I'd been to this salon on a couple occasions about six years ago, when it was known as Ami's. They gave me pretty good haircuts then, but at one appointment a stylist cut my neck and at another the woman washing my hair dumped water down my back, so for the sake of self-preservation I quit going. However, I heard that the place had since changed ownership, and since it's very convenient to my house I decided to give it another try. My appointment went about 1000% better than the previous ones in that I did not come away from it physically injured, but I was also very pleased with it on its own merits.
There's not much the owners could do to disguise the fact that the salon is in a low-rent parade of shops in West Harrow, but they'v'e given it a fresh coat of paint and removed some clutter, so the interior is much cheerier than it used to be. I had my hair cut in the front of the shop, and assume that other beauty treatments are given in the back.
Both members of staff that I met were friendly and welcoming. The stylist who cut my hair was very quiet except for an occasional bit of small talk. I generally consider this a good thing, but was a little concerned about whether she'd understood what I wanted done with my hair. I needn't have worried, because she gave me exactly the cut I was looking for. She also didn't try to sell me lots of products or extra treatments, which is a huge bonus.
As might be expected for the price, this salon provides a fairly basic service. If feeling pampered when you have your hair cut is a big deal for you, then it probably shouldn't be your top choice (although perhaps the experience is different for those getting facials or massages). But if you want a good haircut without a lot of fuss or expense, then I can recommend it. I will probably be going again.

Very friendly staff. Pedicure carried out in a massage chair which is nice after a day's work. I also had the callus treatment and the beautician did a wonderful job. My heels feel soft and clean.

I had appointment for gel nails a couple of weeks ago. The lady who did them was lovely... but I get the impression she was not the beautician. I was initially told to wait for the other lady as she was fitting in a last minute appointment and would see me when she was done. As she had only just started the other lady said she would get it started. However, she ended up doing the whole thing. The whole process took over an hour and a half! After the first round she realised some nails weren't very good so removed and redid them (very time consuming!). While her attention to detail was admirable (she could have just let me go) I get the impression she just wasn't qualified/ know what she was doing which is why they didn't turn out great. At the end the other lady, who appeared to be the actual beautician and was originally supposed to do my nails, finally took over as I waited for the re-done nails to dry. She had a look at my nails and pretty much told me they looked bad afterwards! She said 'don't worry next time you come I'll do it'... So I get the impression as they had double/triple booked somebody unqualified ended up doing it (sorry- she was lovely but when you pay for your nails done professionally that's what you expect!). I would of asked for them to be redone by her again if I hadn't already been there for over an hour and a half with plans I needed to get ready for that evening. The nails chipped within the first day. The colour was thin and started way to far up my nail. It didn't look professional at all (friends were shocked to find out they were gels not usual varnish). It has now been 1 week and 4 days sice I had them done and 7 out of 10 nails are very chipped already. Place was nice etc... I'm sure if the proper lady did it they would be great. But bad experience and waste of time for me. Sorry guys.
