Good Vibes Fitzrovia part of Good Vibes

Good Vibes is more than just a fitness studio. It is a place dedicated to the enjoyment that positive, fun and thoughtful exercise creates. We are not anonymous or corporate, instead we hope to inspire people to exercise because it’s better for their minds as well their bodies. So coming to our classes will make you fitter, but they’ll also make you happier too.

We’re small but we’re perfectly formed with a studio for Power Plates, Glow Yoga and Pilates and Glow Cycle. We love the atmosphere that the sociability of great classes creates and firmly believe that feeling fantastic is about generating positivity and joy together, not working in isolation.

We’ve gone to great lengths to create spaces that are a pleasure to be in and help you to get the most from your class. So that means Europe’s first infra-red studio, to maximise the benefits for your mind and body, and it means a look and feel that you wouldn’t normally expect from a ‘gym’, like wooden panelling, swooping murals and a dash of joy . It doesn’t mean row upon row of people doing their own thing.

I am a member here and love it. Has a good vibe. Nice energy and helps you stay motivated.

Shower room does get a bit cramped with the stacks of people coming out of classes, but that is just due to popularity and the workout you get! Everyone is curteous and quick, plus the showers are clean, so you just have to be patient.

I can only recommend Good Vibes!

Love Good Vibes Power Plates! Its a small class which means you really get the attention you need from your instructor. Everyone that works there are always smiling and very welcoming.

This is a cosy friendly venue but a little cramped. I enjoyed the power plate and felt the young instructor was trained well and able to help individuals within the class. Changing facilities are limited. I have been back.

I went along to Good Vibes for two Power Plate sessions after getting the MobDeal - 2 classes for £10. This was my second time at Good Vibes and I had high hopes as I'd liked it the first time I tried it out.

I do like the atmosphere at Good Vibes - it's clean and a bit quirky - nothing had changed from the year before. It's a very small place with only one class ever going on at a time which is a good thing considering the lack of changing rooms, but it can be tricky to book in at the last minute - we booked ours in a week in advance, with evening slots being busy.

The classes were good - particularly the first week I went as I felt we really worked hard (given that I was very unfit!) and I felt like I had a whole body workout, with work on the abs and arms as well as the legs. The instructor was cheery but perhaps not as motivational as the guy I had had before. The second week I went, we had a different instructor who focussed a lot more on quicker, less intense exercises particularly on the legs, so I came away feeling like I hadn't worked hard enough. That said, I am someone who needs a fair bit of pushing else I will take the easy route out!

The instructors do keep the movements quite varied so you won't get bored that's for sure - and I did feel like my muscles had been worked out. I did want to carry on with classes but the price tag on power plates still put me off - I think I'd be better getting a gym membership at a venue who offer power plates as part of it so that I can take the techniques I used and do it myself. In my classes though, the other 3 people taking part were all regulars and I could tell by their toned figures - a good advert in itself!

Good Vibes is really a place with a good vibe. I visited the one in Fitzrovia. Staff were very helpful and friendly and the decoration and style is really funky. For those who dont have time to spend in the gym or are not keen going to the gym like myself, power plate is a fast way to exercise and feel fit. Instructors were good and the level of exercises varied. Three sessions per week are recommended and they offer different packages. I want to try the bikini body one as i have a beach holiday coming up, but they have different packages which concentrate on different areas of the body. Definitely recommend it as a power plate studio if the location suits you.

I bought the Good Vibes MobDeal where I got two sessions for £10. I was really excited about trying Power Plate out as I'd heard rave reviews about how good it was for getting rid of cellulite and strengthening muscles, and I really wasn't disappointed!

My first session was a little scary as I didn't know what to expect but for a 25 minute workout I definitely felt the burn! The trainer made sure I understood how to stand on the plate properly and that I knew how to do the exercises without feeling out of sync with the others. Some exercises were relatively easy and others were harder to keep up with (particularly using the straps and pulling arms up to shoulders...ouch!) but all in all it's a really effective workout without needing to stay in the gym 'til midnight...

My second session was even harder with a different trainer. That's part of why I enjoyed the change, because I got to do different workouts and at a different pace too. This time my legs were aching for a few days afterward but that only meant it was doing its job. I have to say, even after only two sessions I felt like my skin was tighter and my muscles stronger! Block sessions are quite expensive, so there's a fair bit of saving for me to do to be able to afford going back, but it's such an effective exercise it's worth it!

Hi Charley, isn't it great to do a workout in only 30 minutes? Unless you're a celebrity and looking fit and fierce is your business, I prefer to get my workout over and done with in less than 45 minutes if I can! Have you tried Zumba too?

Okay so this is my second week of 7.30 am PP sessions at Covent Garden Good Vibes. I've got to tell you this is the only class that can make me get up that early to get there in time. If like me you aren't an NBE (natural born excerciser) then this is perfect! There are only up to 5 people in a class so the instructor can give you individual attention and whilst that means you can't hide in the class it's strangely fun, and just as you want to swear out loud, it's all over and you're into the massage part.
After class I'm clear headed, wide awake and full of energy but forget all that airy fairy stuff, trust me when I tell you my British West Indian bum has already started to lift in a week and that's saying something!

This was my first Power Plate Session! I had so much fun! It was challenging but not intimidating and I loved that it was a gentle impact workout. I felt like my whole body had been worked over but I wasn't dripping in sweat or short of breath. I felt fantastic after the class and was full of energy, the atmosphere is very welcoming and the instructor was very sweet and inspiring. I'm totally addicted!

What is great is that you can see results so quickly. And if I'm honest one of the major attractions is that a really thorough workout only takes 25 minutes! I hate the gym, it's so boring and at Good Vibes it's small classes, great music and an ever changing rota of trainers so you never get bored.

The workout is excellent and the best part is that it's super fast, a quick 25 min session then you can continue with your day. The staff and trainers are all very friendly and helpful, the studio itself is lovely - I especially like the mirrors - all in all a very nice experience that I would recommend to everyone!

I'm onto my fifth block of power plate sessions. You could say I have caught the bug. Maybe the vibrations affect my mood? I always feel more positive and energised after a session. My arms have never been so firm (still some way to go until I banish the bingo wings) but my sisters are starting to get very envious of my firming body. Most importantly I am feeling really strong and I certainly noticed the difference when walking in the mountains this summer.

Yes, I probably will be signing up for a sixth session. Who, me an addict?

After completing a third block of power plate session I can't say my fat has melted away - but I have only been going twice a week due to work, not hitting the gym for extra aerobic exercise (although I walk everywhere). However I am finding my body is much stronger and I have more definition in my biceps. To my delight, my cellulite, which I thought where the just deserts of getting older eating what I like and drinking too much coffee, has virtually disappeared, leaving me feeling very sleek and confident wearing my bikini on a recent holiday to Greece.

Yes I will be signing up for a fourth block :)

25-minute sessions mean you can fit it into your daily routine, no matter how busy you are, which is great for someone like me who has gym-discipline issues. Really friendly staff. It's very small (one training room, five Power Plate machines) but that makes it feel more personal and private, which I prefer, and the instructor can focus on making sure each one of you is holding the correct position. Only one shower, though, so you're unlikely to get a turn if you're in a rush unless you're first in, and, as above, no towels.

Would you go back despite the lack of shower facilities and towels?

I have signed up for 10 sessions, the next one in 3 days' time! Planning to go back 3 times a week. Speaking as a gymphobic, this is impressive work by Good Vibes. Also helps that it is a short walk from my office, so very easy to fit in, and that I have a buddy to go with, to aid motivation.

Loved the atmosphere - really not intimidating, very friendly staff and other users.
Never done it before but easy to follow instructions.
Would be nice if they had towels in the shower room, although I guess they are trying to discourage people from showering there. Noticed there was no soap in the shower.
In all, a great local place - small, efficient and friendly.

Update. Following my complimentary session to the magic of the power plate courtesy of Wahanda I signed myself up for 10 off peak sessions. Although I have a way to go before I have all over toned bod, I have seen a marked improvement in my legs and bum which has spurred me on to sign up for 20 more sessions to see what happens next.

Aside from firming up my body, the trainers have been very supportive in helping me strengthen my abdominal muscles to help with an old back injury. I find the trainers to be extremely welcoming and supportive and as they work on rotation each trainer has a different approach so the workouts never get boring.

From the moment I stepped into the reception of Good Vibes I was impressed, the decor is is divine, simple classic white walls and wood floors with a touch of frou frou added by the ornate mirrors. Welcoming reception staff made me feel at ease and Max my trainer for my free session was friendly and professional as he pushed me through my paces. Initially I found the vibrations alarming, thinking my brain might wobble out of place (!) but I was quickly reassured everything was fine and given advice how to breathe deeply through the exercises which helped.

The next day I really felt the sore. I'd estimate my aches and pains to a good hour long personal training session at the gym! Which made me think vibrating my way to a toned body could be a quicker than schlepping to the gym. Don't get the impression using the power plate is effortless, some of the exercises are hard work, but after my first session I was intrigued and have signed myself up for ten more sessions.

I'll let you known the result when their over :)

I had been looking forward to trying out Power Plates and went along as a group for a morning session. After filling out a consent form it was very much straight-in, with a quick change in the limited 'changing rooms' (two toilets, one with a shower; two other rooms which don't lock but are nice and spacious).

The instructor was very friendly, but although I knew a little about Power Plates already I would have preferred if he had gone through the general gist of what they do and why they are worth a go. The exercises were very simple, starting with leg-toning exercises which were basically squats whilst standing on the vibrating Power Plate. It was a bit of a weird sensation at first, but I could feel the muscles working which felt quite rewarding as I haven't been keeping very fit recently!

The crunches, done while sitting on the plate, were the hardest part as I could really feel it working. The sitting-down positions were a little uncomfortable as my head really vibrated and I later had a headache which I think may have been caused by all that rattling around. There are only five Power Plates in the studio, so I would definitely recommend going as a group with people you know, as some of the odd positions could be awkward around strangers!

It's definitely worth a try to see if it's your sort of thing; I would do it again as it really works out the muscles, but would need to do cardio as well to feel like I was keeping fit. With each session being about half an hour it's perfect for a lunch break workout, but £20 is quite a lot in my mind for one single session which goes by in a flash, so it may be better to take note of the moves and do them in your own time or at the gym.

I had wanted to try using the power plate for a while and heard about Good Vibes. It is a smallish room which has five or six power plates lined up against a mirror. Classes are scheduled each half an hour and it is very easy to book in. The instructors seem to work on a rotating schedule and there is significant variety to the level of difficulty/challenge depending on the instructors - some come up with some brilliant poses that really get you working those target areas while others can be somewhat run of the mill and you can leave the class without feeling that you have really worked out. As the instructors are always changing you cannot book a class around a specific instructor which is frustrating. There is one shower/toilet and then another toilet and two other little changing rooms which strangely don't seem to have locks. I think it is good place to go and try out the power plates and decide if you enjoy using them - there is no doubt that when used on a regular basis it definitely tightens the thighs and butt etc. However a number of gyms now have power plates - so paying £20 for a 25 minute session here is certainly not that economical.
