The mud serail treatment was advertised as a treatment that you would expect to given from a member of staff. However once we arrived we were told by a very informal member of staff that we would have to rub the mud on ourselves and then just shower it off. That was the treatment. Couldn't have had a worse experience.

Thank you for your feedback. I'm so sorry you didnt enjoy the mud serail treatment , this is one of our most popular treartments. It seems to me it was not explained to you properly by the member of staff as this treatment is great fun, relaxing and has great benefits for the skin.

I do hope you would return to us in the future.

Kind Regards

Very un-impressed with what I recieved for the money. Paid £110 for two people on a half day spa experience and wasnt worth the money at all. What we recieved was nothing more then we would have got by just booking a treatment each and having some lunch. There was nothing to do while we were waiting for our treatment which was a long time as we were told to arrive at 9am for a 12o'clock treatment. Once we had had our treatment and some lunch no one was around to speak to us and we feeling very out of pocket.

Dear Jake
Thank you for your feedback. My sincere apologies your were dissapointed with your experience with us. Due to the location of the spa within the castle and the restriction of developing historic buildings we unfortunately canno0t offer wet facilities. During better weather periods we do find most guests make the most of the simply stunning grounds and aslo a historic tour of the castle. We are working with the hotel to extend relaxation spaces for the future.

I do hope you would return to us in the near future.
Kind Regards
Victoria Oliver

Great spa with excellent therapists, waxing done quickly and relatively painlessly, definitely recommend this venue for your treatment as also feels like you are getting away from it all when you go there.

Well what a find, I come up to the York/Leeds area every week for business and stay 1/2 nights a week. Having stayed here by accident due to my normal hotel being full, I will not be going back. This hotel is beautiful and remote, away from the hubbub of business.

Having a stiff neck, I treated myself to a massage with hot stones and I can not recommend it highly enough, my therapist was experienced and lovely - just the job. (I am now working my way through the treatments list) The spa has just had a refurbishment with beautiful treatment rooms and lovely relaxation area complete with fruit teas to sip whilst you're in your robe awaiting a treatment. Only wish I lived nearer for more leisure trips with girlfriend or to treat my Mum.

My room was in the modern wing of the hotel, that has quirky corridors and lots of history. Spotlessly clean and well equipped. The service was good and the food great, the restaurant is in an old wine cellar. All staff I came across in particular those in the spa department were an asset to the company.

Well done this is now my regular stop over, well, you have to have some creature comforts when away from home!

Spa facilities only scored as OK as there isn't any wet facilities to judge.

Some bedrooms are oldie worldy, while others are quite modern - state your preference.

Go On - treat yourself

went here with my sister we both had hot stone massage which was amazing! Only down fall is that we expected there to be more facilities, it was quite small a nail room then massage room. The therapist was lovely and it was a very good deal!!

The setting of Hazelwood Castle is lovely however the spa itself is three rooms in the grounds. The staff were friendly and we had our treatment in the double treatment room. The spa is let down by its lack of facilities with nowhere to relax after your treatment.

Lovely surroundings - and great treatments. I visited Hazelwood for my Birthday and I wasn't disappointed. The staff were very attentive and professional and the treatments were great especially the massage and the facial which were the best I have had, and that is a compliment because I am a regular when it comes to pampering myself. I will certainly be returning!!!

Lovely gardens and castle steeped in history, castle tour very informative. lunch and afternoon teaca real treat, food fantastic, the best treacle sponge I have taste. The treatments were very relaxing, therapists were professional with excellent massage skills, facial was good. Hot tub, pool or sauna would have enhanced the experience. I would recommend the enrich spa to friends, very satisfied customer.

Having got married at the castle in 2002 I was very curious to see how the spa would fit in..

Plenty of parking which is a bonus, lovely grounds and fantastic setting.

Spa..wouldn't really classify it as a spa, more like a couple of beauty rooms with a main reception where nails are also done. The room we used was fine but not at all luxurious, nowhere to hang clothes, no mirror and the door leads straight outside onto the main courtyard so not that private (would recommend a vestibule or at least a curtain over the door). Also I'd replace the carpet with laminate for hygiene purposes.

Therapists were young but very good, asked about pressure etc and that was all which is just the way I like it, no idle chit chat.. really enjoyed the massage and could have easily had another one.

massage bed slightly wobbly but adequate, lovely towels on the bed for comfort.

All all in good value for what we paid which was £30 for two 1/2 hour massages but could improve with a few little adjustments as stated above.

Not a great experience at all and definately would not reccomend! I booked a massage for myself and partner a month ago and then forgot what time i had booked it for. I rang 3 times and left 3 messages with no responce until a couple of days before when i had a voice message telling me the time of our treatments with no apology for not getting back to me only that they had been busy??? Arrived for our massage yesterday to be greeted by the two most glum miserable girls you could imagine. No smiles no welcome, just shunned into the corner of a small reception/nail table to fill in a long questionnaire befor we started. Funnily enough the phone rang at this point, to my amazement the girl just sat there and let it go to answer phone, i couldn't believe it!!!!Then we were shown to the room which was nothing like a spa room just a tired dirty treatment room with oil all over the surfaces and no blinds to block out the sunlight so it wasnt even dark and relaxing. The massage was also awfull i felt as though i had been tickled for 30 minuits, even when i jumped in the areas which she was clearly tickling she didn't do anything to change it, just carried on when i was clearly not enjoying these specific movements. No pressure was applied as the discription said in the treatment brochure(deep tissue massage)!! and she had the coldest hands ever. I was a beauty therapist for 6 years so i suppose its easy for me as i know how things should be done, such as warming your hands befor touching somebodys skin, this therapists hands were freezing and she took her hand off my back so many times which is also not meant to happen in massage. Then we were left to get changed once they had finished but wasnt told where to go after, so we just walked out of the room which takes you straight outside to a courtyard area with nobody there to say bye or ask us how we were, as we had already paid upfrount we just left and headed back to the car. We will not be returning again.

Fantastic double treatment room for me and my partner to have our treatment together, we both thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we're looked after throughout. Kerry is an excellent therapist and would definately recommend this day spa to family and friends.
