I had arranged an appointment for the above order at J2A’s premises at 662, Blackburn Road, Rising Bridge, BB5 2RY.
When I arrived just before the appointed time of 11 am having travelled 20 miles from Salford I was met by workmen clearing out the premises and being told that the tenant, J2A had “done a bunk” clearing out with furniture belonging to the landlord..
The landlord told me that substantial amount of rent was also owed by them; police subsequently recovered some of their furniture from another J2A premises at 28 Little Blackburn Road, Accrington, BB5 1HD.
A message was sent to me at 9.47 this morning which I didn’t see until I was at the now closed premises as I would have been driving when the message was sent. The message told me I could ring if necessary when I rang the number 07712 554 537 would not connect. Anyway I then went in search of the 2nd premises in Accrington, arriving there at about 11.30 I told the staff that the way they had mishandled my booking was totally unacceptable and looking at the dishevelled premises I had absolutely no confidence in having any “beauty” treatments there.
The voucher for this "treatment" was bought by my daughter as a birthday gift but all I have had is a 40 mile round trip and 2 wasted hours.

A very disappointing experience and J2A are beyond the pale. I I could rate them as no star I would.

Despite receiving a refund at the time plus some additional credit as an apology, I feel angered that Groupon continue to allow J2A to offer deals on their website.

My mother and I have honestly never experienced service like it. I booked a 2 hour facial and a massage package for two as a birthday treat for my mother. Our original appointment was cancelled due to staff sickness (which is understandable but this seems to be a common occurrence looking at other reviews on the internet) and staff were rude upon trying to rearrange an alternative date. Upon arrival for our appointment, we were surprised to find that it was not as it had been advertised 'a spa', and moreover, staff were dressed in trainers and jeans.

We were escorted upstairs and a young staff member, who was friendly, asked us if we were happy to have a male for our treatment (full body massage). Given that we were unsure about this, the girl stated that there was no problem and that we could have a female therapist; however that she had "nipped out for lunch" and would "return in 10 minutes". We happily agreed to wait and were given dressing gowns to change into. After 55 minutes of waiting (in grubby dressing gowns I might add) with no offer of a drink or any update, we were approached by another lady who was clearly very upset with us. In a very confrontational manner she spat at us "did you not realise that it could be a male doing your treatment? In future you really need to bear that in mind". We patiently expressed that this might have affected our decision to book such treatment and additionally that the young girl had freely offered for us to have a female therapist and so we had accepted. The woman then went on to say that because we were half way into hour treatment time that we could only have 50% (1 hr) of our treatment. At this point, I stated how disgusting the whole experience had been and that we would be leaving.

The experience was supposed to be a treat and a nice day out for my mum and instead we left feeling upset and disappointed. The salon is filthy and I would not recommend it to anyone- regardless of the price. They do not value the custom of Groupon customers and treat you like a cheapskate. Avoid at all cost!

I bought a voucher for a shellac nails and toes and should off realised the offer was to good to be true.
Four phone calls trying to book in for the treatment was a nightmare, I kept being asked to ring back (computer down, therapist not in,not sure if available appointments)
Finally the rude man that I spoke to got me booked in after asking me "What do you want me to do read out all our available appointments to you".
I then needed to cancel that appointment the day after due to work and rang to see if I could move the appointment for 2 weeks time…
I then had the pleasure(sarcasm)to speak to the therapist who was quite willing to cancel my appointment but would not book me in again until I could give her my groupon voucher security code, I explained that I was at work and didn't have it at hand but would bring it with me on the day.
This supposedly could not be done and she made some excuse about the computer not recognising any appointment without the code!
When I asked if this is going practise for any client calling to make an appointment she said "but you are groupon "
I then asked that surely the point of special offers for the salon are to get recurring clients from the offer….At this point she said she would not be doing any treatments for me and to sort it out with groupon and put the phone down!
To say I am gobsmacked is an understatement.
I work with the public myself and would never speak to a client like they did…Basic manners and professionalism needed!

DO NOT visit this salon! The worst experience I have ever had. A rude, unprofessional and filthy establishment with a really negative atmosphere.

I was already concerned visiting after reading so many bad online reviews, and now I really regret not cancelling my booking. Absolutely disgusted with the service I received.

I visited j2a with a very good groupon offer. The staff were very nice, friendly and welcoming. The massage I had with Bev was lovely and professional and I would probably use her again. The facial was awful. Not very professional at all, the therapist didn't seem to have been trained very well and she didn't stop talking all the way through. When I go for a relaxing facial I have no interest in listening to the therapists life story!! Would not recommend a facial.
The place itself is a lot bigger than it looks, the treatment rooms could do with a revamp, they are quite dated. The bathroom was dirty. Would only revisit for a massage with Bev.

Bought a voucher as a gift by a friend and was a little surprised at first to see what looked like a terraced house, but inside was like a tardis with lots of surprises over 4 floors. The decor is a little tired but I understand they are due to have a revamp in June/July and all areas we visited were comfortable, clean and cosy. The real treat was the skill of the staff though, the best massage I have ever had (and I regularly visit spas) and the hair cut and colour were fantastic - definitely city centre quality without the price tag - I will definitely be returning!

I purchased a Groupon Voucher for my wife and daughter to enjoy a special treat at J2A.

My wife was rung on the morning of the session to say that all their staff (barring the one on the phone) had all rung in sick with food poisoning.

My daughter effectively lost a days annual leave (or a days wage conversely) and a special day was ruined.

My suspicions had been raised when on the 13th March we received the following from Groupon by Email.

Unfortunately, due to technical difficulties with J2A's booking system, any previous bookings have been lost and you will need to rebook. We'd like to apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

I would be be very wary of using this business at any point in the future
