I only wanted nail extensions done for my holiday so I didnt have to worry about painting my nails on holiday. They looked alright however they lasted less than a week before all of them broke off, it was really bad the first one came off after two days and the rest followed soon after. It wasnt as if I was doing any sort of strenuous activity or anything to cause them to come off (I mean I was on holiday i literally did nothing all week). Even though Kay was nice I would never go back to get my nails done at Marco Benito by her, It was such a waste of money.

The salon is well situated in Birmingham but is quite cramped in particular the room where I had my Minx Pedicure was ridiculously small so that I had to back myself into the chair. The therapist kept me waiting half an hour and I was asked to move between the upstairs and downstairs waiting areas twice. The therapist was not particularly apologetic or friendly but I have to say that the Minx Pedicure itself was of a good standard but I am glad I didn't pay the full price of £35 as a had a Wahanda voucher bringing it down to £25.

I went to Marco Benito in Birmingham for a Shellac manicure and pedicure. Shellac is a particular type of nail polish which has to be cured under UV light for about 20 seconds on each layer. This makes it super tough and it's supposed to last around 2 weeks without chipping. When you want to take it off, you go back to the salon and they'll soak it off for you, which is included in the price of the manicure.
I'd never been for a mani or pedi before so I wasn't sure what to expect. My manicurist, Dee, was really nice and friendly and put me at ease, while she did a very professional job of shaping my nails, sorting out my cuticles and painting my nails a beautiful shiny red. During the pedicure, I got to sit in this amazing massage chair with a foot bath, which was just lovely and I really want to get one at home!
My manicure and pedicure looked amazing, and really did last for 2 weeks. I'm really impressed with it, especially considering my nail polish usually looks awful after a day, as I don't wear gloves when I wash up and my nails tend to take a lot of abuse. The staff were all very welcoming and offered me drinks while I was waiting, and Dee did a completely amazing job with my nails. I would definitely recommend Marco Benito, and I'm planning to go back and try out a Minx manicure nect time.

I was bought a manicure and pedicure as a gift and was really pleased with my visit. The atmosphere of the salon is very welcoming and friendly and the quality of the rteatments was very good. I was worried I might be treated a little badly as my treatments were a special offer but that wasn't the case at all.

I have been a regular at Marco Benitos for many years and the service is brilliant every time. The staff are always friendly and happy to see you and the workmanship is second to none. I had my nails and brows done for a wedding in February and they are both still in great condition now. I would highly recommend a visit to Marcos anytime whether for a special occasion or to treat yourself, and whether you have a discount or not as the quality you get for the money is well worth it.
