The spa was okay. Had all the facilities you'd expect, however, layout could have been considered more. There's quite a lot of noise coming from the pool area so the 'relaxation room' wasn't so relaxing. The afternoon tea was nice. There was a lot of bored teenagers hanging around the restaurant/bar area which made the experience a little uncomfortable. Boys were using the girls toilets and they were also quite rude to guests. The nail treatment I received was FAB! The nail technitian did an amazing job and was very lovely and chatty. The staff in general were brilliant. Very kind and helpful and made you feel very welcome. I wouldn't recommend this hotel for the spa alone, but definitely the treatments and the staff made the day!

I have just got back from a spa break for myself and my friend for her birthday. I think everyone should be made aware of the poor quality of service we received plus the sub-standard level of facilities and the shoddy condition of the hotel.

Hotel experience
• When we arrived, we were told our cream teas hadn’t been booked and would have to have them the next day as they were fully booked. As we were leaving the next morning, we had to complain several times for them to finally squeeze is in.

• The lift was broken so several steep flights of stairs had to be climbed to reach our room.

• When we got our cream tea eventually, apart from only getting sandwiches, scones and a slither of soggy apple cake, the scones were all stale. However, we did complain and they brought us some fresh ones. It was still a highly unimaginative cream tea!

• A violent fight broke out in front us while we were eating our dinner among some male wedding guests, which obviously spoilt our evening. We were nervous to even go to the ladies after that.

• We found a pubic hair in our bedding before we had even got into bed! Yuck!

• The room was so hot with no thermostat control we had to sleep with the window open together with the noise of traffic and car fumes.

• The ceiling was leaking next to the table were we had our breakfast as it was raining!?!

Spa experience
• The staff at the spa were friendly but very disorganised. We had to ask for robes and slippers twice as we weren’t initially offered any and realised other people had them. The excuse was they had to launder them and hadn’t got them dry!

• There is only one shower with a see-through door in the ladies plus one toilet and two changing rooms - an appalling levels of facilities for the 25 or more women using the spa at once.

• I think as a result of the high temperature and lack of food due to having to wait for our cream tea, I fainted for the first time in my life. Luckily my friend and other guests looked after me amazingly well. Once I’d recovered we told the staff, and all they could say was I hope you weren’t out for too long and get yourself a glass of wine and you’ll be fine! Apart from their total lack of concern and ridiculous advice, shouldn’t they have filed an incident report at the very least? I was left feeling embarrassed for mentioning it.

My friend and I spent a lot of money on this weekend, hoping to be pampered and come back relaxed, but instead we felt traumatised, neglected and totally disappointed. We have been on several spa weekends in the past and know what to expect and this didn’t come close to our previous experiences in any way.

I have emailed the hotel manager, head office and Spa Breaks and no of them have had the decency to contact me!

Our room and the hotels facilities were lovely just as we expected from the pictures. The spa was perfect with lots of different treatments to take full advantage of! And our room was nice and tidy just as we hoped a downside was that we was on the 3rd floor and the lift was out of use, and the stairs are pretty steep, other than that a great location not to far from the beach!
However we did have some dissapointment when it come to our evening meal in the restaurant which was included in the deal! To start off we wasn't offered drinks for a least half hour and even then we had to ask for them, both the starter and main I ordered come out as completely different dishes forcing my partner and I to eat at different times, we was in the restaurant for 3 hours and did not even stay for dessert, we was extremely fed up at this point and the manager was not considerate or helpful in anyway.

Whilst there appeared to be a couple of guests complaining about various things, we had no complaints, and had a very relaxing stay. Spa therapy was particularly good.

The hotel is quite run down, the lift wasn't working whilst we visited and we were on the third floor! The food was nice at the restaurant but we waited a long time for dinner, breakfast was just chaotic no structure really and we didn't actually go for our inclusive breakfast on the second morning. The room was ok, but nothing more than that. The hotel needs some TLC and more staff, the staff during out visit were lovely but just not enough of them. In honesty I wouldn't go back to this hotel again.

Hotel is really kept and prestige looking even in the bedroom until u look real close can see it an old hotel and quiet overused. This did not bother me much. Dinner was fabulous! However weren't offered the free glass of wine or the tapas. Now the spa facilities lovely ambience although the 2nd jacuzzi was freezing cold. Few ppl milling but nice quiet space. Bought a massage which I can only describe as nice. Girl didn't really want to out her back into it. Facial was basic. In the end I fell asleep on the table. Beachside is not far away easy walking distance. Had a gd time.

The rooms are not fitted with air conditioning so if you go within hot months then all you get is a very low powered fan we had to keep the main door open for a while as the heat was really bad.
We stayed on the third floor and our shower in our room was not powerful at all and the head needed replacing.
Couldn't fault spa girls, my massage was lovely and relaxing and the spa area was nice.
The hotel staff are really friendly but the hotel itself was a bit of a let down

We bought this deal for our first anniversary. A three course dinner and breakfast were included, along with a 30 minute spa treatment. Absolute bargain. The hotel is only a five minute walk from the beach.

The spa facilities are ok at best, the showers in the spa treatment rooms were a lot cleaner than the other shower I used after I tried out the hotel gym facilites (the showers were really dirty & are located near the spa but not in the treatment rooms), the customer service varied e.g. the bar staff and general reception were polite and helpful, a mix bag however with the spa staff who at one point I felt was very rude and complained to reception (please note this was not all spa staff just a select few). The enzyme mud wrap really did nothing for me personally, I just felt very thirsty after and my skin felt exactly the same.... when asking the beauty therapist about what was in the wrap she did pull out the big plastic tub and read a few of the ingredients e.g. caffeine. I felt I could have done this treatment myself at home, the massage on my head was very brief & minimal, along side the same massage oil being placed in my face (which I washed off once back to my hotel). My hotel I was staying in was different from this one and I had travelled to Hallmark Spa hoping for a relaxing experience based on the reviews. Overall I felt not relaxed at all when leaving (actually more stressed to be honest... i just wanted to leave asap) and I really do wish I saved my money, headed down to the beach or something else etc. I personally did not enjoy this experience and I hope the hotel takes this feedback in to consideration for the future.
