Booked this as a birthday treat. Very disappointed overall. Showers and water were not working which meant we could not have original treatment. Appreciate these things happen but staff had a 'tough luck' attitude. One even said I wish I hadn't picked the Monday shift. Staff were unprofessional and miserable. Rooms were uncomfortably cold. Treatments were not enjoyable. Therapist was very heavy handed and I have actually been suffering with neck pain since the massage which was painful as was the scalp massage during the facial. It was like the therapist was very new and lacked training or just hated doing the treatment and could not be bothered. Music in treatment room was inappropriate and my friend had no music. We were told to go to the restaurant for our ginger cake and lemonade. On doing so we were told we should have gone to the spa lounge but 'I suppose you can sit in here' we were then presented with unpleasant tasting hot chocolate and cheap 'supermarket' gingerbread men. In all honestly everything about this day was a let down, the overall appearance was unkempt I.e empty dispenser for wet kit bags which needed changing, broken sharp tiles hanging from the wall and a foul smell in the toilets this could be due to the fact you could not flush! We felt pretty much like an inconvenience for being there. Very surprised having visited a different macdonald hotel at Christmas and having a fabulous experience. This one certainly lets down the hotel name.

Spa itself is lovely. We had the cream tea package, which was nice enough but the restaurant it was served in was a little disappointing - an average room and not overly nice. Staff however were great and even served us champagne in the relaxation spa lounge, which we felt were nicer surroundings.

Treatments were good but not out of this world. I'd possibly return but not in a hurry to go back

Booked the cream tea spa day for me and my mum as a surprise for her birthday. It was exactly what we both needed and wanted! The cream tea was lovely, as were the staff. The pool/sauna area was clean & good for the value of what I had paid.
Favourite area was the relaxation area by the spa lounge, very relaxing atmosphere & gorgeous decor.

My daughter very kindly booked an overnight stay and spa treatment for my wife and I for last Sunday/Monday 10/11 May.

Despite receiving two email confirmations the weekend before our treat date I subsequently received an email from the hotel which saw on Thursday morning last week (3/4 days before the spa/overnight stay) saying no rooms were available on 10 May!

When I rang the reception manager at the hotel he nearly apologised but never quite managed that! He said the booking made through Wahanda should not have been made without cross checking room availability. We were more than a little disappointed at such gross inefficiency.

When I subsequently rang the hotel again they rebooked us for this coming Sunday 17 May.

We are obviously unimpressed and our daughter who booked this treat as a thank you for our help with her wedding is completely embarrassed.

Lovely greeting from the staff. Excellent spa facilities especially the relaxation room. Wouldn't bother with afternoon tea as it was disgusting obviously not freshly made. Would recommend as long as your don't eat there.

Everything was fab, the hotel was lovely, spa amazing and treatments were brilliant shame that one member of staff didn't tell us about the relaxation room and was a bit confused about our timings which caused us to lose 10 mins off 2x30 minute treatments and her to roll her eyes and huff at us even though she got our timings wrong! Alex who did my sole delight treatment was wonderful though!

The Spa facilities and treatment were spot on, couldn't have asked for any more! Shame the same cant be said for the rest ..... the room was nice but the bed was uncomfortable and ready for a new mattress i would say but was ok for one night.

The restaurant was a complete let down. After sitting down for our evening meal, we waited 10 minutes for our order to be taken. We requested well done steak that came extremely pink. We had to wait a over 45 minutes for our drinks after asking twice where they were, once we received them the poor girl apologised and said she was new and hadn't been given appropriate training and the drink order hadn't gone through the first time, at this point we had pretty much finished our meal but accepted the apology.

Hoping for a better experience at breakfast, we went down the next morning to find the restaurant in complete disorganisation, dirty tables which staff we struggling to clear. After waiting for our table to be cleaned we sat down and waited for over 15 minutes for our order to be taken and that was only taken because we asked! Other visitors around us were also getting frustrated with level of service.

I have never ever been to a restaurant where the level of service was that bad, if it wasn't for the fact we had already paid for it in our package we would have walked away and gone elsewhere. Such a shame as the spa facilities and treatments were spot on.

Won't be visiting again any time soon.

We went for the sugar and space deal. The treatments were excellent. The only thing I would mark down for, is that there was no jacuzzi in the spa, and there was kids swimming lessons going on in the pool mid afternoon on a Monday - so not very relaxing unfortunately with all the noise.
